I don’t give Hook any special points for helping Belle not be murdered on his ship. I don’t think that what Hook did there was all that special or noteworthy. It is certainly not some show of a great change within him. If anything his behavior just seemed bizarre and out of character as does Belle’s. Especially when in the last episode he is trying to erase and burn his memories because he can get away with it then run off without saying anything.
Also, Hook must have been pretty close to get to his ship anyways and then he was fighting to protect himself from Jekyll. It just doesn’t feel like some great deed. Hook didn’t have to sacrifice anything to protect Belle except for the time it took him to walk over to his ship. When Hook actually has something to lose, like Emma, which it is always Emma, then he does the thing that will best protect himself from losing her even if it hurts her or is just evil.
Regina had a choice. The thing that would have probably been the best to protect herself would be to kill the Evil Queen. No one would have known. The Evil Queen would no longer be a danger. Regina could have kept the light in her heart and not had to share in the darkness with the Evil Queen. She could have hidden what happened and no one would have known, but she didn’t do that. She thought about the Evil Queen as a person. She thought about wish Robin. She thought about Henry.
I have real problems with Regina’s characterization, but i do think there is at least a change in her way of thinking and behaving that i don’t see in Hook. Certainly Hook hasn’t changed significantly enough to be getting married to Emma in six episodes, some of which they will not even be in the same place. Though, i imagine they will be reunited at the end of the next episode.

It doesn’t seem like she has been interested in doing different projects though she has talked about opening a targeted producing group or something like that. I have hard time seeing her find work, same with Colin. I just think there are certain actors that are going to be in this show and that is it and they are two of them, so they would want to stay as long as possible.
Though ABC and certain producers seem to like keeping certain actors around, so that is the best thing they have going for them. I think ABC are idiots if they let Adam and Eddy show run again after Dead in Summer and Once in Wonderland both getting cancelled. Though, ABC is a mess right now. They seem to have no clue what is wrong with all of their shows and really just keeping making crap that gets cancelled.
I think it looks more like they are going to keep the show with just a few actors back. I still feel the same way about the actors as i did before. I think it looks like they are going to use the book to just rewrite everything. Either that, or the Black fairy is going to do something crazy, recurse or something and they could just start over with a new savior trying to save the town. It would be bad, but these writers are idiots.
He needs to do the right thing because it is the right thing and not because Emma might be upset and not because he got caught or Henry might tell or any of that.
I think we are going to see that at the conclusion of this show. Bc that is one thing that he keeps failing on. Sure we saw him help Belle and save her life. Which apparently I’m the only one on here that gives him props for that. He didn’t have to risk his life for her. And basically for Rumple who was powerless. But other than that, and his actions to help Charming find out about his father, which were somewhat motivated by getting Charming’s approval and blessing to propose to Emma, he has mostly done good things to appease Emma, but not necessarily realizing he should do them bc it is unequivocally the right thing to do, like the constant good decisions Regina has made countless times in her redemption arc. I’d like to see him make that connection and see the difference by the end of the season. And I think we will. I hope we will.
I am not sure that they will. Like i said, Hook doing one good thing is not enough. Regina has been working hard at doing the right thing for a couple seasons now. I still think it is ridiculous that Regina is part of the group because of her past actions and i don’t think her redemption really works either, but at least there is something there. Hook doing one thing is not enough. Especially now in this situation where he is on the outs with Emma again and he has something to gain from acting good again for a minute.
It isn’t enough for them dating to work. Them dating makes no sense in the context of how Hook actually behaves on the show. And it is going to be way more then them just dating. They are getting engaged and married and one time doing right because it is the right thing to do is not enough. It makes them all seem like crazy people because of it. Because Hook has tried to kill the majority of them, multiple times and recently and he still is not acting any different.
They have waited too long and not done enough with Hook’s “redemption” to earn a wedding when they haven’t even earned them dating.
This is a lie because it is an attempt to deceive Emma. Hook is hiding something. He may not be deceiving Emma through speaking, but he is deceiving her by not speaking.
Also, there is a huge difference between Regina and Hooks’ behavior. As others have said, Regina has done the right thing many many times this season when she could have done the wrong thing. Hook is still being the same. Drunk, lying, thinking only of himself, no care for anyone but keeping Emma, right up til the end of the episode. He tried to destroy his memories. He was going to leave without saying anything. He was drunk when he talked to Snow and still didn’t tell her anything of what happened and that maybe she shouldn’t be happy about their engagement. Hook was still the same. There was no change.
There was no repeatedly trying and doing the right thing like with Regina. Hook might do one helpful thing, maybe, he also might not. Hook might just come back and Emma will hug him and that will be it. We don’t know, but even if he does one helpful thing, it won’t prove that he actually changed because he got caught. He has yet to do the right thing because he wants to be open and honest with Emma. He needs to do the right thing because it is the right thing and not because Emma might be upset and not because he got caught or Henry might tell or any of that.
This family should not hang out. Neither Regina or Hook should be part of the group just like Rumpel isn’t.
I still think it is so easy to write Rumpel out without killing him, that why would they bother. They could, but since Rumpel has a new baby, it seems less likely to me.
PS. Though they have been hinting in the show that Rumpel could die, so maybe it will happen.
That is not what was said though. I think Gideon said something like you can’t be here if i am going to do what i plan to do, like Hook needs to be out of the way. I don’t think he is just trying to cause Emma to be distracted or holding Hook a hostage considering he is sending him to whatever realm Aladdin and Jasmine are in.
It may be that nothing comes off it, but Emma being annoying about it for an episode, but that would be inconsistent with the dialogue.
That is true about Henry. I am not sure that the writers remember stuff like that half the time. I still don’t get why they haven’t tried to have Emma kiss Snow and Charming. I still think they are waiting to do a true love’s kiss even though there is nothing about Emma and Hook’s relationship that would suggest that would work.
I am also on the side of the new male character and the new young girl character are just new characters that are not related to the family until we hear otherwise. People have been speculating that characters were an adult Henry for many seasons and that hasn’t happened yet. This is a little different in that it looks like we are losing Emma, so they have to do something, but this might not be what they do.
Until there is some actual evidence that suggests these characters are an adult Henry or Emma’s other son or baby Neal and the girl possibly being some child that is related to an adult Henry or Hook then just no. I am not buying any of those theories without any evidence.
Everyone is just throwing everything at the board and eventually something will stick, but we are all guessing in the dark right now.
