Haha, where’d he say that? I’m still weeding through the panels and interviews from the weekend.
Nevermind, found the gif for it! Hilarious.

ParticipantGotcha; won’t attempt a forum-wide thread.

ParticipantInteresting conversation about TL vs soulmates! Any chance of bringing it out of a shipping thread – I’d love to see all folks contribute! Would you be willing to participate? 🙂
A&E should’ve been prepared for that question and they sat there looking dumbfounded when asked. Although, honestly, I really don’t care what their answer is – we’ve seen True Love on the show in so many forms, and I hate the idea of 2 people are one halves of a whole. It’s part of the reason I’m not thrilled with Snowing – I want my characters to be individuals in their relationships not co-dependent!
Anyway, to me it’s simple – of course Neal & Emma were TL. And of course Emma’s statements to Neal at the end of S2/beginning of S3 were real. Part of Emma will always love Neal. Similarly, of course Neal still loved Emma even though he did move on and loved Tamara – until that whole stupid Home Office thing. Emma will always be a part of Neal; they are family. Same with other characters – Robin doesn’t erase Daniel for Regina, Emma doesn’t replace Milah for Hook. Henry could never be replaced in the hearts of Regina, Emma and Neal by a romantic relationship. The whole point, for me, is the fact that Emma’s realizing she has the capacity to love all of these people in her life. Regina’s realizing you can move on. Hook’s realizing you can give up revenge and love someone else without it diminishing how he felt for his first love. Belle is the epitome of unconditional love, and we’ll see how that plays out in S4. So regardless of whether you want to call it ‘soulmate’ or ‘true love’ or anything else – what each of these people had/have with people currently, and more importantly previously, in their lives, is/was LOVE.

ParticipantJMo on CS… Not really spoilerish, it’s a given things wont so smoothly lol, so wont bother with spoiler blocking.
Emma and Hook. While the pair seemed on terrific ground when season 3 ended, Morrison warned that Emma’s biggest challenge in ploughing forward with this relationship is “something that I can’t talk about. You’ll see that her fears, her resistance to [Hook] in certain ways are based around what I can’t talk about.” This challenge is something internal to Emma and will be revealed early on in the season.
I think this bit has got me the most intrigued…simply because what don’t we as the audience know? We know about Neal, we know about her time in foster care…we haven’t SEEN a lot of it but we do know about it. So…there’s more to those walls? It always seemed we were told why Emma was the way she was from the beginning and her storyline was about recovering from it, not unravelling the mystery of why she has said walls.
I’m looking forward to seeing Killian trying to navigate being in this situation, too. It’s a lot to know how you feel about someone, but acting on it and having those feelings reciprocated is a whole different – and more difficult – ballgame.
Colin mentioned Bae in the panel…I wonder if his feelings toward the boy and then Neal and their somewhat beginning to repair their relationship before he died will surface…I hope it does. I don’t think for a moment Killian should question whether he should be with Emma because of their pasts with Bae/Neal (no one owns anyone here folks! Especially after certain events *Cough*jail*cough*) but I would like to see him struggle with his own feelings about his death once he has a moment to breathe

ParticipantHaha I love that pic of Colin and Jen! As time has progressed Colin has really taken to playing to and with his audience and I think it’s great. I really want to see video of the tvguide panel he was on that had to be hilarious with that lineup

ParticipantHas this been posted yet? (Someone needs to remind Adam that both he AND Colin are married…he might want to hide his unabashed love for the Captain a little better…tee hee…and Josh, it’s nighttime – I’m not sure even 1 pair of sunglasses is necessary, nevermind 2…)

ParticipantOk, who said Henry could grow up?!

ParticipantI guess I get the thought process on the surface – that yes, it could be done, but I have to agree with RG & MP here…I don’t think for a moment it will be done…
If they were to bring Neal/Baelfire back but use a different actor in, I think many viewers would have a huge problem with that. I, for one, liked Neal and thought there was a lot of potential for a great storyline, but would have to say I’m definitely more in the ambivalent camp when it comes to others who have posted so far. However, I would hate to see anyone besides MRJ playing Neal. I can’t imagine viewers who are extremely connected to the character would be very accepting of recasting of the role either (just taking a shot in the dark here…so I could be completely wrong). I guess they could bring back the kid (who’s not so much ‘kid’ anymore) that played young Bae to take over the role, but I think that’s asking your casual viewers to remember and accept a LOT. I don’t know that the casual viewer is willing to be that accepting and I definitely don’t think the casual viewer is going to remember enough to be able to follow the storyline. And that’s something that A&E are going to have to keep in mind, as OUAT interestingly has a fairly large rabid (who, us?! tee hee) fanbase, as well as a good amount of casual viewers as well.
Ultimately, I think they had a great idea when it came to Neal/Baelfire, got themselves 2 very good actors to play the role…but somewhere along the line they just totally botched the character and storyline…so they did the easiest thing possible – they killed off the character. Was it bold? In my opinion, no. Taking the easy way out? Yes. And I don’t know that the writers are willing to tread those waters again.

Participant@ellemo78, I agree with your post 100%, so I won’t bother quoting! 🙂 I love that scene too…and I agree, I don’t know that I can pick just one CS moment as my favorite. I do love their little moments most, though, the understated ones. Like in NL when they’re sitting by the fire and Hook gives the coconut to Emma! I love little scenes like that, when you see Emma’s walls are down….and she’s not even thinking about those walls and what it means that they’re not down or up or whatever; she just comfortable and relaxed.
Ok — I’ll quote this part!
I know people got a bit annoyed that it *had* to be Emma’s “love interest” that travelled to the past with her. But really it was her closest friend who travelled with her, does it matter that that friend happens to be male? I don’t think her parents even know her as well as Hook does. She shares so much with him.
This is really the thing I love the most about CS – and what I think sets them apart is the fact that they were friends first. Yes, Hook loved Emma, but as said, I think he would’ve been content – and probably resigned to the idea that – Emma didn’t return his romantic feelings. That friendship gives them an excellent foundation – they can truly be themselves in front of each other. I think maybe RumBelle comes the closest to CS in that respect, but even in their situation, before they got together they had the ’employer/employee’ kind of relationship.
I agree with you POM, in regard to the fact that OQ hasn’t really had to work at this relationship – they knew they were in love because ‘pixie dust told them so’? But for me, OQ is all about the chemistry! Haha, they are hawt, I love watching Robin and Regina interact, so I guess for that reason I kind of forgive the backstory. I’m intrigued to see where they go with that ship because they’ve really gotten themselves into a pickle here….but I think the writers have been plotting this scenario for a while, so hopefully it’ll be good. Overall, I love where they left off all of the major ‘ships – they are all in intriguing places. And to me, OUAT is about love, all love…and fairy tales tend to include romantic love so I don’t have a problem with the amount of time the show spends on romantic storylines/pairings.
Colin’s been spotted at Comic Con, people!!! He is in the building and very soon – ok 12 hours give or take – we’ll start to get feedback on the TWO panels he’ll be on! TWO!!! Because he’s awesome. (Ok, maybe I’m a little excited…)

ParticipantI heard about the little ‘ambush’ plan for SDCC…I’m really hoping it’s just something that blew up in the fandumb and isn’t really something people think is appropriate.
I agree, Surayya, I would love to see LGBTQ representation on the show – it is a show about love at it’s core. Develop Mulan’s character and have her find a partner who isn’t in love with someone else (and for all intents and purposes to date, straight). Or introduce a couple of new characters. Develop a secondary character who isn’t Mulan; there’s plenty we know little about, so introducing such a storyline would still feel organic.
Interestingly, not all questions on the list are septic, at face value. #6 is an extremely interesting question – ‘you have written Emma and Regina to a point where they have a clear level of trust and care for each other. How will you maintain and develop that history going forward? – for example. Using the question to discuss Emma & Regina’s friendship and roles in co-parenting Henry is an excellent question. HOWEVER, using it to bait A&E – which in the context of this list is exactly the point – is not acceptable. Do NOT harass the writers, EPs, and actors. That can also be said for all ‘ships and factions of the fandom. Sending hate and calling it constructive criticism just makes you, the ‘asker’ look ridiculous, cruel and, frankly, stupid. In order to ‘constructively’ criticize, you have to 1st understand what that concept means.
Look, am I happy that “my” ship is the one that’s become cannon? Of course I am, I’m not going to lie. But part of the reason I became invested in the ship is because I saw the writing on the wall – and it intrigued me. There are other ships – even on this show – that are cannon that I simply don’t understand or am not particularly invested in. I’ll admit it, I’m not a Rumbeller. They’re fine, but I never really connected with them. I don’t dislike what the writers do with them, I’m intrigued in their storyline, but I’m not particularly invested in Belle & Rumple’s romantic relationship, and I find Rumple far more interesting as the DO. And, in terms of a ‘crackship’ – let’s take Hookriel. I HATE the idea of Hook & Ariel. I find nothing about that particular pairing that would be interesting (their love of the sea? Really?). Even if they had not INTRODUCED Hook as a love interest for Emma and Eric for Ariel, I would not find Hookriel realistic or interesting. But if it had become cannon, would I have gone after A&E with figurative pitchforks like some ‘fans’ do? No. My interest in my favorite character (guess which one! 🙂 ) may have waned, but I wouldn’t be attacking those that bust hiney to bring me the show I love about it.
Luckily, I do feel the negative and septic members of each ship and the fandom are in the minority. I think for the most part, many are respectful. It’s good to see other members show their support to the actors & writers in response to those who try to start arguments and negativity. Although, if someone does have the audacity to say something disrespectful at SDCC, I really hope the panel just shuts it down for once and for all. Jen Morrison has seemed to concern herself a little less with trying to be diplomatic and answering the questions asked honestly (hey you don’t like the answer, don’t create or participate in an environment where it’s asked!)
