    I think Henry acting out when it comes to Hook is taking the easy road.  It’s the story we always see – the struggle to make a blended family work.  However, what I’d like to see is Hook and Henry to continue to bond, and primarily over Neal as opposed to Emma.  I’d like to see Henry get to ‘know’ his father through both Hook and Rumple – his father isn’t there to help him grow into adulthood but those that loved Nealfire as a child can and should step up and help Henry become the man they believe his father would want him to be.  I think that’s a far more compelling story.  I’d also like to see Emma learn more about Neal through Hook and Rumple’s eyes.  To me, it keeps Neal’s memory alive and allows the characters involved with him move on.  Of course, that’s a tall order for the guys who love their flashy toys!

    Hahaha I remember the Killy and Kitty gifs!  I love ’em!

    ~~~
    By the way, before the last blow up in the fandom, some of us started making a conscious effort to bridge some of the gaps on this forum at least by going back into some of the character threads and discussing.  It’s been interesting – but it’s shown that when we make an effort to be respectful and open minded, we can have some good discussion.  Sometimes we’ve had to agree to disagree (we started with Emma…but we’ve moved on to somewhat more neutral territory with Rumple) but I encourage those who don’t venture out of our the thread to check it out.  It’s nice to see that in some places, at least, we can let the crap that gets slung around be put aside and let differences be constructive, not destructive!  🙂
    First, can I just say how refreshing it has been to character debate the last couple of weeks, first with Emma and now with Rumple?  I know some of us expressed the desire to do so, and the difficulty of it, in other threads, but I think we’re doing a good job!  I think we’ve got a little ‘representation’ from various ‘subgroups’ that make up the fandom and though sometimes we’ve had to just agree to disagree, but for the most part I think this little experiment we’ve taken on is showing that we can have respect for and appreciate those with differing opinions.  I know there’s a lot for people to be fired up about right now, but I think if we allow ourselves to vent in the appropriate arenas and approach the other threads with open minds and respect, we can have some excellent discussion and debate, and maybe even see our show in different lights.
    And second, I love RG’s idea of subjecting Belle to our analysis next!
    ~~
    Ok, so back to Rumple.  I’d read somewhere that Bobby likes the idea of Rumple being bad…I can imagine, how much fun can it be to play the Dark One?!  That man has some some serious range, it’s amazing.  And that’s what makes me so on the fence when it comes to Rumple.
    I think it would be nice to see him eventually get to the place where he can truly release the Dark One…but I hope the struggle goes on for a while because I simply love watching it!  I’m hoping they do spend a little time on Rumbelle this season, because I think in order to really accept the marriage, I need to see Belle find out about the death and I need to see where Belle will finally draw the line.  I don’t know that you can be truly ‘good,’ like Belle is, and accept so much ‘bad’ that still exists inside Rumple as easily as she seems to have.  There comes a point where you have to ask – do these people truly love each other as they are, or who they perceive the person to be?  (I think they are TL, of course, but I think it’s time for them to really take a good hard look at themselves and their relationship.)
    BA-HAHAHAHAHA  POM that lil dialogue was hilarious – and spot on.  Oh, I hope they do include just  a little of Emma and Hook trying to adjust and Henry just having a blast playing puppeteer with them.
    I don’t know, I think Henry will be fine with it.  He’s already fine with Robin Hood as one Mom’s boyfriend – and Regina’s the parent that’s been there the longest.  Like you said, POM, Henry and Hook get along well – and I think Henry’s struggles in the past season have shown how much Henry has grown up.  Unfortunately, ultimately, Henry didn’t know his father for very long, and even his 11 years of fake memories weren’t positive ones (though he knows they’re fake, like Emma, those memories can still imprint on Henry).  I think Henry will mourn the relationship he could have had with Neal, but I don’t know that he’d take it out on Hook/CS.
    I think their struggles will be more interpersonal.  They have both shown the other that they will not abandon them, that they will always be there for them, but they are still very different people from very different worlds.  Look at Hook’s interactions with our world – ‘bologna,’ ‘why are you wearing THAT?’ (still one of my favorites!), ‘Like a GPS? … Aye’… though Hook’s difficulties with our world have been for amusement so far, he still is going to have to settle in, and really try to adapt, which if they aren’t in crisis mode, might be difficult for him to do.  And Emma’s finally gotten to the point where she can accept Hook’s love, but that doesn’t mean she’s not going to freak – and a lot.  Can you see Hook’s Old World concepts of ‘courting’ and ‘wooing’ Emma?  Hilarity!  But also, the potential for friction between the two.  So I think while they’ll be a strong team against whatever disaster is sure to strike, I think the ‘coming home and putting your feet up’ part is really what will present challenges for them.
    And if Hook’s going to have to adapt – he needs himself a wardrobe change!  Finally!  I’ve decided he should be a jeans and t-shirt/henley kind of guy but keep the pirate coat.  Should I start inundating Colin & Jen & Adam with tweets and posts and skywriting airplanes demanding this now, or wait a bit?  (Too soon?)
    Ok, I feel like we need some goodness, so I’m going to post this here in our haven.  Because it’s so stinking cute I love it.  And we need some stinking cuteness right now.  I think the last bit’s my favorite – hahaha
    Operation Find Colin…a success!
    No, that’s not Photoshop, people. That really is me and Colin. I actually met him. In person. Damn near swooned. Literally. I don’t think my heart has slowed down properly since. Here is the tale (where I come out mostly lame IMO, LOL):
    I got home from work to an askbox filled with messages: COLIN’S IN EAST NASHVILLE. GO. You know who you are. And seriously, East Nashville’s a big place. But the Colin tag to the rescue! So I figured out which bar in East Nashville and hopped in my car and drove over there.
    There were a bunch of trucks and vans outside, so I figured I must be in the right place! So I stood across the street for a while, like an HOUR while, not wanting to interrupt their filming or crew or anything. (Like I said, lame. I normally don’t have the balls to even do something like this but it’s BLOODY COLIN O’DONOGHUE. I had to at least try.)
    Anyway, eventually one of the crew guys, Kevin, saw me and waved. I ran across the street and said that I didn’t want to bother them, but I wondered if I could say hello to Colin. I explained that I was just a normal (HA!) fan, and after I spoke to him I’d be gone and out of their hair. So Kevin (he really was the best!) went and spoke to the producers and came back and said that they had just started rolling but as soon as they had a break, he’d get Colin for me. Then he came back like twice more to let me know he hadn’t forgotten me, to just sit tight.
    So I waited. Another crew guy let me back onto the patio where some other crew were just hanging out while they were rolling inside. And I waited some more.
    Then the side door opens and there’s my new friend Kevin with Colin in tow. As soon as I saw him, my first words were “OH MY GOD.” Like you are not prepared for Colin in person. You think you are, but NOPE. He smiled that silly grin at me and…thank god, I was leaning against the wall cause I’m pretty sure they would have been scraping me off the pavement.
    So Colin comes over holds out his hand (which I shook, good handshake on that man, like anyone is surprised) and says “Hi, I’m Colin.” LIKE i DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, YOU PRECIOUS BB. And no, you’re not ready for the accent either. Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I managed to tell him my name and that it was so nice of him to come out. And he said, “Did you want a picture?” My yes may or may not have been a bit too loud. Sorry Colin. Anyway, I pulled out my phone (that has my Captain Swan case on it!) and handed it to Kevin, who took THREE pics of us. The above is the best one, although they are all amazing.
    I asked him how he liked Nashville so far and he said it was really nice, but he hadn’t seen a lot of it yet since they were so busy. I managed to babble about my move here ten years ago and how much I loved it here and if he got the chance he should see more of it. And he said he’d try. (with that damn grin again, please stop, Colin)
    He said it was nice to meet me and I thanked him (and Kevin!), shook his hand AGAIN, waved and headed on my way. Shaking all the way to my car. I’m pretty sure my heart hasn’t recovered yet. HOLY SHIT I JUST MET COLIN O’DONOGHUE.
    A few other things: he smells good. Like really good. Those worried for some reason about scruff: DON’T WORRY. I could already see it growing back in and he probably shaved this morning. Relax. Two days tops and the Hook scruff is back. 😀
    Rumple is possibly the most complex character on OUAT, but I think he’s the one least understood – even by the writers.  I think sometimes the writers convince themselves that because Robert Carlyle could act his way out of a paper bag and the Dark One Rumple is flashy, people aren’t going to ask too many questions.  I’m hoping they soon realize this just isn’t the case.
    I agree – the Rumple/Pan dying thing simply does not make sense to me.  I don’t think the dagger, even if it made it’s way through Pan and to Rumple, would have caused Rumple’s death simply because he was stabbed.  So maybe it’s due to the magical properties?  The shadow, or lack thereof?  I haven’t really seen a great theory I can get behind and I definitely have not been able to come up with one myself.  But as said before, that arc is over, so it’s doubtful we’ll ever understand.
    In regard to RumBelle — I have problems with them because I think they have potential to be a fantastic couple, but there is just too much that, for me, can’t be explained.  I get that Belle is forgiving and all, but to forgive to the extent that Belle apparently does is simply unrealistic – even for me, and I let OUAT get away with a LOT when it comes to not being realistic.  Does – and maybe people who have better knowledge of Belle/RumBelle can clarify – know EVERYTHING that Rumple has done as the Dark One.  Does she have full understanding of Rumple as the ‘coward’ (another debatable concept but I’ll leave that alone for now), and his motivations for even becoming the Dark One in the first place?  Or does she just turn a blind eye?  Does she not SEE how much he teeters on that line between being a good man and returning to full on Dark One persona?  If a man’s own son leaves him, wouldn’t that cause a potential romantic partner to pause if just for a moment and ask themselves ‘why’?
    I think Belle will have to finally face who Rumple is/was and who she perceives him to be first and foremost.  And I think I agree that yes, that would be very difficult to do when together – so they may need some time apart.  And a LOT of time on Archie’s couch!  I think part of the reason Rumple felt justified in first lying to Belle about the dagger, and then killing Zelena, and THEN hiding all of it is because he’s been with Belle long enough to believe that she’s probably going to forgive him.  Because that’s what she does.  Rumple doesn’t have the motivation to truly change – because he has that person to depend on and the belief that virtually anything he does, no matter how bad, will be considered excusable in the eyes of the one person that matters.
    I love the Dark One – I could watch DO all day and not get bored – so for my own amusement, I wouldn’t necessarily mind if we see Rumple do a full-on reversal and have to start over from the beginning to redemption, I admit.  I don’t know if I’d be as interested if it’s just ‘Gold’ and he’s finally good.
    ===
    Aside from RumBelle, if I could ask Rumple one thing it would be – what do you think Neal would say if he knew you ‘avenged’ his death?  Because (I’ve mentioned this before, maybe here, sorry if I’m repeating — ) to me, the last thing Neal would have wanted – especially after sacrificing his own life for his father’s and the rest of his family’s lives – is for Rumple to kill someone in Neal’s name.  Some of Neal’s actions may have been misguided but to me, he’s never anything intentionally evil – and even the ‘bad’ things he’s done were with good intent.  So what would he think knowing that Rumple reverted, embraced the Dark One and killed another person ‘for him’?
    This, I believe, needs to be addressed and I hope it is fairly early on in S4.  I think this is even more important, possibly, than addressing Belle and how she will be affected when she learns of Rumple’s actions.   One of the most compelling relationships on OUAT is the one between Rumple and his son, for me, and I really hope they don’t shove it aside.
    Ok, I finally got a chance to watch the interview Jen Morrison gave. IMO, there was absolutely NOTHING in that interview that should incite the ridiculousness that some “fans” are stirring up. She didn’t even necessarily say she agreed with the way the storyline went, she simply said this is what the writers were up against, and what their decision was. (Do I agree? No, I still think they should’ve done a true redemption arc, have Emma make a choice, and then – thanks septic “fans”, cause I didn’t think this before, but I sure do now – then kill him off.)
    I also saw that “letter to the writers”. I’m not even going to give that one a minute’s worth my time or energy because I think that’s pretty much the epitome of childish.
    You know what I think it the most hilarious about these loud, immature fans? The fact that they are their own worst enemy. How many shows have I started watching, or movies I checked out, not because it looked interesting before the premiere, but because of the hoopla it drummed up? More than a few. So the more they threaten to stop watching and therefore force the show to be cancelled and blah blah blah, the more free press they give the show!
    The opposite of love is not hate. It’s apathy. When you hate a person, for example, you are still actively involving yourself with that person. You may be trying to get that person to do something negative or react to whatever you’re saying or doing, but when you hate you are still full of negative, septic emotion for that person. However, when you become apathetic to someone? When you show nothing they do or say is going to bother you? You remove yourself from the situation and, by extension, rid yourself of an enormous amount of negativity – and make far more of an impact on that person. Why hate and allow that negativity into your life, when you can let go? Why waste your time? The same applies to fandoms – don’t waste your time and energy with hate. You just make yourself look foolish and trite, and in your attempt to get others to agree, your followers simply commiserate with you and people on the fringes of the situation just become intrigued and want to check out what you’re griping about for themselves.
    People are freaking ridiculous. Jennifer’s been tweeting a storm and they’re going to give her crap about her comments regarding the show? JUST STOP WATCHING ALREADY!!! When will people realize all they’re going to do is encourage the actors/writers et al to go silent and post/tweet/interact absolutely nothing.
    End rant.
    Happy Tuesday all!!
