ParticipantSpeaking of Ouat minions, I saw this this morning at it made me laugh!
bemusedbicycle:But can we have Olaf be the evil minion? And every time there is a showdown he goes straight for Hook, muttering about warm hugs while trying to wrap his little twig arms around Hook’s legs. And stabbing him with his carrot nose. And Hook develops an irrational fear of snow because literally every single battle Olaf goes straight for him and Emma thinks it’s hilarious that he is afraid of a snowman. That reaches his knees. Barely.
(And when Hook wakes up in the morning and climbs out of bed next to Emma and pulls back the curtains, Olaf is there – and he slides his little twig fingers across his throat.)
I’m sorry I’m dying.
Haha, I saw this — I haven’t even seen Frozen and this had me laughing out loud.
HAPPY 1000 PAGES EVERYONE!!

ParticipantRG – everytime I hear the word or see a picture of a bunny, I think of you…and bunnies keep showing up on my Tumblr dash, so here is a gifty treat for our Keymaster (sticking it here cause I didn’t think we needed a bunny thread…that’s just weird… 🙂 )

ParticipantOh, and the naming the baby Neal thing – I wasn’t surprised and it didn’t bother me. I ranted about it a little in the thread but long story short, I pointed out that I thought it was the writers paying homage to the fans who loved the character (and “so shut it” might have been implied…).
Yay! Love the kiss pics! Everyone in chat’s yelling at me to replace my avatar and I found it!!!! Some may not yell about my avatar again….hahaha

ParticipantThis episode was just incredible, overall. I think I kept my expectations in check, and as a result, the finale totally delivered. It was funny, I was in chat and around the 30min mark or so, I said something to the effect of ‘this is really great, so far it’s not anything we didn’t expect, but -” and then BAM! they are smacking us with the feels and the twists every few seconds! I thought they did an excellent job of releasing just enough promo material (and letting the paps ‘spy’) to make us intrigued but kept amazing control over so much to make the entire episode pay off.
One of my favorite little snippets was in the diner after the kiss, when Hook and Emma are sitting with Marian and Regina walks in. Up to this point, Emma and Hook have have had conversations a’plenty with body language but very rarely touch, as previously mentioned. But after Emma goes up and talks to Regina and then fetches Marian, Emma puts her hand on Killian’s arm. It’s little, but it’s also an incredibly personal thing to do – once that last little wall broke down, Emma is all in. And proving it not only in the big, outward ways, but in the personal, ‘just between us’ ways already.
I, too, was happy with how they brought Emma’s magic back in the picture. Initially I did want it to be TLK that brought it back, but as mentioned, the way Killian just looked at her, so incredibly proud of how far she’s come and how happy he was that she finally accepted her home and family made it all worthwhile. I had wanted Emma and Killian to be two complete and separate people before entering into their romantic relationship, and I think they did achieve that. I didn’t want Snowing 2.0, because, frankly, I find that relationship to be completely co-dependent and it belittles Charming and especially Snow’s individual strengths by rendering them essentially useless without the other. But Emma learned what home meant, on her own but supported by Killian. He made her look at her choices even when she didn’t want to, but allowed her to MAKE HER CHOICES. I think even if Emma hasn’t been able to learn where ‘home’ is, and actually left for New York, he would have supported her decision, because it was her choice, and he understands how incredibly important that is, not only to Emma, but to your partner, whoever they may be. Killian first began to change because of Emma, yes, but along the way, the change became not about Emma, but about discovering who he was and, more importantly, who he wanted to be. He made that decision, and Emma supported him, beause that’s what they do. Their foundation is far stronger than any of the other TL couples, in my opinion, for these reasons.
I loved the scenes with Hook/Killian, not only because it was HILARIOUS, but also because I thought it did an excellent job of showing the ‘old’ Hook and the ‘new’ Killian – the naive naval officer and the jaded pirate combined into one, whole person. I look forward to seeing this new Killy – people argue he’s become ‘soft,’ but I don’t agree. I think we’ll see an extremely fierce Killian in S4 – he has a home, he has a family and loved ones (because I think Henry is going to give his stamp of approval!), and he is NOT going to let anyone even think about hurting his loved ones. So yes, he may not see Rumple as an adversary, but there will be adversaries. He fought for the person who he was learning to love to the death, and while doing so, didn’t even believe she returned his feelings. Knowing she does — and finally being welcomed and completely part of this new family — he now has SO MUCH MORE to live for and defend, and I think he’ll approach that as passionately has he has approached every challenge – and person – as he has to date, and even moreso.
I think what I loved the most about the episode, was how COMFORTABLE Emma and Killian were with each other. Even after Emma told Killian she was leaving last week, she kept her walls down with him. She could have totally ignored what he was telling her on the bench, but she didn’t. She listened. And she continued to listen, to let Killian take the lead. How often does the Savior do that? Not often (maybe when Daddy tells her to/to not do something!). And when she needed to, she let herself fall apart in front of him, and let him take care of her…while still retaining her own identity (“the only one who saves me is me!!” Awesome line).
Ok that’s my day-after babble. Did I mention I LOVED THIS EPISODE?!?!

ParticipantI was going to try to articulate my thoughts, but I think all I’ll say is this. I thought it was a nice gesture. Not because of what Snowing were doing, but what the writers were doing for us, their fans. They know many people were upset by the loss of Neal (Yup, even many CSers, especially those on this forum). I took it as a way of the writers showing they heard when fans said they hope Neal is remembered — now he will be, in EVERY episode, because every time they show a shot of the baby, or mention his name, you’ll think of who he’s named after, and why they chose that name. People are increasingly focusing on the negativity in this fandom; but I do not believe the choice of Neal was to ‘rub salt in the wounds’ of fans, but rather a way of paying homage to a character whose loss has been felt, and by extension to the fans experiencing that loss.
From a character point of view? They named the child Neal. His alias. Because that’s what Emma knew him as. It’s a way to acknowledge Emma’s relationship with Neal. But the man’s true name was Baelfire. They did not choose this name because yes, if Henry chooses to name his own child after his father, shouldn’t he want to use the true name of the person, to acknowledge not just the man his mother loved, but the boy his grandfather loved, and the person ‘Neal’ truly was?

ParticipantThe finale was so much fun! That’s all I’ve got right now because 1) I need to process and 2) the crap being spewed on chat right now is driving me insane. I guess it was ok in chat during the show (although seriously? if we had ‘ew’d during a SF kiss there would’ve been crud to pay) but I had to jump out after a while. So bed, process and I can’t wait to hear everyone’s opinions!!

ParticipantI am so excited! And it’s funny, not so much about whether or not CS ‘officially’ becomes ‘Hi, we are officially true love canon. We always were planned to be true love” is actually said. Oh, wait – IT HAS. But anyway, not so excited for the big stuff as much as the little stuff – where did Emma find a change of clothes? Why on earth would you run toward a glowing barn? Is Emma going to get the stick out of her hiney? (ok, maybe that one’s not so little) I’m excited that it’s this little movie, set aside by itself. It should be so much fun. And yes, let’s all try to come here to chat! If it gets ridiculous we’ll leave but I’m sure our mods are prepared (ahhhh to be RG and Matt right now…no thanks! 😉 ) And our excitement will be contagious! Ok, making myself a little nauseus with the giddiness right now again. Luckily I’m going to dinner with my mother soon, that’ll drag me back to reality (love my mother but those not-so-slightly-opinionated-about-EVERYTHING mothers you giggle at on tv? Yeah. That’s her.) So I will be back at 8 ready to be re-excited!

ParticipantI saw the new thread, and then the Hook thread and posted what I feel is a decent discussion on why Hook’s the strongest he’s ever been by supporting the woman he loves IN THE WAY SHE NEEDS TO BE SUPPORTED, by NOT ABANDONING HER no matter how much of a little pain in the hiney she’s acting right now. And why Rumple becoming the Dark One and basically doing everything possible to push his son away while trying to find him (….) is basically a fantastic parlor trick and fun to watch, but from a character analysis perspective, is incredibly weak. But eh, we know what will happen when others get to it! I’m just gonna let it roooooll off my back! Nothing can bring me down on OUAT Day!!!!
More de-lurkers! Welcome!! I’m so excited by the amount of new posters we’ve seen in even just the last few days. I really think we can make this forum open their eyes a little and see that what they say can, frankly, be hurtful. And I think we can make the forum a place to have reasonable, rational discussions again without shipper bashing – but that takes respect and posters – so come out, share, post!
Ok, I’m getting way too positive, I’m starting to make myself annoyed with myself…methinks it’s time to force the child to take a nap…not, you know, because I want to take a nap so I can jump and dance around and talk to the tv while watching our pirate for 2 hours. Nooo…most definitely not!! tee hee.

ParticipantHook is changing as a character. Yes, he’s a little lost right now. Yes, he’s letting Emma bash on him right now. And with good reason. What is Emma’s biggest fear? Being abandoned. Who has abandoned her? Pretty much everyone, except Henry. Hook knows this, and knows he loves Emma, so if being her punching bag for a while so she can see he’s not going to abandon her as well is what she needs, then that’s what he’ll be. That’s not going soft. That’s doing everything in your power to show the person you love that they are going to be there, supporting and sacrificing, because that’s what it means to love. He may seem like a puppy right now, but he’s only in the middle of his story. And right now, by doing the exact thing he needs to do to show the person he loves that he is there supporting her makes him look weak, then so be it – but knowing and doing what he needs for that person is not weak – it’s strength. Is it fun to watch? Eh, I’d love for Hook to turn around and give Emma as good as he gets. But in giving in to that desire would give him temporary satisfaction, and be much weaker than what he is doing now.
(Edit – I had to switch from the phone to the laptop – I hate typing on that thing!)
Take Rumple – now, I love the Dark One. He is so much fun to watch. Bobby’s amazing with him…but from a character perspective, did he backslide last ep by ‘killing’ the WW? Yes, indeed. Most of the things he’s done in life has the correct motivation – his son. He even became the Dark One for his son, so he wouldn’t be a coward anymore. However, becoming the Dark One didn’t make him more powerful – it was the most cowardly action he’s taken yet. And doing the things he’s done to get back to his son? Powerful, indeed. But, would Baelfire condone it? No. Because that’s not who Baelfire is. Bae would have rathered his father be seen as ‘weak’ than become the Dark One, rather Rumple lose his powers to start over in a new world than be stuck in their homeland with magic corrupting his father. Would Neal be proud that his father killed the WW? No. He would be ashamed. So…the Dark One is fantastically fun to watch and if that’s the argument, I say whatever motivation he needs to make the Dark One deliciously fun is, I’ll sit back and enjoy the ride. But from a character perspective, he may be able to do the most powerful of things, but he is still weakest at heart because he relies on the Dark to attempt to achieve goals you can really only achieve when you accept the Light.
And…now it’s time for the child to nap. I’d have to think harder to argue any Regina points, anyway. 🙂 But there’s my 2 Hook/Rumple cents for what it’s worth!!
Happy OUAT DAY everyone!!!

ParticipantSo what’s the deal with Canada’s airing? And yes, I’m glad they won’t be ahead of us as well! I jump on Tumblr every week forgetting a ton of people are already watching and inadvertently over-spoil myself!! And I like the amount of spoilers we’ve gotten – just enough to make me ask “is it 8pm yet?” every 2 minutes without practically knowing the dialogue word for word! I’m really loving that they decided to encapsulate these last 2 episodes and treat them as their own entity. I’m hoping (thinking) they’re using it for some great character development and to get Emma to finally let go of the negativity and fear she continues to grasp onto. And seriously, who wouldn’t be intrigued seeing their own parents’ love story play out? (Especially when your mother is as romantic as you are and chucks a rock at Dad’s head) And if you don’t like CS/Hook and you’re waiting until tonight’s ep to decide whether you’re watching next season? Yeah. Don’t bother watching tonight’s ep. Because I’m perdy sure there’s going to be a lot of CS…considering they go on the adventure TOGETHER and ALONE. You’re just going to piss yourself off. And by extenion, me! 🙂
It was interesting, yesterday I was in chat with sort of a ‘sample’ of the fandom – shippers, nonshippers etc. And I did mention that a lot of CSers actually are intimidated or discouraged from entering chat or participating in the threads. Some people (I think) were genuinely surprised. But some of us were able to use the opportunity to point out that as the smaller group in this particular forum, it can feel like we’re getting beat up on, which isn’t exactly positive or appropriate. So hopefully with more of us participating and respectfully pointing out when people are being a little aggressive, we might get a better reception. (I’m gonna have to try sooooo hard to control my temper! AHHH!)
But…we’re almost there!!! Less than 12 hours to go!!! Wait, when I put it like that it’s seems like a REALLY long time still….Happy Mothers/OUAT Day!!!
