Regina loved her father more than she loved her horse, she killed the horse to avoidkilling her father, but only the sacrifice of the thing you love most will make the Curse work. Hook loved the JR above all else and all others. He valued being with his ship more than he valued preserving the lives of others, he spoke about her like she was a person, he took pride in knowing every floorboard of her deck. (Flook, CaptainFloor, whichever you call it, the love is true. ;-)) IMO the ship would qualify as the thing he loves most which could be sacrificed in order to cast the Curse.
Well, then, Hook couldn’t have used his ship to cast the curse. He loves his ship but he loves Emma far more. He confirmed this much – he was hoping his love for his ship could replace his love for Emma after they returned to the EF but it couldn’t. So…ok, now I’m back to Hook didn’t cast the curse. Whew! 😉 Hook’s hiding something, but I’m definitely back on the ‘he traded his ship to get back, not to cast the curse’ team. haha
[adrotate group="5"]Jenna_BParticipantOk, chat’s down, I can’t quote anyone…I think we finally broke the forum. I blame the CS goodness. tee hee.
@Rumplegoldfan, all I have to say is I LOVE IT!!!!I’ve been thinking how this all could fit – although I think Emma plays a part in beating Zelena, I still really want that to be Regina’s battle first and foremost. But I also want a CS TLK! And with so much focus on Emma’s magic the last few eps, I knew it was building up to something, but I couldn’t see the overall curse (curses?) being broken by a CS TLK…but like you explained, RGF, maybe their TLK breaks this mini-curse while showing just how powerful CS is as a couple. We know they’re strong individually, and that they compliment each other well – and we also know they are so much stronger as a couple – so for their first act as a real, true, couple, to break a curse with TLK and save Henry?! Mind. Blown!!!
Jenna_BParticipantHaha I was joking RG. You can be as pessimistic or anti-CS as you want!
Interesting idea Slurpeez. I admit, the Hook Conspiracy Theorists got me thinking during last nights “sorry that was just me crossing my legs” weirdo line. Maybe he was forced, somehow, into casting it? And as far as we know, there really isn’t any major characters that were sacrificed for the curse….?
Jenna_BParticipantLet me tell you, if those contractions don’t want to start, there’s pretty much nothing that’s going to get them jump started. Cause women everywhere would be sharing that tidbit!! So nah, probably not, Onyx! 🙂
Jenna_BParticipant1) A CS kiss never sucks. Not figuratively anyway.
2) Bah. I’m guessing Emma’s even way more powerful than anyone gives her credit for and the kiss doesn’t even do anything. They’ve focused so much on the magic they’re not going to just suck it away. They could’ve just not focused on it.
3) A CS KISS NEVER SUCKS. tee hee.
Jenna_BParticipantOne thing that I found very interesting was the diner scene after Hook told Emma there’s too much going on right now to talk about what’s bothering him. I would’ve expected Emma to just take that response at face value, and breathe a sigh of relief that she didn’t have to add something else to her plate – but she didn’t. She started to say she could understand but – and then they got interrupted by Belle. It seemed like she was going to try a different tack to continue the conversation – not in a pushy way, and not because she’s dying to know just because he’s got some kind of secret, or because she’s afraid of trusting him knowing something’s wrong – simply because she sees he’s upset and she wants to help him.
And the blocking of that scene when they’re leaving Regina’s – that was perfect. You saw Hook move to escort Emma – just like Charming was doing to Snow. Just like an established couple. I caught her face – and I kind of read it as a combination of recognizing the significance, yet noticing her pulled back, but knowing now is not the place especially when he’s acting…like he’s acting. I love all of the little things they put in to point out Emma & Hook are getting closer and closer to that established territory.
I liked all of the little CS moments we got, but overall, I wasn’t thrilled with the ep. I don’t think I’ve seen an ep I really hated, but this is definitely the one I liked the least this arc. I felt like they kind of wasted an episode with this huge flashback when it seemed to me you could probably have just explained it in conversation. We know Cora – I don’t know if any of us were surprised that when it came to choosing between herself and her own kid, she chose herself…and was her intent to just leave her there, in the wilds? Also, I don’t know how I feel about the “sorry that was me crossing my legs” bit during the séance though. It was really weird. Like, did they feel they needed something to break up the action in the scene so they threw that in, or were they trying to suggest maybe Hook did it on purpose? I haven’t really been in the threads yet, but it seems like something non-CSers would have a field day with – a la “Hook’s in on it! He’s EEEEEVIL!! See?? EEEEVIL!!”
Jenna_BParticipantYeah…they pretty much put my son in whatever in the hospital…and gender differentiation isn’t like it used to be. His favorite blanket is purple with lambs on it and he’s 3. And it’s really not hard to get your hands on the appropriate gendered baby for a show especially when you are well aware youre going to be needing one. haha and since PoM pointed out….Mr. Winky..tee hee…I’m going with boy.
Yeah it’s definitely a foreshadowing of GOSH – of course Ginny & Josh are NOT going to be quite that cute when it’s over!
Jenna_BParticipantOk so we saw that the only reason our pirate DIDN’T tell Emma about the curse was because there was too much going on and doesn’t want to add unnecessary burden on Emma right? Yeeeah I just love our pirate!
And how freakin relaxed and happy is Emma now that she’s decided not to cling to her past and use it as a reason to not enjoy herself and the moments Daddy Charming told her about??
Ok that’s all I got. Head hurts too much candy. Time for bed.
Jenna_BParticipantSo it’s been floating around Tumblr, but I don’t know if we’ve really discussed it here.
What’s your thoughts about Hook and his hook – is it staying or will he get his hand back at some point in the future?
April 20, 2014 at 5:12 pm in reply to: The Double Edged Sword of Being Invested in Headcanons #262681Jenna_BParticipantI’m not saying I sit and dispassionately watch the episodes – as I’ve mentioned, I’ve caught myself throwing things at the screen and talking to the characters like they’re actually going to talk back on more than one occasion. And I’ve let myself get caught up in some of the plot holes. But I’ve learned I’m not going to let that frustration taint my watching or enjoyment of the show.
It’s fun to think of where the show/characters/ships could go, but honestly, I allow myself to be entertained by what is actually being presented to me. And then I go to the amazing metas, fanfictions, and character analyses we as fans come up with to supplement my watching of the show.
As a fan, and more than a casual viewer, I have to remember what I know about the show, and the folks making the show. Example – Stunt casting. It drives me nuts – but A&E seem to have a penchant for this. They get a name that their fans are already familiar with – Emilie, MRJ – get the actor signed on….and then apparently have no FREAKING clue what to do with them. Because I don’t know how far ahead A&E really thought about what they were doing besides getting their ‘name’ signed on. Especially with Emilie – she was booked for what? 2 episodes? Then they were able to sign her because her pilot didn’t get picked up. What does that say? They didn’t have long term plans for Rumbelle. Which stinks. But also explains why the seem to have no idea what to actually do with Rumbelle – because Rumple was apparently supposed to have lost his TL. So as much as I hate what they have – or haven’t as the case may be – done with that pairing, I also can’t get my hopes up because my thought is, A&E are never going to stop to figure that out. They’re plotting the next Big Bad.
I’m also not a fan of ‘endgame’. Ultimately, I don’t care what the endgame is, nor do I care if there is one in the writers’ minds. I love my characters, I love my ships. But I also know part of the reason my favorite ship is strong is because ABC has decided part of that ship is excellent promotion material. When they get bored with my pirate – and they will get bored with my pirate – he’s as unsafe as any other character. And I have to be prepared for that. Maybe it’s a pessimistic way of viewing – maybe it’s realistic. I don’t know. But what I do know is that it allows me to enjoy what I see on screen, while also having fun taking part in the fandom.
