ParticipantI think the loss of the hook boils down to 2 things:
1) Logistics. If they have him wear a hook and change his clothing they have to be extremely careful in what they put him in. They have to make it look like his hook is generally the same length as the other arm, and not a hand holding onto a hook. They’re limited to color, sleeve length…and they would have to get everything custom made to have one longer sleeve than the other. It’s not really feasible.
2) I think that’s the whole point. Hook’s trying to figure out who he is – to lose something that’s a physical part of you and has been for 3 lifetimes…yeah, a hand might make you look like everyone else but it makes you wonder who you are without that part of you. It’s the visual part of Hook’s struggle to figure out who he is and who he wants to be.
Ugh, I hope they don’t go the Hook blackmails Rumple route. Simply because it’s the obvious choice. Pick someone unexpected, mix it up a little.

ParticipantRegina has so much to be held accountable for yet it seems all her misdeeds get swept beneath the rug so if Rumple suffers, Regina should suffer too! I hope Hook isn’t blackmailing Rumple since Rumple is one of my favourites and I only really started liking Hook in 3B and don’t want him to backslide into Season 2 Hook territory. What I think would be more interesting is if Hook was trying to help Rumple dealing with the blackmail. Hook may figure out that, because of the fake dagger, Rumple actually had the means to kill Zelena. I don’t see Hook being upset that Zelena is dead. She cursed him and threatened Henry and Emma and was a risk to everybody. I want to see Hook trying to help Rumple and Rumple gives Hook his hand back as thanks. If Hook at least tries to help Rumple, I would love him even more.
I agree, I would love to see the two working together than one blackmailing the other. Blackmailing your enemy is so cliche. But the S3 finale showed that Robert & Colin have some excellent chemistry – I would love to see them very begrudgingly working together. With lots of snark and sass. I think they’ll realize fairly on they’re going to have to – for Henry’s sake. I think both men are going to show they want to be in Henry’s life (and no, not because Killian wants to get in his mother’s pants, because he actually wants to know Henry – yeesh! Thought I’d toss in some anti-Hook gibber gabber). And Henry is exactly the kind of person that would encourage them to work together. Heck, Henry’s the kind of kid that would set up some kind of situation to force them to work together! I don’t think they’ll go Hook is blackmailing route – again, cliche – because the writers do like to take some common tropes and play with them, so I don’t know that they’d present such a bland storyline.
[Ok and someone help me — where is this ‘Killian has a giant knife’ pic? People are going nuts about he’s going to chop off his hand and whatnot
ParticipantRE: Killian’s outfit: waist up – love it! Waist down – meh. I hate skinny jeans on guys!
I’d just like to pick you up on one little thing, they’re not skinny jeans, they’re leather.
If I can find the photo that shows it better I’ll post it.
HahaUnpopular opinion – I’d really love it if they’d get rid of the leather and get him into some jeans….
Let’s look at our new friend for advice, Mr. Michael Socha
Michael Socha for Season 4 of ‘Once Upon a Time‘ [x]
Now, those are the pants I’d love to see Killy in! However, I love love LOVE what they did with Killian from the waist up! I’d like to think not only is it meant to be reminiscent of Hook’s outfit, but the costumers are giving a nice nod to the CSers who go nuts when Colin’s in a vest. Not…I mean, I’m not one of them or anything….really….tee hee.
Ugh, ok, I don’t know if my edit worked but I hope I blacked out everything I needed to black out and RG please forgive if I didn’t…

I’ve seen a few theories swirling around regarding who’s blackmailing whom. My headcannon: It’s Elsa or Snow Queen – Elsa’s attempt at revenge. She’s apparently running around town like a banshee looking at the pics – and she saw the newspaper with their wedding announcement. I’d like something like that. A little less cliche than Killian blackmailing him. But if it is Killian, then I don’t disagree that he has plenty of reason. I’d just rather that NOT be how Killian backslides; I’d much prefer it’s more the pirate comes out when he’s in protection mode. Killian and Elsa have apparently had quite a few scenes together; maybe they develop a little bond based on their mutual feeling of not fitting in – and that would make it reasonable for him to want to defend Elsa against Rumple. I don’t know, to me, that’s just better character progression for both Killian and Rumple.
It’s not blackmail, but I’d love for Killian’s hand – I’m guessing it’s back since they apparently were filming sans hook! – to be returned courtesy of Henry. I’d love for Henry to see it in the shop and encourage Rumple to return it. I think it’d be a great way to show Henry bonding with both Rumple and with Hook. And he’s the type that would promote not just an uneasy truce between Killian & Rumple, but force their hand a little in an attempt to bring family closer.
Obisgirl, (and all!) opinions are always welcome! This is our safe haven. As said, sure we’re all going to have different headcannons and opinions that might lead to some debate but in the end, we’ll all agree to disagree! Isn’t that the best part of our little corner of the OUAT fandom? Will all of the crap tossed around elsewhere if anyone’s feeling attacked let’s all get it out so we don’t become as negative as the rest of the fandom!
Will Snow and Charming be supportive parents when it comes to Hook and Emma’s relationship? KITSIS: Yes. [x]
They’d better! Seriously, Snow’s got to open her eyes sooner than later…it’s glaringly obvious how Hook feels about Emma…and she gave up her magic for him…HEL-LO!! Obviously there’s something going on. And even if you remove Hook and Emma’s adventure in the EF past, they can’t deny that Hook has been integral to their current happiness – and their daughter’s. And I need my Captain Charming!

ParticipantIn response to the Henry thing – Bo-Peeps, I have to say I agree 100%. Here’s the thing – Henry can be mourning his father and be comfortable with Emma and Regina’s romantic relationships. And I think especially Emma’s.
Henry and Emma have a unique relationship. And they are extremely close. And there’s no erasing (although some may want to try) what Neal did to Emma. And I think Henry is one of the few people that actually understand how badly that relationship affected her. Think about it from Henry’s side. When he finally learned the truth about his father, he finally got all of the pieces he needed to understand why Emma had so much trouble bonding with Henry. Can you imagine knowing your father left your mother – who you know much better and have a much stronger, more established relationship with – and let her to go jail? That your mother’s lack of self worth, in part, is due to that person? That she gave you up because she didn’t believe she was worthy or good enough to raise her child – again, in part because of your father who you have very little established relationship with? So now, if that guy was a major part in destroying your mother, but you see her with a man who you can see loves and supports her, and wants to spend time with Henry as well….are you really going to get upset that your mother is with that man? Really? It’s not the same thing, but my parents separated when I was Henry’s age – and I was so unbelievably happy because their relationship didn’t work. I didn’t cry into my pillow hoping Dad would come back, because I was old enough to realize that the living situation stunk for all of us. But they were excellent co-parents – so it may not have been the ideal, but it made everyone happier.
Henry was sitting next to Emma when Snowing announced the baby’s name because they had been reading the book together before Emma prompted them to finally make the announcement. The first part of the scene required Henry to be present in the booth, and since Jared’s still (barely) smaller than Jen, for blocking purposes he has to be closest to the camera. But to get the full effect of us seeing Emma first truly say hello to her brother, and realize she wanted Killian to be with her in that moment, we needed the shot to be devoid of anyone else. Which wouldn’t have been feasible with Jared still sitting there. So…make the announcement and then have him get up and out of the booth. So, yes, I definitely believe Henry moving was purely a blocking choice.

I’m too lazy to spoiler it out, but the interview is on the forum and obviously, TVLine…
And basically Colin has said we can expect a lot of our headcannons and our wish lists that we’ve discussed here are going to come to fruition!
And I really hope they do actually have some fun with Hook vs the Modern World concept. It’s absolutely hilarious and Colin’s expressions when he’s having an encounter are priceless.

ParticipantI think they’ll give the baby a nickname of some sort — honestly, I think naming the baby Neal was a way to pay homage (*cough*placate*cough*) to Neal (which didn’t go over well…but A for effort).
I guess Henry could play the ‘upset he doesn’t have his mom’s attention’ role…but I guess I just really don’t see it. I think I could see Emma projecting that he would feel that way and reacting to the projection, but I don’t know that I see Henry actually feeling that way, the way he’s written. And I think Henry’s desire to bond with Rumple/get his old memories back as much more poignant and compelling if it has to do with Neal, not Emma/Regina and/or their romantic lives.
Jenna_B
ParticipantThat Henry/Rumple theory is what I’m hoping at least! I just would really love if they don’t do the whole ‘the kid’s upset about Mommy dating’ route because 1) I just don’t think Henry would behave that way and 2) it’s been done. Many, many, maaaaaany times. Let’s do something different and make the couple themselves the biggest challenges for the couple…you know, like real life! 🙂
Jenna_B
ParticipantI think the Henry/Rumple storyline will stem from the loss of Neal, not his discomfort with CS. I think Henry believes gettong his cursed memories back will dull that pain…cursed Henry had never met Neal and only knew the stories cursed Emma told him, so he was pretty ambivalent about Neal. Neal’s death had an effect on everyone but it was far more profound for Rumple and Henry. So from a CS standpoint I don’t think the Rumple/Henry storyline really intersects. I think Killian and Emma’s are going to stem from their pasts and having to work through internal problems as opposed to being faced with external problems.

ParticipantBo-Peeps, your words of wisdom always make me feel better when members of the fandumb are being absolutely ridiculous! And POM, you are without a doubt my favorite Hook-convert! I love our little group here…and all you lurkers out there, S4 will be here soon — we’d love to hear from you!!!! 🙂
I have a feeling Hook will be getting his hand back. Like others said, logistics is an issue. An interview that Colin gave at one point said it can get difficult because the writers often write for him like he has two hands, so what sounds great on paper isn’t always feasible. Additionally, as mentioned, the long black jacket does help in distracting from the difference in lengths, but other colors and clothing aren’t going to conceal it well. Can you imagine that kind of costuming nightmare? They’d have to have every top he wears special made and/or altered. I think keeping him in the pirate garb was definitely more symbolic as opposed to simply keeping him in a singular costume because it’s easy.
Personally, I don’t care if he loses the hook. What I want is to see the pirate come out in various situations. I’d love to see Hook get vicious if someone tries to hurt his newfound family. I can see him being especially protective of Henry. And I love me lots of Emma and Captain Innuendo! To me, the personality is what makes the character and there is so much personality with Hook, that I think they can get rid of the outside so long as his personality doesn’t change.
