Well…I guess you have to define lying. Is everyone lying to Henry? Yes. And it’s going to bite Emma big time.
But not telling somebody something is not lying. Hook is by no means innocent but when it comes to the past year he doesn’t have to divulge everything. No one’s going to want to be like ‘oh yeah I was so upset I lost you I turned into a scumbag again’ especially when according to everyone, including Emma, Hook’s feelings for her are stronger than hers are for him. And he didn’t lie at the mirror. He said he didn’t find Eric. Emma downplayed it as modesty and then the conversation got broken up.
What they are doing to Henry though, as a collective is going to have some major ramifications. Henry isn’t a child anymore. He’s growing up. He sees through the charade and is playing along for Emma’s sake. That is not good.
[adrotate group="5"]Jenna_BParticipant@Rumplegoldfan, once again you climbed into my head and said everything I was thinking!
I think Killian’s going to tell Emma about the WW immediately just like he did in NL when he learned about Neal. They did show some Snowing parallels but – CS is NOT Snowing. They trust each other. They solve problems together. CS knows they can say anything to the other and it will be better than keeping it from them. I think Emma told Killian about not wanting to live in the past the MOMENT she realized how she felt. Charming STILL hid his dreamshade near-death from Snow after all this time. I think the parallels were shown to signify we AREN’T going down the same road again.
I think we’re foimg to see that Emma’s abilities far outmatch even Zelena’s. Emma’s like DARK ONE powerful but with white magic instead of dark magic. They made a big deal out of showing Zelena has never truly loved or felt loved – it’s the root of her envy. And I think because of that the greatly underestimates Emma’s ability to break her curse. Especially one as seemingly fairly simple in comparison to what she’s got planned.
And I’m still calling it – HE TRADED HIS SHIP FOR EMMA! If he just left it at the docks I’m going to be seriously PO’d!!!
Jenna_BParticipantOk, I need clarification and don’t have time to go rewatch – so Hook’s choice is to kiss Emma and have her lose her magic OR not kiss Emma and have her family be killed? Or is it if he tells Emma her family’s dead OR if he tells anyone his family’s dead?
Jenna_BParticipantOh my goodness great ep. Head. Blown. I hate to say it, but I’m kinda happy Miss “I Don’t Yearn’s” gonna be yearning something awful…just for a few episodes.
New headcannon. Zelena thinks the curse will cause Emma to lose her magic but when Emma does TLK Killian, nothing happens. Emma’s magic is impenetrable. And…we find this out next ep. 😉 I still want Regina to be the one to break the curse!
Jenna_BParticipantTo me, Neal was meant to embody desperation. A very unpopular thought, I know, which is why I only dare say it here. But even from the beginning – he was desperate to leave the EF because of what Rumple had become. He was desperate to get off the JR when he realized who Hook was. He was even desperate to do the right thing, which, in my opinion, it was so easy for August to persuade Neal that he needed to leave Emma. That desperation was his fatal flaw – it caused him to act before thinking. And it made him an easy target for people like August and Z to manipulate so they could achieve their own goals. And it makes Baelfire very much Rumple’s son – as we saw Rumple’s own desperation in becoming the Dark One in the first place.
PoM, I like that idea. I don’t want them to suddenly stop mentioning Neal like he never existed. But I think they’re going to keep Neal alive (in spirit – I don’t think we’ll be seeing Neal rising from the dead anytime) – primarily through Hook telling Henry about Bae…much to many fans’ chagrin, I’m sure. But developing Captain Cobra does a lot for the writers – it keeps Neal’s memory alive, it further displays Hook’s redemption and begins to show it more than him doing it for Emma. And it gives Henry an interesting foundation as he enters his teen years – how does his knowledge of what his father went through affect him? Will he be destined to follow his footsteps and unwittingly be manipulated into someone’s plan? Will he break the cycle?
I’m still not happy they killed Neal off – I would much rather have seen him not reduced to just a catalyst for the current Big Bad’s plans. But ultimately, if this story is anyone’s I actually think it’s Henry’s – and the death of his father is one of the most important things that will happen to him, and because it happened how it did, when it did, allows the writers to take a huge turn with Henry’s character, and set him up for some amazing, growing up storylines.
Anywho – does today feel like the longest day EVER for everyone else??? I cannot believe it’s not even noon my time. And my son ‘slept in’ (till 7am! – better than 5:30…) but even the extra sleep isn’t helping. It needs to be 8 hours from now.
Jenna_BParticipantPlaying that one close to the chest aren’t they?
A&E are teases. Teases I say!!
Jenna_BParticipantI’m not sure Hook knows ‘exactly’ how Neal left Emma, he just knows he left her (unless Emma or Henry has told him, but I cant see post curse 2.0 Emma spilling the beans on that in a hurry, as she had no intention on telling Snowing about her ‘almost’ marriage).
Hook knows at the very least the gist – she says in the diner “As far as he’s (Henry) concerned, I haven’t seen Neal since he left me in jail” when he offers to take Henry for a few hours. (haha, yeah, I did a rewatch. Or 2. Chat can get confusing – note to self – don’t take polls in chat) You know, when she leans in and starts fluttering the lashes like mad. haha.
I don’t know, I really can’t wrap my head around the knight thing. Is Emma able to actually reach that deeply to conjure up a Knight Killy? She’d have to dig through a LOT of layers she hides and avoids from herself to conjure up 1st Killian then Knight Killy. But I do like the idea…
Jenna_BParticipantSo I have been wondering if I am just not recalling correctly. .. i didn’t think Emma told anyone about Neal sending her to jail. but in the diner leather conditioner eye liner scene hook didn’t seem surprised. Did I miss something or does Emma seriously confide in hook. Loving those theories on the knight
Ok, so you got me thinking about this and I needed an answer….and went to chat. After a bit, I believe I can say the general consensus is that Snowing, Hook, Rumple & Henry, and maybe Regina, know some semblance of the story. Snowing must because of Snow’s comment about being cellmates in 3×13, Rumple I’m guessing because he’s the one that made the curse in the first place, Henry because of the memories…Regina…I dunno, she just seems to be omniscient! Couldn’t get a straight non-CS opinion in why Hook knows though.
So, CS-shipper goggles or not, my thoughts – most non-CS reason: she felt she had to give him some backstory for the ride up from NY to SB in case Henry brought it up. CS reason: she confides more in Hook than even some of us may have previously thought! Personally, I like my ‘CS’ reason. 🙂
Speaking of Hook and Henry and who knows what – I was rewatching the Captain Cobra scenes and one of the things I really liked the most was the fact that Henry pointed out he knows his mother isn’t telling him everything. And Hook’s response wasn’t to lie and say Emma’s not keeping anything from Henry; nor was it to tell Henry the truth, because it’s not his place to do so. I liked that it was reassurance that should there be things Emma is keeping from Henry, it’s only to keep him safe. Hook’s given this some thought, and in retrospect, realizes he should’ve handled Bae in a similar fashion. His relationship is truly about wanting to bond with Henry for Bae’s sake and not Emma’s. Haha, I also liked the fact that according to Henry, Emma always tries to pawn Henry off on people with boats. Oh, Ems. Really.
Jenna_BParticipant‘Haters’ or ‘anti-s’ are everywhere. Sometimes it really ticks me off, because I do try to be moderate and understanding of ‘the other side’ but I try to let it roll off my back 9x out of 10. I’d like to think if they took the story another route, I’d be ok with it. For example – I can get where SFers are coming from when they talk about Neal & Emma. I didn’t see it as clearly, and I didn’t necessarily agree; it’s not my ‘ship but I could understand it. (On the other hand…SQ? I just don’t get. And I am a very open person, a same-gender relationship would not bother me one bit – in fact, I think it would be nice to see on a show like OUAT, but I’m not seeing the correlation between Emma in a plaid shirt = she’s in love with Regina…but I digress.) So if they had gone the SF route, I would’ve been prepared. But there’s a small faction that make things difficult. Just like there’s a small faction of CSers that enjoy making their lives miserable. I think you just have to try not to give into that silliness and enjoy the things you enjoy, and support others with different views. And this is the fandom in general, I’m not thinking or attempting to imply any specific people are this way; for the most part here, I see people trying to do the same thing, which I appreciate.
Anywho,I’m trying to decide what I think about the bridge, and Hook and whatnot. It’s plausible, other than perhaps a flashback to FTL and tied into the Eriel storyline. I think I want Emma to find the strength within her, and use her love for her entire extended family as the source of her power than any one person, even Hook. One thing that I don’t love about Snowing is that they almost lose their own personalities within each other. They are one half of one being. I’d like CS to be two complete individuals choosing to be together rather than dependent on each other for their strength/happiness. I want them to support each other, rather than rely on each other. Snowing couldn’t function without each other. Emma was the same when Neal left. I want CS to be strong without each other, and their relationship only make them stronger. So I kind of hope the knight scene wasn’t associated with the bridge…but hey, if it is, we still get Knight Killy so I will be one happy girl!!
Jenna_BParticipant3 sneak peeks! We get 3 sneak peeks!! Are you kidding me right now?!?! Em’s…ok, seriously, that “I don’t yearn” wasn’t even a little convincing. So…we get Emma trusting Hook with Henry, Hook supporting Emma and her magic (like he wouldn’t support our girl), finding out what on earth happened during the lost year…a wench our pirate turns down…and this is all within what, 3 minutes MAX?! Oh Sunday, you are SO FAR AWAY!!!!
