Snow has never been my favorite but I enjoyed S1 Mary Margaret…well, her interactions with Emma. MM & David’s running around blah blah was a little boring. Bandit Snow in S1 was awesome; S2 MM who jumped through the portal was pretty great, too. They did a good job of blending Bandit Snow with MM. So I’m hoping they can get her there again. Pregnancy/baby storylines are always risky because it really limits what you can do with the parents, especially the mother, unless it’s one of those the baby’s miraculously sleeping offscreen things – which is annoying, in my opinion. So I’m not sure if they’re going to tie Snow’s hands with the motherhood thing, but I’d really like to see that nice blend of Bandit Snow and MM again. She, I think, would be able to open her eyes and see what’s right in front of her.
I think regardless, David is going to be open to CS, and that’s probably the way Snow will come around.

In regard to what Snowing know about Emma’s jail time and who she has to thank for putting here there…I think they don’t know. Simply, because I think Charming would have immense issue with it. Charming seemed…at best, ambivalent toward Neal for the most part. As for Snow, the way they wrote her during S3, yammering on about hope and home and true love and being almost blind to everything around her, I wouldn’t put it past her to still think Neal and Emma are TL, should be together and that there’s nothing wrong with naming the child Neal for that reason.
Snow is the character I have the 2nd most difficult reconciling her EF persona and SB persona (Neal/Bae was the first) I simply do not see Bandit Snow, or even Married EF Snow, in memory-restored Mary Margaret. Although in S1 Mary Margaret was far more meek and timid than EF Snow, she still had the tenacity that really motivated the character. But memory-restored MM is just this watered-down, almost wantingly ignorant person and it drives me nuts.
In regard to the press release – I’m somewhat bummed they’re going the Emma pulls away route. Although it seems like it’ll be short lived and I guess it would be more OOC for Emma to not feel the need to pull away. But hey there, A&E – we saw plenty of Emma running in “I’m so scared” circles in 3B – don’t let it last very long!! Killy needs a break!

In regard to Neal, I have to say, re-watching S2 during the hiatus…it’s been tough to watch. I guess because I’m watching much more closely, but I cannot believe when he laughs at her, or belittles her or talks down to her. It’s funny, you see Neal assume Emma still loves him, you see Rumple tell her she still has feelings for him, you see Snow doing it…but you never really see Emma’s reaction – ‘I don’t still love him/want to get back together with him’ – waver. Until that very moment the portal opens. And as said, what are you going to do when you assume someone’s headed for imminent death? Tell them they suck and ruined your life? No, you try to part with the most positive feelings you’ve had for that person, and push the bad away for that final moment. It’s human nature. But Emma’s declarations at the portal don’t tell me she still was in love with him and wanted to be with him again. Her actions when she finds out he’s alive, though? What part of “I wished you really were dead” screams ‘let’s get back together!!’ What part of hiding out at the docks and standing him up (oh, and wondering if dear ol’ Dad’s just trying to keep you from another man) says ‘I love you!’ Except for that one moment at the portal, I don’t ever see present-tense Emma even momentarily contemplating resuming their romantic relationship.
Honestly, I have to say I’ve been pretty pleased with the spoilers we’ve gotten. During the winter hiatus, I ended up feeling ‘too spoiled’…nothing in the first few episodes of 3B were particularly surprising due to the amount of spoilers we got. Hook/Colin/CS isn’t going anywhere. ABC spends millions on promotion (although sometimes their materials look more like a 5 year old playing with photoshop…). They used, arguably, the most popular CS photo there is to begin their fall promotion on FB. Hook had the biggest pic (by far!) in the ‘Men of ABC’ poster – even though it was technically introducing one if their new shows! They broke up the hiatus with an entire CS week. They didn’t do that with SF since the plan was to kill off one of the pair and they don’t do that with SQ because it’s fanon. We can assume, with what we’ve gotten in the early August/SDCC spoilers that Hook gets a wardrobe change, CS goes on a date(!), Hook and Will aren’t going to be besties anytime soon, and Hook gets his hand back(?!), and Hook/Elsa share a decent amount of screentime together. I don’t know that I want much more, to be honest.
I do agree that it would be nice to see the various ships and factions of the fandom spew less hate. I think we’re fairly moderate here – even with our recent griping. Tumblr and other sites can be downright vicious. Seriously, if I see one more thing about ‘rape culture’ or ‘abuse’ I might lose it – those are some extremely serious topics and I personally don’t feel they can or should be applied to a show like OUAT. But unfortunately, I also don’t know that there is a way to change it. The fandom is enormous and like any huge group, you’re going to have people that are septic and should really consider pulling up a seat in the shrink’s office. But when you focus on the good, embracing the fandom can be a lot of fun. So I think it has to be each person’s choice – engage in the negativity or attempt to shield yourself from it as much as possible.

Haha, @Bo-Peeps, I did! And I think your option is the best! What silliness. There is a blog on Tumblr that is far more anti-Neal than I could ever be (I really don’t dislike him, he’s just not the right choice for Emma…and he’s kind of a doof) but it’s hilarious because it finds the most ridiculous of the ridiculous anti-Hook/CS arguments and blows them out of the water, I can’t help but read and get a good chuckle (Zumpie). I have to check out those essays from Screwball Ninja; although I don’t agree 100% with her, she tends to make some very excellent points and observations. 26 days until we can make new observations!
Okay, I don’t know whether that’s more funny or sad! No, actually I’m going with funny, but it IS a little sad how much they’re grasping at straws in an effort to denigrate Hook. And even if they wanted to show a strip club (which they don’t), I don’t think they could if they want to keep the PG rating. Here was my response to that
As Emma would say: Really? The bar Hook was coming out of was the Rabbit Hole. Not a strip joint. Ladies Night just means they’ve got a special promotion on, probably that ladies get cheap drinks if they go to the Rabbit Hole on that night. I know Hook gets a lot of hate from some members of the Neal/SF faction for various reasons, but this one is just stupid. Hook literally just came out of a door, watched Elsa walk by, whist stood by a sign that said “Ladies Night” yet apparently that automatically means he was at a strip club. Seriously? Hate him all you want but a least ground your hate in fact and truth rather than making stuff up just to try and make the character look bad.
Ok…I’m sorry but that’s just….sad. This person is either 1) 12, and therefore way to young to go to a bar, 2) never leaves the house or 3) not American and has never engaged in American culture other than OUAT. (too harsh?)
If you’re going to dislike a character, fine. Dislike them. But before posting comments and opinions for the world to see, think it through! I beg you! If y0u even watch the show a little, you know that’s probably the Rabbit Hole, the only bar in town. (Shocker, a pirate in a bar??) And Ladies Night? That’s a staple in American bar culture. Actually…the idea of Hook leaving the bar after Ladies Night is what makes me laugh! Especially after the Jolly Roger when it was SHOWN point blank that Hook no longer even looked at another woman much less ‘engaged’ with one…can you see poor irritated Hook just wanting to go to the local watering hole to get a drink and he’s stuck at a Ladies’ Night? With all the hammered girls drinking for 1/2 price and the guys hitting on said drunk girls? Now that is funny. Good lil joke, A&E!

It is quite possibly the grossest “food” ever created. Unnatural doesn’t even begin to describe…Hook’s ‘hallucination’ does fit, though.
And my poor pirate – he knows it’s not medicine! Although I do see him thinking it a ‘comfort’ food like chicken soup, so yes, going overboard with it whenever Emma and Henry so much as sniffle…
I just rewatched a few of the late S2 episodes the other day and wanted to smack Neal across the face…which was new for me since I usually thought he was fine, just not my particular choice for Emma. Although it did cement my belief that there was no way for SF to work. Neal just made too many wrong decisions FOR Emma, instead of letting Emma CHOOSE for herself (an extremely important theme for Emma, I think most of us here agree on!) for that relationship to ever be salvaged. However, although I totally disagree with his choices, I do still think he wasn’t ‘bad,’ more of an easy pawn for other peoples’ agendas. I did like Neal and Henry’s relationship and do feel that Neal’s purpose to the show wasn’t necessarily over, because paralleling Neal & Henry’s relationship with Neal & Rumple’s could have made for some interesting storytelling. However, with an enormous cast, and multiple storylines, not all can be told and ultimately, the writers chose Neal’s stories were not as integral to the overall plotline to continue with it. (I think this is where the cries of ‘CS fanservice’ stem from.) As others mentioned, that decision could very well have stemmed from the fact that the writers are telling Emma’s story primarily. If this were Henry’s story, or Rumple’s, Neal would still serve much purpose. But because this is Emma’s story, and there was just no way to salvage SF, Neal served his purpose.
As for the ‘Big Bad’ storylines, I would like them to spread them out to a full season. I liked both NL & Oz, but there was so much we didn’t get to see because the writers only had 11 episodes to tell them. As a result, the villains’ motivations seemed (to me) to get ridiculously simplified (jealous of a sister she never knew? he didn’t want to be a dad?) and didn’t really answer the question ‘why are they doing this?’ It also lends more time to spend on the more interpersonal relationships between the characters…however, while this is someone like Jane Espenson’s forte, the EPs tend to enjoy the bigger, shinier aspects more. (Sometimes I wonder how incredibly different OUAT would be if someone like Jane were the showrunner…she really needs to develop her own fantasy show after OUAT ends!)
Also I had a thought the other day. What if Hook wasn’t the one blackmailing Rumple but Maurice (Belle’s dad) was. After all, theoretically, Rumple could just make Hook disappear but he can’t just get rid of Belle’s dad. Plus we’re supposedly meant to be seeing a lot more of Maurice next season, why would that be unless he’s blackmailing Rumple? Also love the croc shoes. Makes you wonder what Rumple was thinking when he did that. His own little private joke maybe?
I do like this idea, POM! I just don’t want it to be Killian because that’s far too predictable. Established enemies, the obvious character to be blackmailing Rumple…but Maurice would definitely be interesting. And after JUST letting bygones be bygones for Belle’s sake and giving her away to Rumple in marriage…that’d definitely be an interesting storyline.
