One of the best parts of OUAT is that none of their characters are completely good and completely evil. Hook’s decision to turn the page and start acting like a better person can seem quick, but if you really think about it, they showed he had misgivings from the very beginning (ex: Cora wiping out an entire settlement in the EF so she can start executing her plans). Yes, he snaps back and forth in S2, but I think the reasons for this include 1) S2 was all over the place with every character & 2) someone had to go and break his stinkin’ leg 🙂 so I think they had to do a lot of backtracking and reworking the already messy storyline. I know, people are going to argue some of his actions (Belle) but again, #1 & #2. I do believe, when you stop concentrating on the timeline and focus more on the story and characters themselves, the writing does appear tighter. (If you try to follow the story and figure out the timeline, you’re just going to give yourself a massive headache because it’s impossible to follow. )
I think A&E always had some plan for CS to take shape; whether it be, or will be, romantic or platonic is unknown at this point. But sometimes storylines and relationships can change, especially when it turns out certain characters/actors have unexpected chemistry. Jen and Colin are two actors that generally have great chemistry with most of the other characters they interact with, so it’s not surprising they’re going to naturally develop some kind of chemistry with each other. So, no I do not think CS is ‘fan pandering’ any more than OQ, SQ, SF and so on is.
I don’t believe A&E take too much of the ‘feedback,’ for lack of a better word, from any ‘ship, group, person, etc, when writing the story. I mean, when you think about it, imagine what Adam sees when he goes onto something like Twitter – it’s a loud, noisy mess. *Insert Charlie Brown adults-talking here.* How can you possibly weed through the commotion to even figure out who wants what and how can we write to make the fans happy because Suzy Q is going to stop watching if we do this, but Jim Bob is going to stop watching if we do that? It’s ridiculousness to think anyone has control of the story other than the storytellers themselves.
I follow Matt’s article, and I generally respect his opinions on shows he follows – he’s one of the more eloquent tv critics out there. However, he does tend to provide opinion on shows he fully admits he doesn’t even follow, which doesn’t really make sense. So when he says in his response that he doesn’t really follow the show, I pretty much tune out. Unless RG posts here. 😉
[adrotate group="5"]Jenna_BParticipantOk, all of the spoilers are amazing – I cannot wait for feels, feels, feels! I’m pretty sure my husband will run for cover because the squee-ing will be heard for miles…
Although this one – 10 Things to Know thread – seriously make me almost shoot soda out of my nose (TMI? 🙂 But seriously!) 5. Monkeys Will Fly out of My … Bush?
Ok, and seriously, I don’t know what would be more fun to watch, the epi or Eala WATCHING the epi! 🙂 I’m dying with your posts over here!
In all fairness, the E! article was not wise in saying SFers are going to jump ship. Can you imagine the hate mail they’re going to be knee deep in? I’d be pretty upset if they said that about our ship! So, remember, let’s keep the good feels that came from Love Day and not antagonize or let ourselves get caught up in any bruhahas… 🙂 I think the mods picked the perfect day for Love Day…I haven’t checked out chat but it looks like both threads are being very positive regarding their ‘ships. The spoilers for stuff other than CS have me excited too! I CAN’T WAAAAAAIT!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

No problem!!!!! I only wish I lived in the US so I could contribute to ratings *sigh* alas.
Don’t worry Eala, OUAT isn’t going anywhere. It’s still one of ABC’s 3 highest scripted dramas after Scandal and Grey’s…source: tvbythenumbers.com – renew/cancel index. One of the best sites for ratings analysis. They make their predictions based solely on the numbers and that network’s individual trends for renewal/cancellation decisions. They’re generally on point even when it comes to very on the bubble shows. Haha, can you tell I don’t understand at all why people worry about OUAT ratings??! 🙂
Anyway, thanks for the gifs and all everyone! 2 weeks left! I’m biding my time by rewatching S2 and doing some Neal exploration. The SFers were gracious enough to give me lots of stuff to look at, it’s really good stuff. I’m definitely beginning to understand and like Neal more. But yeah…no one will ever compare to my Hook. Even mean ol’ S2 revenge Hook. Sigh. Swoon. Sigh. And the more I “research” the more convinced I am that Milah was Hook’s 1st love, not true love. I think that may be one thing we see with Hook’s and Emma’s storylines – a strong delineation between 1st love and true love. Which is a storyline that really needs to be told when you’re putting a ‘new’ spin on classic fairytales. In every traditional story, ‘true’ love and ‘1st’ love are one in the same, but that’s simply not reality. Some people are lucky enough to have that – I know more than one couple that met in high school and are still very happy in their 30s – but those are few and far between. Emma is nothing if not the embodiment of The Land Without Magic’s reality – our reality. So to switch gears and basically reinforce ‘true’ love and ‘first’ love are the same in her storyline just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s a nice idea, but simply not realistic.
Jenna_BParticipant^^^^ I agree Eala we don’t like it but in all likelihood we are losing a regular I’ve finally straightened out my tumblr and have links to all the pics and gifs I’ve made since I’ve started making them, and all another for all my CS stuff specifically. http://thehooked1.tumblr.com/tagged/my-stuff http://thehooked1.tumblr.com/tagged/cs%20graphic
Ugh, you’re right, I know you’re right…sadness.

Bandit Snow could put up a good fight, and she’s more sneaky that Mulan is. Mulan’s more of a play-by-the-rules warrior, so I think Bandit Snow just might be able to win out.
Storybrooke Snow would get her hiney whupped. BIG TIME.
Jenna_BParticipantOk, I have no idea which spoilers thread to post this in, so I’m going to put it here for thoughts…
So, I’m rolling the whole death spoiler around in my head. I know, I know it’s been hashed to death, but looking for more input given the onslaught of spoilers we’ve been getting.
http://tvline.com/2014/01/20/once-upon-a-time-death-season-3-spoiler-who-dies/
Series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis tell TVLine exclusively that the fantastical series will be killing off a major character during the second batch of 11 episodes (launching March 9), resulting in the exit of a series regular. “The character dies, for real,” Kitsis makes clear — at which point his/her portrayer will, make no mistake, leave the show.
Every series regular cast member is a possibility – except for Robert Carlyle. The EPs have agreed to rule out that one candidate, seeing as Rumplestiltskin is theoretically already “gone” (having sacrificed himself in the name of vanquishing Peter Pan).
Ok, so…Mitovich says ‘major character’. But doesn’t say ‘regular’. Kitsis says the character but not one of the 8 Mitovich provides as examples. Every regular is a possibility – but are they the only ones? If you look through the lines? I’m not so sure they are actually saying it HAS to be one of Mitovich’s 8…they could be his assumptions, or suggestions to merely throw us off course…Ausiello does the ‘blind items,’ and if he gives you choices of characters, the blind item is going to be one of those choices. But Mitovich’s spoilers aren’t quite the same thing as Ausiello’s. Though his intel is usually better than others’ it doesn’t mean he’s not attempting to throw us through a loop. And he does tend to make a mistake or two in his stories – if you read the comments, he does often comment himself and errors are acknowledged after the article posts….
Jenna_BParticipantThanks for the suggestions guys!
Let me either reiterate – or say if I neglected to – this inquiry was purely to get information and not to start a “thing” by any means….I just ‘get’ some characters better than others and I want to really ‘get’ him because I’m thinking he and Rumbelle and others seemingly more MIA than others are just being hidden due to their sweet storyline… 🙂

This is one of the most interesting exchanges to me…they just met, she’s telling him to be completely honest with her and he is – but he chooses the wording “took my hand” and not “killed my love”. Foreshadowing that Hook is going to get slapped in the face with the difference between first love and true love? Love it!
Jenna_BParticipantHi guys – just a quick question – maybe you can help so I don’t have to thumb through threads…Is there a Neal discussion thread? Like the Hook one? That’s just about Neal? Since the hiatus is nearing it’s end – THANKFULLY!!! – I’m ‘prepping’ for 3B by trying to find good theories and analyses about the characters I understand less about than others, maybe a little less as they’re related to a particular ‘ship. I admit – Neal is my enigma. But I he’s not for you and I look at you guys as my go-to Neal experts. Your ‘BOOM’ photo – actually all of the EF photos of Neal – and Ginny’s pic of the day have got me wanting to know more! Your penguin parade was pretty hilarious too. 🙂 Thanks.

Ahhh, Bromance, I love it. This one’s hilarious! Thanks, SK!
