I forgot where I read it but apparently they’re making a Broadway version of Princess Bride. I thought of all my CSers. 🙂

You all have really gotten me into Neal and yes, I sail on a different ‘ship romantically speaking, but that doesn’t mean I can’t really like Neal too! I truly think he and Belle and Rumple are just “MIA” because they’re filming separately and at some point the various storylines will connect. Actually I like that we’re getting very little by way of spoilers, I think I’m getting a little spoiler’d out with some of the characters and potential storylines. I’m really looking forward to watching what I think will be a great storyline pretty much blind. Ohhh, thought! Will Neal be in EF clothes throught 3B?! YAY!!!!
I’d like Neal to have that fight with himself to see how far he would go to achieve his goal – whoever or whatever it may be. It’d set up a great reunion between Neal and Rumple, because Rumple had that same struggle. He saw his father’s choice to go dark, as a child and therefore more naïve, did not agree with Rumple’s choices. And growing up he did things he maybe wasn’t thrilled about doing to survive but you can’t compare petty theft – ok and maybe a little more than petty theft, but that was just 1 time! – to Rumple’s decision to become the Dark One. But being tempted will give him a new appreciation for what his father went through and why he made the choices he made. Do I think he’d go dark? No. Neal is far stronger and braver than Rumple and even Malcolm ever were. But it’d be an awesome storyline to see him get THISCLOSE!
Speaking of smoochies, when do you guys think the next round will be in 3B?
I’m hoping for the next round to be in 317 as its a Hook-centric epi. I have no clue how they can possibly top the short but passionate first round. That was just epic, imo. As for TLK, well that would have to be a season ender for sure.
3×17…so far away. I’m impatient! But hopefully we’ll get lots of doofy flirting and whatnot before then!
Just popped in, was going to say Yay to knowing for sure MRJ’s filming (he has been all along its TOP. SECRET. His storyline is that good.)…and then I saw the tweets. Geez, you can’t be excited about something posted for more than a minute before it’s followed by such negativity on Twitter. But forget that – yay, Neal’s filming! That makes me happy. Happy Friday all! 🙂

I think the split seasons works. Cable has shown that. However, people are still used to traditional programming on the major networks, and it’s going to be an adjustment until they’ve been doing it for a while and ‘work out the kinks’ if you will. Bottom line, you need to offset the mini-seasons with something compelling for your audience, or you run the risk of them moving on. Especially if they’re a casual viewer. ABC failed to do that. The good news is, they learned their lesson, and pilot season will probably have them shopping for something that will hold the OUAT audience during the breaks.
S4 is a lock. @spoekenkieker, you outlined how ratings work wonderfully, I will not rehash. OUaT is performing as ABC expects and that’s what matters. In order for them to cancel, 1) they’d have to not care about syndication, which is NOT going to happen. Syndication is pretty much ‘free money’ and OUaT is the perfect kind of show for syndication because you can air it during ‘family friendly’ hours. And 2) they’d need to find something to fill the Sunday 8pm slot, which is not easy. It needs to be able to compete against football in the fall, and ‘specials’ like awards shows and such in the spring. You’re not going to pull something that’s doing ‘fine’ to take the risk of losing that audience to some major competition.
I think they’ll test the split seasons again in S4, and when they’ve got enough episodes, let the show get it’s foot wet in the syndication market, see how it does, and go from there. Which would very likely get a S5.
SK – I put my ridiculous reaction to the news that Colin’s doing publicity in the CS thread. Here, I’ll say it does appear to be a good sign for Colin/Hook. It’s one thing to stick the guy on some posters, but a whole other thing to send the actual person out to mainstream media (The View and GMA, 2 of the Holy Grails of American media no less) to publicize the show. It’d be risky to have the guy who dies doing the publicity; if you’re not already watching and seeing an interview with that actor actually gets you to watch the show, that viewer may not stick around after the character kicks the bucket.
@JennaB Tvline initially broke the spoiler then A & E seemed to reenforce that they were corrected in their assertion that it would be a regular.

But in happier news, YAY THEY’VE GOT COLIN MAKING THE PUBICITY ROUNDS!!! Not that I was worried the spoiler was about him, but it’s one thing to say ABC publicity is all about Hook because of their posters that really, only a small percentage of people see, and another to see they’re officially releasing him to the mainstream publicity hounds. That is HUGE!!! This 34 year old grown woman isn’t in full on squee mode. Nope, not me!
Nice breakdown SK! Now, I’m begrudgingly admitting the death will likely be one of the 8 (but holding out hope that Mitovich just got it REALLY wrong!!), but I still don’t see it being story related. Like you said Betsy, Neal does have a lot of story left. But so do Hook and Belle, the other 2 of the most speculated choices.
Two things — we found out today that they’ve got Colin officially making the publicity rounds. Yes, I know, ABC publicity pretty much wants to have Hook’s babies, but to send him out on publicity rounds that might be seen by more than those already fans of the show and therefore not as familiar with ABC being perceived as playing favorites, leads me to believe he might be safe. Am I saying it’s Belle or Neal? No –
because I also think about Rose McIver’s comment that “it’s not who you think”. I guess she could be referring to Rumple since he’s the most obvious, but since Mitovich released the spoiler, along with confirmation it wasn’t Rumple, pretty much the spoiler itself and the fact that it’s not Rumple go hand in hand? Ok, now I’m going in circles.
New theory – they planned the death and leaked the spoiler (half blitzed because I still don’t know why they’d blab when they did) but it’s not 3×16 as some suspect, it was for the 3B finale but they changed their mind when they realized how ludicrous it would be to off one of the regulars!! Yup, that’s my new theory and I’m sticking to it!!
