Yup. And there really is not excuse this time around. They used multiple guys for Scandal, Nashville…they could easily have found a a way to splice in Charming and Rumple at least.
Ugh. They trying to turn OUAT into a soapy show where the motto is “Sex Sells” which is such a slap in the face to us fans who have watched since the Pilot and know that this show was originally so much more than that. It’s also a gigantic red flag to me on where ABC wants them to take this show in S4 and why I’m happier and happier every day that I can’t imagine watching it anymore. Oh how far things have fallen. 🙁
*is glad she hasn’t seen this commercial yet because seeing hotties Charles Esten, Scott Foley, Tony Goldwyn, Sam Palladino, Patrick Dempsey or any other hot ABC guy interspersed with annoying Hook would give her nightmares for years* 😮

I feel like once is becoming a popularity contest, they do what’s popular with the audience not what’s important for the characters and storyline. They killed off Neal because he wasn’t popular, they’re introducing Elsa in order to benefit from Frozen’s success, they sidelined Emma so that Regina could have light magic (total bs IMO), they’ve made Belle naive and ignorant in order to keep Rumbelle afloat etc.
TV is a business. I accept that, to some degree. If they need to shore up their bigger bases then that’s something I have to live with. So Neal and Emma not working out would suck, but I’d be okay in the end, so long as he was alive.
You know, I’m okay with that line of thinking too because I totally understand that TV is a business but the two things that make me want to throw things are 1. what chance did Neal ever really get with Emma? They never even got to have that lunch or talk anything out. How do they know things wouldn’t have worked out for them? They never really gave him that chance. And 2. his story wasn’t just tied to Emma. He had other relationships that they could easily have cultivated if they wanted to and the thing that bugs me the most is that his relationships with Henry, Hook, Rumple, Belle, and even Robin were pretty much just tossed aside like they were nothing. Neal was reduced to being Emma’s love interest even though his ENTIRE STORY goes way beyond his relationship with her per their OWN CANON. He didn’t have to die at all and IMO, they just got tired of writing for him and went with the more ‘fun’ stuff that doesn’t require them to actually allow people to have conversations. It’s a sign of poor writing when instead of at least trying to let a character work out his issues they just kill him off instead and claim that it was ‘bold storytelling’ and ‘necessary’ when in fact it actually wasn’t necessary at all except so that Emma could date other guys and not feel guilty about it. He was killed off so the other ship could happen and the other thing that bugs me the most about this entire thing is all the lies. Just say you changed the story because the ‘popular stuff’ was more interesting to write and be done with it. Stop lying to everyone and trying to act like this was planned all along because as more and more time passes, it’s becoming way more apparent that it wasn’t planned that long ago at all. I wish show runners would stop treating their audience like we’re stupid. STOP LYING.
I guess you can tell I’m still a little bitter that Neal is gone. Yeah. That’s not going away at all.
