ParticipantHappy Thursday everyone!! Sorry I wasn’t around last night but we had tickets to the Reds game which thankfully they won (and we got free pizza for 11+ strikeouts!) because we got home sort of late and I’m totally exhausted today which would be way more annoying had they lost, LOL đ

However, I do whole heartedly approve of the Sherlock GIFs. Wow, you’re so traumatized that you had to post it twice RG, LOL đ

ParticipantInteresting article: https://www.yahoo.com/health/the-case-against-soul-mates-93440461633.html
My fave part:
Couples who are, at their core, very good friends are also more likely to be more in love, be more committed to each other, and even have better sex than couples who value their friendship less. All that good stuff keeps growing over time, this research suggests, and these couples are also less likely to split up. âIn some ways, this is what I think people mean by âsoul mate,â but itâs a bit of a âsoul-mate-lightâ approach,â said Gary Lewandowski, chair of the department of psychology at Monmouth University (and another co-founder of Science of Relationships). âItâs less about magic, or destiny, and more about finding the best person for you.â
Gee, that could describe SwanFire to a tee although there was some destiny involved there. Too bad we’ll never know how it could have turned out. #sadface đ

Participant@Slurpeez, once again, a really interesting and well thought out analysis! Can I just say that Iâm really enjoying the discussion in the thread today? Whenever we get accused of whitewashing Neal or being haters itâs days like this that make it painfully obvious that people only think that because they canât be bothered to either asks us what we really think. Instead they make blanket generalizations based on how they *believe* we think, without actually reaching out to verify said beliefs. Though I admit that is a problem in the fandom across the board. I wish I could contribute to the analysis today, but everyone is doing such a spectacular job that itâs probably unnecessary.
I feel the same way and also agree whole heartedly with Slurp’s amazing analysis. I don’t know what I could add to what’s all ready been said because it was so freaking awesome. I did have something random that I wanted to add earlier but then I got busy with work and forgot what I wanted to say. Maybe it will come back me when I get home later but at any rate, this has been a fascinating discussion and it’s really made me think about TV shows and how fandoms view certain things in general today. I think our conversations on the ranch could be quite interesting later tonight. đ

ParticipantThanks for sharing that article KFC. I found it fascinating overall and I thought it was very interesting that the author used HIMYM as one show that didn’t listen to fans and stayed true to it’s vision because I never thought of it that way having not watched the show much other than the finale (which I hated BTW). This part jumped out to me at the end:
We all know that television shows can be more intimate than many art forms because viewers invite the characters into their homes and come to depend on their stories for provocation, entertainment comfort, escape and release. But that doesnât mean our desires should be of paramount concern to the creators. If weâre going to give so much of our lives to a television show, shouldnât it aspire to artistic truth?
That last part is what the two trolls have lost. Their original story that we saw weaved through 2.5 seasons is now gone. Fans have all ready given so much time and energy to this show and for a lot of us now, they broke what we felt was their original plan to fan service a group of loud bullies who have harassed and belittled everyone else in the fandom for over a year but somehow got their voices heard by ABC who made sure what that group wanted happened above anything else (my opinion but go ahead and try to argue with that, LOL). If ABC really did throw their weight around and tell the two trolls that things had to happen this way or the show was cancelled, then I do feel bad for them because I feel like that was out of their hands. If ABC gave them a general idea of what they wanted to see happen and dangled the rights to Frozen in front of them as an incentive and it was the trolls’ idea to write all the crap we saw in 3B then I don’t feel bad for them at all. If they actually chose to fan service all the bullies of the fandom then it’s all on them for the backlash, hostility, and disappearing viewers that they’re probably going to get in S4 and I don’t feel bad for them at all. No matter which way it happened though, they made that bed and now they’re going to have to lie in it and I will never stop hoping that it blows up in their faces and they’re left wondering if it was worth it to destroy their own vision to please too many other people. There are way too few people working on TV now who have managed to hold onto their artistic integrity and I find that really sad. đ

Happy Monday y’all. *waves* đ

ParticipantBEST.VIDEO.EVER. Mikey for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! đ
Yeah, I had a sad moment over that too RG (man I really hope Bobby does it…that could be epic) but that confirmed for me that he probably hasn’t talked to JMo in a while if he’s not aware that she’s all ready done it. Glad he nominated his buddies Donal and Jason O’Mara though! Those videos should be awesome too! Mad props to him for donating extra money for the other people who nominated him too. He’s such a good guy! *melts* đ
