Tomorrow is MRJ’s birthday and I had a random idea. Can we declare tomorrow to be MRJ Appreciation Day here and post lots of fun pics or videos of him in this thread? They wouldn’t have to be all SwanFire related (although they can be!! 😉 ) but just anything fun or random to keep us entertained and enjoying each other’s posts. This could be a really fun way to celebrate him and show our thanks that he’s part of the OUAT family now. No one else will probably do anything for him since I feel like most fans would rather he not exist on the show, so I feel like we should be the ones to do something for him on this board. Who’s with me??! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

OMG, this has to be said…that is TOTES ADORBS!!!! (Random commercial moment….anyone else love those commercials with James Earl Jones and Malcolm McDowell??! I can use another part of it for Neal who I think is the Hottest Hottie who’s ever Hottied…LOL)
It was BEYOND weird not having OUAT to watch last night and my Twitter feed was way quieter than normal too from lack of live cast tweeting. It’s so bizarre that the show is going to be off the air for so long this season and until I get busier with things, I still feel like this is going to be a long hiatus! 🙁

I thought I was safe from the obsessive CS people on a few boards that I still read but they were back out in full force and it just bummed me out. If this is what people think true love looks like, then I’m going to be single forever because I will never believe in it. I don’t think I’ll ever understand how people can think that CS is true love when they’ve NEVER spent any alone time together, never talked about having a relationship, have only kissed ONE TIME and Hook had to practically beg Emma for it, she’s still in the dark about some pretty big things that he’s done, he’s left her for dead at least two times all ready and has NEVER apologized for any bad thing he’s ever done, and a relationship between the two of them WILL RESULT in one of them having to change to please the other which NEVER works in relationships, fairy tale or otherwise. I really think people need to get their heads screwed on better about what constitutes a positive relationship. I get sadder and sadder about humanity every single day, LOL 😆 😥
BTW-Can we start up a protest towards the media and their OBSESSIVE nature of propping up CS because it’s being noticed by non shipping Oncers now and they’re not happy about it either. Seriously, just let the show happen and stop trying to shove an agenda down my throat. I’m perfectly capable of making up my own mind about what’s on the show and they’re really not helping with the huge divides that are growing bigger every day in the fandom. I predict that the entire fandom will be broken into a thousand pieces by the end of S3 if they don’t knock it off. 😥
Happy things…..well, I don’t have any happy stuff to share but just because I get frustrated with the media and those weird delusional people that keep popping up on my favorite sites (which I will be frequenting a lot less during this hiatus), I will never give up on SwanFire or the fact that the writers have been planning their story for a long time. Bring it on writers!! 😀

Adorable guy must give up love of his life cause destiny. Adorable guy is alone for 10 years. Adorable guy makes ONE MISTAKE and is HATED by fandom. Adorable guy finds out he has a son and almost looses father in one week. Adorable guy is shot. Adorable guy has to go back to dark island of mismatched toys. Adorable guy had fight with papa. Adorable guy is put in a cage. Adorable guy is rescued by love of his life who says that the pain they went through is super painful. Adorable guy almost looses son. Adorable guy is stood up. Adorable guy looses father. Adorable guy looses love of his life and his son and is sent back home. Seriously. The heck.
Someone send this post to A&E with the tagline at the end too (THE HECK??!). I’m hoping with the Eion Bailey is returning to OUAT news that things start turning a little bit for him. I’m hoping REALLY hard that Mick’s theory is on the right track towards what we might see sometime in S3 part 2 because it fills in a lot of back story and establishes Neal & Emma’s connection even more which may actually gain SwanFire a lot more fans. 🙂
BTW-The other GIF set that I keep going back to tonight? The Hook one with him as the prince from Enchanted getting smacked around in NYC. Boy did I need to laugh tonight and that GIF set just cracks me up, LOL 😆

That was me. I see a lot of posts that “the casual viewer ships CS” and that it was designed for the casual viewer. I have no idea if that is true or false and there is NO way to demonstrate that using any sort of scientific method I’m familiar with. So when someone says, “well I know two or three people who ship CS and they are casual viewers ipso facto all casual viewers ship CS” my mind does somersaults because it’s a fallacy of logic given that 2 or 3 people is not an accurate representative sample of a 9-11 million people viewing audience. And if they’re shipping, actually wanting two people to be together to the point where they have declared allegiance, then they aren’t necessarily your casual viewer. TV is weird, guys. Anyway. Slurpeez I keep re-reading your post from above. It’s so accurate and spot on.
Yeah, it’s almost impossible to figure out what the casual viewer thinks because all of my friends who watch OUAT are part of social media and talk about the show at least in some small capacity there so do they count as casual fans? I have one great friend on Facebook who is definitely a SwanFire fan although she’s definitely not a shipper. She does however like several of my SF Tumblr things when I post them there and someday I’ll get up the nerve to ask her if she really likes them or just likes the pictures, LOL 😆
I keep looking back at the MRJ being adorkable GIF set and cracking up laughing because of all the win in that set. That MTV interview should have just been Jen and MRJ because they were a two person comedy act for a while there! 😆
That Neal post is amazing too and I’ve also re-read it a few times. He seriously needs some happiness at the end of S3 and I am hoping really hard that this is something in their plans. He desperately needs to have something good happen for him because IMO, you make a show a lot harder to watch when you have one character who keeps getting the crap beat out of him. You have to balance things out or else fans start getting annoyed (and after the Twitter drama of yesterday, I think these writers need to tread carefully). I will continue to be astonished whenever someone tries to turn Neal into a villain because that’s just NOT THERE in any episodes that I’ve seen and I’ve seen them all. Weird people are weird. 🙁

101 % agree with this notion! I was re-reading a post I wrote over a year ago at the debut of “Tallahassee” concerning August, Neal and Emma. Even I’m amazed that I recognized SF as being True Love straight off the the bat. I’d actually started out wishing Captain Swan to happen! It’s been over a year, and I’m amazed that even then, I recognized the writers as wanting to denigrate August’s character in order to preserve the integrity of Neal as Emma’s true love! Looking back, I think that I only wanted Hook with Emma in the short-term, because of the “challenge” that they represent to one another, but even then, I realized how truly Emma loved Neal. What solidified it for me was seeing “Manhattan” and then “Second Star to the Right.” To me, it just seems obvious that while Emma and Hook may have a fling, Emma and Neal are each others’ true loves! They’re two lost children who found each other in an otherwise cruel world, dreamed of a home together but were torn asunder by outside forces. Neverthless, their love remains. The rest of their story is about how two people who love each other, but were separated, can nevertheless learn to work that out. Emma and Neal’s reconciliation is a story of hope, because it flies in the face of today’s western world in which a lot of couples never learn to work out their issues, forgive, or reconcile. Emma and Neal giving up because of the curse or Emma’s destiny as the savior would seem empty, unhappy, and desolate in my opinion. The point of their story is that real-life couples can overcome adversity to learn to forgive and reunite, that love does overcome hurt, and that second chances are possible in an age when people are in desperate need of another go at life. That is why Emma and Neal’s story represents hope, because Emma and Neal are most like us; they’ve both grown up in our world where most people don’t get another chance, don’t get to reunite with their first loves, and don’t get to atone for their mistakes. Yet, if Emma and Neal can make it work, then it gives everyday normal people hope that they can make their relationships work, even when there is a history of pain, misunderstanding and disappointment. Real life isn’t always a fairytale like Snow and Charming, who never seem to lose faith in one another except when they’re cursed. So often, real-life couples mess up, make mistakes, say things they don’t mean, and hurt each other when they don’t want to. Emma and Neal’s relationship, though influenced by supernatural events, is still seemingly normal compared to heroic tales, and so I can’t help but root for their everyday fairytale to come true!

Someone asked up thread about how much the casual viewer remembers about previous things on the show and I have a few friends who I can ask so I think I'm going to do that this week. I have two friends who watch the show and while they're big social media fans, they don't participate in any of the fandoms and for the most part, don't really ship anyone per se and a couple of friends who prefer SwanFire but don't participate in the OUAT media stuff either. They're just watching and enjoying the show for the most part. Here's a few tweets from them during the last few episodes.
"I like Hook so the end didn't bother me. *runs and hides* Actually I like Emma on her own and Hook just seemed in character." (I had mentioned that I thought Hook was annoying when he found Emma in NYC, just to put her tweet in context)
"It's never good when the people who write/create the show take sides :-\ "
"I'm totally traumatized too. I need to go finish getting ready for leaving but I'm still sitting here in shock" (Friend who doesn't follow OUAT fandom online but does use social media)
"I don't think these writers are like that... =P #SwanFire " (Written to me b-c I was worried the PSA results would influence how A&E write OUAT...this is a friend who prefers SwanFire but doesn't follow any OUAT boards at all and is mainly a JMo fan)
It does make you wonder what the 'regular' fans think about things because from just my other friends, they're all over the place with the show, LOL 😆 (BTW-I've posted a lot of SwanFire Tumblr stuff on Twitter lately and none of the non shippers have blocked me yet so I guess they don't mind a ton of SwanFire posts!)
