No disagreement that hook should put Emma’s needs above everyone else’s. it is completely in his nature to be completely devoted to his loved one, but I want him to be a complete person. He shouldn’t completely rely on Emma to define him. that is not a healthy relationship. He needs to want to be good for himself. I don’t me Prince Charming good, but not be a villain good. Giving up revenge should be about more than Emma, it should be because he realized it gave him and empty life and he wants more. He should still give up revenge even if Emma rejects him which I think will happen.
I definitely agree. I think no matter what, Hook will put Emma – or whomever he considers his family – first. That is an essential part of him, and it always has been. It’s what drove his desire for revenge for 300 years, so, after giving that negativity, the part that was keeping him from being a good, whole, person.
But you need more than that. I don’t want him to just become Emma’s puppy. I want him to figure out who he is, on his own. Just as I want Emma to be her own person. One of the best things about Hook and Emma is that they can live on their own, they can survive just about anything by themselves, but they choose to be together, to work together, fight together, while challenging each other. As we’ve said, choice is a huge CS theme, and an important one. I think that’s what makes them even stronger than some couples, like Snowing. Snow has said it herself – she couldn’t go on without Charming. They are TL, but one cannot function without the other. Emma and Hook choose to be together, choose to be a team, and choosing to be together is what makes their TL unique and strong.
I CANNOT WAIIIIIIT!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Regina will always have that fierceness about her I think, but I can see her turning that into a good thing, and using to protect the people she loves. Lana’s done a great job with Regina and showing her weaknesses and why she is who she is. And the more I hear about Outlaw Queen, the better it sounds!
Jenna_BParticipantWE MADE IT! WE MADE IT! I can’t believe it’s finally here!! I can’t waitttttttttttttttt! I saw that the special leaked and although I’m reading the comments,I’m not going to watch it until it’s on live tonight. I’m looking forwaard to two hours of OUAT!
I’m with you! I HOPE! From what I’ve seen of the comments, it sounds like it’s very good especially for CS!!
Did we see this article? Nothing else really new, apparently Colin’s…although after the onslaught of ADORABLE we’ve gotten from him, he had to have answered this sucker in writing or something if it’s legit…not a ‘sort of’ to be seen…
http://collider.com/colin-odonoghue-once-upon-a-time-interview/
Jenna_BParticipantEala, you MUST come here during 3b because seriously, I see your stuff on Tumblr but it is NOT THE SAME!!!! 🙂 Condensed going nuts getting everyone all excited is much more fun!!
Now. Seriously, that interview was the cutest thing ever. I love how Colin’s getting all flustered and blushing for his character it is so stinkin’ cute. And Jen’s loving every minute of it. Colin has brought the word “erm” into my life, and it is quite possibly the best word ever.
There’s no doubt; wherever Neal is, it’s not with Emma; unless every single scene we haven’t gotten glimpses of has Emma and Neal together. We are going to be gifted with a LOT of CS this half, and I cannot wait!!~~~~~~~~~~I saw a little of the Baelfire/fire in Boston thing; I try to be understanding of the other ships but the more I think about this, the more it doesn’t make any sense. I’m guessing Regina’s curse puts some basic information in the person’s head and their subconscious makes up the rest. Sooo….Great, his name’s Baelfire. But not to Emma. And it quote – “He was always Neal to me”. Which, IMO, means either, she doesn’t equate ‘fire’ with Neal at all OR if she does, she equates a horrible, life-destroying event with him. Um…neither are particularly awesome. And she’s a bail bondswoman. She’s going to have to live in a highly populated city. ‘Cause you know, that’s where the criminals generally hide out and stuff. What large city is close to Boston? That’s still a good place to raise a child? Where you can start over and no one knows you? New York. But I digress. ~~~~~~~I think one thing that I’m going to have to steer clear of is the animosity regarding Henry and Hook bonding. Like Rumplegoldfan pointed out, you don’t have to be biologically related to be a father figure. And Hook has never alluded to the idea that he wants to replace Neal in Henry OR Emma’s lives (sorry folks – if Neal wanted to play a part in Emma’s life, he wouldn’t have stayed away. Make your bed, deal with it.). Children can – and should – have various adult figures in their lives to learn from and lean on. Henry’s already got 2 mother figures – why can’t he have 2 men in his life that care about him and want to be there for him? Ugh, that argument makes me so extremely angry, in case you can’t tell! 🙂 ~~~~~~~I do enjoy the ‘Hook stole Emma from Neal’ argument though, simply because it’s ludicrous. 1) Emma is a big girl and has SERIOUS control over every aspect of her life. No one’s ‘stealing’ Emma from anyone or anything. 2) Um….you can’t ‘steal’ Emma from someone who hasn’t been in her life for over 10 years, and who ONLY pops back up because his duplicitous father caused it to happen. Ok, enough ranting. I had to get it out of my system though!!! 🙂
CS FEELS!!! I have a feeling I’m going to be doing a LOT of talking to the tv tomorrow!!! (Cause, um, apparently I do that…) I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
Jenna_BParticipant“It’s New York. People dress like that…” *snort*
Scarily, he would fit right in! Haha, when I was living there I had a cat hissing at me…while his owner was carrying him down 5th ave ON HIS HEAD and another guy wrapped head to toe in bubble wrap tied on with police ‘caution’ tape. So yeah…pirate. Sure. 🙂 I am looking forward to the Henry and ‘who IS this guy’ exchange they’ve hinted at.
Sean! So cute! I cannot wait for Outlaw Queen. Regina needs someone romatically that will challenge her. Daniel was nice and all….but he was NO Robin Hood. And Jared’s voice cracking – how stinkin’ adorable is he. I really hope they go the ‘disillusioned’ pre-teen route with him after 2.5 years of Mr. True Believer. He needs a break from saving the world too, he’s just a kid!
Jenna_BParticipantOk kids, if you haven’t seen the TVFanatic interview, stop. Go the thread. Watch. I daresay it’s my favorite yet! Not exactly new info but and sorry to any lurking SFers – but it just might be slightly more telling than the usual ‘love triangle everyone loves everyone’ spin they’ve been putting on it in every other interview. I’m calling it now, that WW is clever enough to recast a curse that takes something other than TLK to break it and we get our CS absolute, undeniable confirmation well before the finale.
What? A girl can hope!!!!
Jenna_BParticipantOh this thread is my haven! Such awesome posts today! Seriously, you all are crawling in my head, and making my thoughts sound so much more eloquent than they do coming from me! I love checking out the shipping threads too but I have to steer clear the next few days I think. There’s just too much CS to be excited about!
Off topic kind of, but from what I’m gathering, Henry’s going to be in SB before he gets his memories back…so if the residents there know who they are in the EF and SB (which is what I’m getting from the spoilers) Emma’s pretty much going to make sure no one spills the beans to Henry…interesting. I wonder how Regina’s going to handle that…
Jenna_BParticipantYou know I don’t get the whole “Hook’s redemption storyline is going way too fast”, even from a purely storyline perspective. Why does every villain have to have a long and drawn out redemption arc? I am also hearing that people are hoping that the WWW is going to REMAIN evil because they are tired of all the villains turning “good.” I actually agree, but that’s also why I don’t understand why Hook can’t be a character who literally met his true love, realized that he no longer wanted to be the villain he became, and decided to go back to the person he used to be. His storyline is unique in that he is having to convince people that he is NO LONGER a villain as opposed to one who is struggling with whether he wants to be one or not. Without differing villain storyline this show would get old really fast. That’s why, as horrendous as Pan was, his villain story was unique – he literally had no redemptive qualities at all – even right up until the end, unlike Cora right at her death, he was still evil. Both Emma and Hook are fiercely loyal to their families – unfortunately their definition of “family” has not been traditional because of the events that have unfolded in their lives. They both made choices that have negatively affected their lives because of being “left” by people they loved and considered their family (whether by choice or not). Everyone on this show has their own “path” to a happy ending. Just like in real life, some people “get it” faster than others when they realize they need to turn their life around and make some major changes. Some people are literally able to wake up one day and, cold turkey, realize what they need to do and never look back again. Some people struggle for years and NEVER get there. I don’t see why the show shouldn’t portray anything different.
@Rumplegoldfan – I want to marry your post. Perfectly said, and exactly why I love the Hook character. Deeply flawed (as they all are), trying to hide it with an entire persona, but there is good under there. I do find the characters struggling between good and bad in general more complex and interesting on this show – sorry, Snowing and Belle fans, they’re a little TOO good for me sometimes! – but Hook’s journey does differ from Regina and Rumple’s, the two villains we’ve seen that have tried to ‘go good’. I like Regina where she is – essentially a good person with one DOOZY of a mother!!! – constantly teetering on that line between the two. I do want to see Rumple go all Dark One again – it is just so much fun.can’t stop looking at his eyebrows.. they are alive!!!!
Haha, is it wrong that I covet those eyebrows?? I mean, I don’t want big ol’ man-brows or anything but I love how they’re like their own separate entity attached to his face! 🙂
Jenna_BParticipant@Sarah – they have it up in the Sneak Peaks thread…or it’s own thread, I don’t know if they combined them.
I loved the Captain Swan sneak peek. Even through I love Hook and Emma, I can’t wait to see what happens between Hook and Henry.
Me too! I think we’re going to have some great bonding there. I know some people feel Hook’s decision to give up revenge and turn his life around is going too quickly, but I think it’s just that Hook wants to let go of the past and develop familial and friendly bonds – and Henry/Hook would be an excellent bond to see played out. Who doesn’t want to hang out with a real live pirate?! 🙂
Jenna_BParticipantJust saw the GMA spot w/Jen, Colin, Josh and Lana!! What a great 90 seconds! haha. Although Josh did confirm they’re writing the pregnancy in. I know we knew they were going to but I don’t think they actually confirmed it.
Can’t wait for Sunday! And seriously, Emma and Hook need to go on a shopping spree. Hook can take his style cues from Colin….Emma…well, she can take her styling cues from Lana. 🙂
