Oh, I have faith in our little Henry. I doubt he’ll provide much of an obstacle, for a couple of reasons (and yes, I know I may be crucified for them).

    1) Biology does not a mother/father make. Plain and simple. Now, no it is not (solely) Neal’s fault he wasn’t in Henry’s life (unless he actively made sure Emma didn’t/couldn’t find him when she got out of jail. Not sure about that one.) And yes, Neal absolutely stepped up to the plate without a moment’s hesitation once he learned about Henry. But the unfortunate fact is, Henry was 11-12ish when he met Neal. There’s going to be a bond of sorts, but it’s simply not the same as if Neal had been in Henry’s life since birth and lost his father. If that was the case, then, yes absolutely I can see Henry being an obstacle. But they knew each other for about 2 weeks, and Henry never saw Emma and Neal together romantically. In fact, much of the “time” Neal and Henry were together, Neal was engaged to Tamara.

    2) Henry and Emma’s bond is extremely tight. They have had time to bond, have been to heck and back together. And though the memories are not real, they both have a sense of what it would’ve been like had Henry grown up in Emma’s care – though they can say ‘not real,’ that feeling is still going to be present in some form. And a huge “Henry” theme of 3B? Wanting his mom to be happy, to have a family and a home. So, if Henry sees something/someone makes Emma happy, I don’t think he’s going to try to end it or fight it.

    3) Yes, in S2, Henry wanted Emma and Neal to get together. A typical knee jerk reaction from an 11 year old kid. I wouldn’t expect anything else. But Henry’s a year older now, and it’s an important year. Henry’s transitioning from childhood to his teenage years, and at this age, you begin to understand that just because something looks ideal on the outside, doesn’t mean it is (and yes, I speak from experience. My parents split up when I was around Henry’s age and I was more than happy about it. They were miserable together and excellent co-parents apart. And Neal and Emma, I believe would’ve been excellent co-parents as well. Not every kid who comes from a ‘broken’ or ‘nonconventional’ home life sits around wanting Mommy and Daddy to be together because if they’re together everything will be happy go lucky…and really, being an American kid and having your parents not together isn’t exactly unconventional anymore!)

So, anyway, that’s my 2 cents on Henry! And really, though Snow gets things in her head and has decided that Neal and Emma should be together, I think she’ll be ok sooner than later. I honestly think Emma and Hook’s biggest obstacles are going to be Emma and Hook themselves. Oh, I really do hope A&E have a ‘light’ take on CS…their ‘angst’ in trying to navigate this relationship could be excellent material for those moments OUAT needs to breathe amidst the chaos.

I think part of the reason Snow is so pro-Neal is simply because from her own experience, you love one person and that’s it.  So she has difficulty comprehending that.  What is interesting though is that the ‘new guy’ has no desire to ‘replace’ Neal because Neal was important to Hook as well.  W hich is out of the norm for tv.  I think Hook will be instrumental in helping keep Neal’s memory alive … if Snow can open her eyes and realize she’s the most destructive aspect in her relationship with Emma, accepting Hook will easily fall into place.  Hopefully her husband talks some sense into her…although they both need to realize they’re never goimg to have that parent/child relationship with Emma.  Heck, out of the 3 of them, Emma has more life- experience than David and Snow anyway!

Ok, so I just read a post (meta?) on Tumblr and I’m going to repost portions of it here – it’s really long. But it’s an amazing post about Emma and her relationship between Hook (romantic love aside, the familial bond that’s growing between them) vs her parents (trying and failing to parent their ‘child’).

Ugh, I give up.  I’m just posting the link.  🙂

Argh.  Forgive my edits.  I’m re-doing my post – switched into text by accident and screwed it all up.

Haha, actually, I can see Henry being one to set a search for the JR in motion. “Real life” pirate, swashbuckling kind of stuff, and Emma even getting into it because she realizes getting the JR back is an amazing way to show Killy how she feels (because we know she’s going to struggle with those words!). And he hasn’t been to the Enchanted Forest yet! I say the CaptainCobraSwan set off on their own story and leave the others to deal with Elsa and co.

Ok, so there’s a thread going but I know not all of us visit the other threads, but I’m curious so I’ll pose the question here – headcannons for S4? Things you’d like to see happen? (CS and not CS) What’s your opinion about the whole Elsa/Frozen thing – is she going to be a villain? I kind of think she’s a misdirect – if I recall, isn’t she only actually supposed to be in about 9 of the 13 episodes in 4A? I haven’t seen Frozen but from what I hear, I can’t imagine she’d be considered a villain, unless it’s something like the town thinks she’s evil and learns they were wrong and there’s no big bad at all?

I like that idea, @WR! Regina needs girlfriends. Like real, actual girlfriends that aren’t her stepdaugher or stepgranddaughter-who’s-also-her-stepgreatgrandson’s-biological-mother…who are probably the closest thing to girlfriends she’s got right now, and we know it’s going to be a little…tense…’cause of that whole Emma brought RH’s wife back thing.

Actually, not that it’s headcannon, but something in general I’d love to see is more friendships forming. True love, soulmates, I can’t live without you, blah blah…I’d love to see some of the female bonds strengthen – Ruby/Snow, Snow/Emma, Belle/anyone who isn’t Rumple…the bromances, too. And while we’re at it, can we get Henry some friends already?!

I think our headcannons are spinning a little out of control (whose? ours? Never! 🙂 ). I think whatever story they’re planning with Frozen HAS to be fairly simple for two reasons – and this is assuming Elsa is the ‘big bad’ of 4A, which I’m still not convinced about…

    1) Every other “villains'” backstory is fairly simple – Regina lost Daniel, Rumple lost Bae, Zelena was abandoned by Cora and rejected by her adoptive father, Hook lost Milah…oh look, a theme…wait, Pan was just pure evil. No wait, maybe he wasn’t. He was selfish when he chose NL/childhood and abandoned Rumple, but maybe that’s what caused him to become more evil over the years…anyway, back to the point. The backstories are fairly simple. Come to think of it, most of the characters’ stories in general are fairly simple…

    2) Elsa herself is only supposed to be in about 9 episodes, and I believe Anna and the dude (still haven’t actually seen Frozen yet, gotta get on that) are in fewer. That’s a really short period of time to give them complex stories, much less at least attempt to make them believable.

I think it’s a lot more simple – the concept of Elsa as the ‘Big Bad’ is all about perception. People think she’s dangerous because of her powers, so Rumple locks her away. Rumple certainly wouldn’t think twice about doing something like that – especially if he believes that person is stronger than him. The town believes she’s evil so they try to ‘defeat’ her, only to realize there’s nothing to defeat. Anna and dude find out she’s been released and come to find/save her.

I wonder about the clothing because I remember A&E were really adamant about Hook NOT changing his clothes circa NYCS…I mean, ok yeah, seeing a pirate in present day NY may not be the most unusual thing you’ll see in that city, it’s still a pretty odd…and you’d think he could’ve picked up something a little different to wear along the way…so I wonder if they’re keeping him very specifically dressed in one particular outfit for a reason. It could be a nice way to visually show he’s no longer Hook but has completely re-embraced Killian.

If you watch Sleepy Hollow, they did an excellent few scenes addressing the main character’s period clothing – it was hilarious. I would definitely want Hook to remain Hook, even in modern day clothes. The coat HAS to stay. I can see Hook getting into that “trendy but doesn’t look like he’s trying to be trendy I’m just that hot” look – he’s got to remain devilishly handsome after all!!

The Snow thread is getting a bit interesting, but I agree the Regina thread was going in circles.  I suppose because she’s so polarizing.  I mean, I like Regina and love OQ but you can’t really boil Regina down to ‘it’s not her fault, it’s everyone else’s’.  Even that argument is stripping Regina down to just being a big ol’ victim…and Regina would probably have opinions about THAT!  (You know if she were real and all)

Haha, can I just say it is so true about the scruff!  Hook’s the guy you want to experience that ‘fun’ he mentioned to Emma in NL with and Colin…you just want to hand a cookie and let him be on his way.  I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone who looks more different with just a little scruff than him….although it might be the leather, too…hmmmm….  🙂

    ~~

So since S4 starts filming soon and (hopefully) that means spoiler pics —

we’ve talked about Hook’s wardrobe before but now that CS is canon I keep thinking about it and wonder what others’ opinions are…do you think they’re going to change the wardrobe this season?  If so, what do you think Hook/Killy would dress like?   Do you think Emma will have to push it or will he want to change his look to fit in with the rest of SB?
