ParticipantThey do always do nonsense like this, like calling Snow, Mary Margaret, for way too many seasons. They think the audience is stupid or they are stupid. Maybe a little bit of both, but it seems like it is how they keep track of which realm they are in even though they dress and act completely different in each realm.

ParticipantNo, it couldn’t have been later. Hook and crew were preparing to flee Regina’s Dark Curse when she showed up and said its not happening.

I agree, that it should not actually be any later at all, but who knows what the show will do. The timeline isn’t making a lot of sense.

ParticipantThat is weird because they have already said she was Gothel many times on screen.

ParticipantRight, but they usually go with the Disney version, but they might not here. There is very little that is even in the realm of Disney in the new show.

ParticipantI do think that Regina just meant it was her and Rumpel against the people of Hyperion Heights. I don’t think she was talking about Storybrooke there.
I, also, think there is no real explanation for why they can’t reach out to Storybrooke, except all of those actors don’t want to be on the show anymore. If they create some explanation, it is not going to be great. It is probably going to come back to people could die if the curse breaks, because the curse is keeping them alive somehow, by keeping them in some sort of stasis. I think they should have them all be trapped in a storybook somehow, but honestly, who knows. This probably just comes down to making Regina stupid because they have to keep those characters out.

ParticipantI think that it is a New Wonderland. It is a new Alice. Alice is the same age as Emma, supposedly, even though she doesn’t look it, so the Alice from Once in Wonderland is actually younger then this Alice. Though, you know maybe it had been some years since Regina was defeated. That is what they could pretend even though based on what everyone said, i don’t think that makes a lot of sense.

ParticipantYeah, it could be possible that Gothel is actually Rapunzel’s mother. That would explain away why Rapunzel, who is most likely Victoria, doesn’t seem to actually be a member of the royal family. Gothel also seems to not get older even though both fake Hook, Victoria, and Alice are all significantly older then in this instance, so Gothel could still be young and be Rapunzel’s mother, like with Rumpel’s parents.
That would then make Alice and Rapunzel sisters. Victoria’s response to seeing Alice always seems to be extreme fear where she just ends up starring at her.

ParticipantThough, this isn’t actually multiverse where slightly different choices were made. These are different people doing similar stories. There seems to be multiple other realms within this different realm. A different Wonderland. A different Enchanted Forest. There is no other Snow that looks like Ginnifer Goodwin. I think that is what is different with the wish realm. It is exactly the same until that one choice, so it is more like multiverse.

ParticipantIf Victoria is Rapunzel then does that mean her family is actually the real royal family and these princes and the king she is trying to get rid of are really some sort of usurpers? I just keep wondering what is going on with all that. There is this Resistance. We know someone killed Ella’s father, i would guess that means her step father not her biological father, and that she is blaming it on Tremaine and the royal family and all that. Tiana is long her home because the king is not taking care of the people. I can’t remember if they are over taxing people or what was going on there. Just, what is that all about? Is it important? Is who the royal family is important? Both of the princes are dead now, so maybe not, but are we supposed to care about that and how does that relate to Victoria being Rapunzel?

ParticipantThe are still doing the same thing though that they have done in past seasons. They are plodding along, hiding things from the audience, just waiting for these big reveals as if these reveals are enough to keep the show interesting. The problem being they are not developing the characters.
Seriously, what do we actually know about Ella’s character, like real character, not cursed. She loves her daughter and being separated from her has caused a lot of stress. She thinks she killed Anastasia and that has scarred her. She willingly worked for Tremaine because of the guilt of what happened with Anastasia. She was tricked by Tremaine into trying to murder the prince. She will punch some guy and steal his motorcycle, so that she can more quickly get to the murder. She has some abandonment issues because of her mother leaving, but that was barely touched on. She is with the resistance, but they haven’t really done anything with that. She likes Henry, but she hasn’t been open and honest with him. There hasn’t been a lot shown between the two of them besides she can take care of herself in a fight.
Think about Emma now. She followed and arrested a guy because he wasn’t paying child support. That is her job, arresting criminals. She can take care of herself in a fight. She was lonely, but it scared her to death when Henry showed up in her doorway. She loved Henry, but she didn’t think she could be a good mother. She wanted to make sure Henry was safe with Regina. She would go toe to toe with Regina and Rumpel about what they are doing to other people that was wrong, about Henry, Snow, Ashley, Jiminy, Graham. She grew up in the system and the situation was neglectful if not downright abusive. Henry’s father left her and that caused trauma and she doesn’t want Henry to know. But when it came down to it, she is all punch back, be who you are, do the right thing. She took care of Henry even though it was scary. She became part of the town, took care of the people, because it was the right thing to do, because it was what she would do.
And that all came very quickly in the show. We are eight episodes in and i don’t feel like i know at all what Ella will do and i know very little about what happened to her to explain how she ticks. I knew very quickly that Emma would stand up for the little guy. Ella barely supports her own friends. She is constantly shown to be afraid of Tremaine in both worlds. I never thought Emma couldn’t hold her own against Regina or Rumpel. Part of it is because Ella is cursed and that has always been why Ella being cursed for a significant period of time was going to be a real problem for the show, but even in the Enchanted Forest she is shown to get walked all over. And now we are standing here with all the villains, Regina, Rumpel, Tremaine, Drizella, and Gothel, all of them except Hook, have their memories and none of the good guys do.
That is why what Regina and Rumpel are doing is more interesting then what Rogers is doing. That is why Drizella, Tremaine, Gothel, and even Alice who had her memories for a little bit, have become more interesting because we are actually learning something about them, whereas with Ella and Sabine and even Henry, they are all just cursed and their behavior is meaningless. Even the new Henry has not been developed properly at all in the Enchanted forest where it is actually him. Henry is just bland and weirdly attracted to Ella for seemingly no reason at all and has become somewhere between slightly boring to just annoying to me at this point.
They need to make me care about the characters and they need to do that by making me want to figure them out, by developing them, by showing us why Henry likes Ella, by showing her stand up for her friends and for Henry and for Lucy, not by showing her constantly getting walked all over by the bad guys.
