MRJ is such a treasure. That was a fantastic interview and boy can you tell parts of his comments are definitely coming from his time in the OUAT fandom. đŸ˜„

“We just need to wait for it to be 40*.” So, Heather and I met up at a local theme park yesterday. It was freaking FREEZING, but the weather ended up actually lending us a new catchphrase. It’s a long story that serves as an extended metaphor so bear with me
I promise it worked better in person ;) We went into one of the restaurants to warm up, and we ended up having a loooong discussion about the A&E interview, a few points we found interesting, etc. A solid portion of the discussion was about the points outlined above, and my infernal eternal optimism. (For the record, I’m not a fan of my optimism and would prefer to be where RG is! It’s not a voluntary thing, it’s just how I see it!) Because the weather was so cold, when I got to the park, a number of the rides weren’t running. At first it was just the flat rides, then shortly after the park opened they started running their wooden coasters
but anything with steel track was down. There were two rides Heather and I really wanted to ride, both newer additions to the park, but they were both steel and therefore not operating. We looped the park a few times, and on one of the loops – shortly after the discussion on why I’m not convinced we’re out of the game here – we noticed some activity on the loading platform of the coaster. “Hey, are those people on the platform?” I asked, and Heather laughed and said, “Yeah, but I think it’s just the workers.” I shrugged and said, “It’s still a good sign,” and then we laughed about how apparently my optimism carries over to things other than the show. For the record, at this point I had long given up riding either coaster as a lost cause, as I’d been at the park since the morning, and it was now late afternoon, with nary a sign of life at them except for the odd employee on the platform. A little bit later, we noticed that the other coaster had a train sitting on its lift hill – not cycling, just sitting there – but it’s not a normal spot for a train to be stored so we took it as “another good sign” that the coasters might open. At some point, we theorized that maybe there was a “magic number” they were waiting for the temperature to hit before they could run the coasters. (If the coasters get too cold, they run more slowly, which means they risk not having enough momentum to finish the course and valleying out near the end, says the coaster nerd in me.) A bit after THAT, we noticed that both coasters had begun cycling empty trains. “Maybe this optimism might actually pay off!” we said, “SEE!” In the end, both coasters did open and we were able to ride both. When we got in the line for the first one, there was a monitor that had the temperature on it – 40*F. And so, we hypothesized, they had just needed to wait for it to be 40* to run them, and all of our searching for signs that the coasters WOULD open were not quite so insane after all
because they did. It worked as an extended metaphor in that moment, and so we decided that “waiting for 40*” would be a perfect thing to adopt. If SF is endgame, what we’re looking at now are the signs of life on the platform – they might be a nothing, they might just be the staff that was scheduled on the clock anyways so they’re sitting there just in case. Or they might be a something, they might be waiting for it to be 40* so that they can run the darned thing and it’s a matter of waiting out the inclimate weather until that desired event happens. (The irony with the Frozen arc didn’t hit us until later – and I truly don’t think he’ll be back immediately after this arc, I think we’re playing the long game here – so it wasn’t really intended, but it IS funny.) So, then, the question we have to ask is
 is it 40* yet?

I had to quote this and shout out a big old PREACH since I was part of it and also admit something that I haven’t really talked about much here.  I actually subscribe to DSB’s theory that this story isn’t over. Even not watching the show I can see the signs that something is still there and that ‘shipping the dead guy’ isn’t so far fetched if you really look at the show. At the same time though, I really don’t have much faith in the two trolls to do ANYTHING good with this story because of how badly they’ve seemed to butcher everything else lately. There are ways to write a show with an endgame couple and not screw up everything else and they just aren’t doing that right now for whatever reason, so while I can totally see DSB’s point and share in her optimism, the cynic in me is so disillusioned with the two trolls that it just hurts my heart to have any hope that this story isn’t done yet. Welcome to my quandery and why I don’t post much about the show anymore, LOL 😉

Back to my laundry and catching up on this thread….. 😀

Speaking of that, one more way in which PodEmma is unlikable–she KNOWS people are fairy tale characters for real, and Will is holding the Alice in Wonderland book and she’s just so dismissive and insulting in how she delivers the dig about “his friends,” like he’s a child with imaginary friends. I get she’s peeved at him for “interrupting” her date–but she knows people were just ripped from random places to SB due to the curse being recast right? I mean, she hasn’t forgotten that bit? You’d think she could once in bit show compassion for someone who isn’t putting her life in danger at the time or has recently done that–I’m trying to think of the last time she did actually.

Emma’s reaction to fairytale characters has always been “really?” So I don’t so much fault her for finding it amusing that Will was found passed out drunk hugging a copy of Alice in Wonderland. I mean that has comedic value. But yeah, Emma is officially the worst town sheriff. I really dislike Emma’s current behavior towards Will. First, she reneges on her duty to chase Will or at least phone him into her deputy sheriff because she’s on a date. Also, once she apprehended Will, you’d think she’d let him off with a fine. After all Snow White seemed to understand that being a “boozy bookworm” was not a serious crime, and pardoned him. If Emma’s going to hold him in jail longer than it takes for him to get over his hangover, then she’d better have an official charge like breaking and entering. She’s using a personal reason to hold him, because he interrupted her date, and giving him a half-eaten pop tart. Way to be a professional about it, Emma. What does she mean she’ll let him out whenever she feels like it? You can’t hold someone indefinitely without an official charge. That’s an abuse of power. Meanwhile, she’s dating the guy who beat up poor Will and made a death threat against him, and trying to become best friends with the woman responsible for her growing up an orphan. Emma is surprisingly lax about Mr. Gold since his vendetta against Zelena was clear. You’d think it’d occur to her to investigate further since Mr. Gold clearly has magic and can tamper with pieces of evidence.

Quoting this for truth. I hate what they’ve apparently done to Emma. She’s become so much a Pod!Emma that I can’t even handle reading about it anymore. What happened to my one time favorite character on this show????! #sadface đŸ˜„

Happy Friday and HAPPY GRIMM DAY. 😀

    3. My friend and I were not only able to see the Chicago Fire firehouse and set on Friday, we actually got to watch them film some scenes AND it was scenes with my two favorite actors too (Jesse Spencer & Monica Raymund who play Casey & Dawson, aka Dawsey, aka my only ship that’s sailing on any of my shows right now,LOL) so I was on cloud 900 all weekend after that day!

That’s so cool, YAY!! Glad you had an awesomely fangirly trip! :-)

Thanks Phee! It was pretty awesome. My friend and I totally freaked out when we realized what we were going to get to watch that day. She loves Dawsey too! Last night during the show we were picking out all the places that we saw while we were there last week and she even thought she saw some of the extras that we talked to while we were there! It was SO much fun. 😀 (BTW-That Tumblr post I promised will be written later tonight…I was barely conscious last night and figured that wasn’t a good time to write up a long post about anything, LOL)

I don’t have too much to add to what you guys have all ready been talking about here so I’ll just leave a big old PREACH since I agree with you so much. I feel like this show has gone totally off the rails in so many ways but at the same time, I’m with Phee, Slurp, and DSB in wondering WTH they’re doing with bringing random SF things back into the show if they’re so bent on doing CS right now. It’s just oddball and makes me shake my head that they really don’t have a clue how they’re jerking around the audience by being so vague with their story and sending out mixed signals. I honestly don’t know what to think anymore. 🙁

    HELLO!!!!!!!!!! 😀

I’m back from an awesome weekend away in Chicago and boy did I miss a lot here while I was gone! I have caught up on everything now though and while I do have some thoughts on the show, I need to get more sleep tonight because I am not very coherent today. Here are a few random tidbits from my weekend away just to tide you over for a bit. 😉

    1. The skating was awesome this weekend. Sometimes this early in the season things are a little disappointing but we saw some really nice programs in Chicago. 🙂

    2. I am totally exhausted from being an hour earlier all weekend (Central Time). I couldn’t fall asleep until almost 2 AM last night so I’ve been dragging hardcore all day. 🙁

😀 We also got to meet and chat with one of the actors on the show (Edwin Hodge, he plays Newhouse) which was beyond cool. I plan to write up a Tumblr post later tonight about our experiences there so if you guys want to hear more about that, I’ll share the link here later on. It was SO FREAKING COOL and just for the record, Jesse Spencer is SO MUCH HOTTER in person! The only way this day could have been better was meeting Jesse & Monica but they were pretty much filming non stop while we were there so that was understandable. 😀

    More later….. 😀
