Well no wonder I loved the Neal is Oz theory! Haha! Actually I did not come up with it by any means. Maybe Jo did? But I really liked the theory. It was a little ripped apart and good points were made, but I still like the idea. It gives Neal a good storyline, and frankly, finally makes him a little more interesting to me. With so many characters, iconic characters nonetheless, he needs something to make himself stand out more.
I just want to add, I think Emma didn’t approach Hook first because she was still hurt from seeing Tinkerbell and Hook together. That incident hurt her deeply and the jealousy completely took her by surprise. Remember Rumple telling Emma in 3×01 that she was just a bails bond person – still looking for evidence? The Tink/Hook incident made her doubt Hook’s feelings for her. On the other hand, Hook approached Emma after she spoke to Neal. He was doing exactly what he said – backing off. He obviously witnessed the platonic goodbye between Emma and Neal and felt free to tell her – well, we all know what he said!
Ok, for some reason, I never thought about relating the Emma running into Hook & Tink to the goodbye…but what you said finally makes it work for me! I admit, when I first saw the Hook/Emma goodbye, I was NOT impressed. The rewatch(es) and gifs and thoughts about it have helped, but I still was not 100% thrilled with the “good”. But, when you put the entire day together, really, the last real interaction Emma had with Hook was when she saw him with Tink. I think Emma saw right through the “perhaps” but she definitely had a reaction that she didn’t have time to process. Hook made Emma feel many things before she ran into him with Tink, but jealousy was not one of them. If I’m maybe kind of thinking I have feelings for someone and those feelings confuse me, shock me, terrify me and then I find out I can’t even do anything about it because my entire life as I know it is getting taken away from me, NOW the walking away from Neal and letting Hook approach her, and the “good” make sense. Oh, now I’m happy.
Now I need to go read the Keck stuff because I haven’t even gotten a chance to get caught up on that yet!

I have been thinking that Rumple might be the Wizard of Oz but I have to say that I LIKE this theory that it could be Bae. I have absolutely no reason to back up this theory – I would have to go back and look for to see if there are any clues to support this. But here is why I like this theory. I LOVED Bae when he was a kid, assumed I would love him as Neal but just couldn’t bond with him. Definately don’t like him with him Emma. Feel like they haven’t made an effort to even give him much of a purpose on the show – even though he is Henry’s father and the whole reason for the curse (and now we find, part of Pan’s plan as well). As Neal he just seems kind of . . . there. It got better when they had him reconcile with Rumple right before the hiatus. He DESERVES a MAJOR plot line and a MAJOR character twist besides just being Henry’s dad since everyone pretty much called that from the beginning. Since the WWW is coming it would be perfect timing to have Neal FINALLY get a storyline that makes me love him the way I did when he was Bae. And we all want him to get his happy ending too – not that I think every character needs to be rushed into a ship but what kind of cool shipping twist would Neal as the Wizard of Oz with the WWW be!!!!

I actually agree with you. While Emilie is a great actress, I think that Belle’s role is really to serve as Rumple’s moral center. But like you I don’t have a huge problem with that. Belle is my favorite Disney princess, but here on ONCE, while I do LOVE Belle and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Rumbelle, this iteration of Belle isn’t my favorite. I’m ok with her being tied to Gold. But yes it is a matter of expectation vs reality. Even if her whole character is just “Rumple’s TL” they need to start developing that outside of speeches and quick romantic gestures like dressing him in the shop.
This! Beauty and the Beast is undoubtedly my favorite Disney movie, and Belle my favorite princess. One thing that makes me a little upset about the OUAT version of Belle is that they pretty much have free reign over the Disney incarnations and one of the best parts about Disney’s Belle is her ability to stand up to the Beast and put him…and pretty much anyone else in their place. She was incredibly supportive and loving but knew when “tough love” was necessary. OUAT’s Belle tends to lack that – she shows her unending support and holds her own against Rumple but it’s more….maybe passive aggressive? For lack of a better word? And she has an insane ability to forgive and forget.
Which is why I think we haven’t, and won’t see OUAT Belle say anything to Regina and Hook. Or anyone else who does her wrong. She focuses on forgiving and forgetting – an endearing and equally frustrating quality.
But I think 3B is going to be two fold: The WWW vs Regina and the Charmings; and Belle trying to find Rumple again with help from Neal. And they all arrive back in SB just in time for the big showdown.
This is what I’m hoping they mean with all the “new” way of storytelling stuff…they don’t need to have every character on the same 1 adventure, cutting out others almost completely — hopefully we get 2 arcs that get similar amounts of attention – and hopefully these are those 2 arcs! I liked S3A but this would make me very happy during S3B! Haha, I want to see Belle and Neal’s “so…your my dad’s girlfriend…Yeah, so I’m still about 200 years older than my future stepmother” conversation. tee hee. But honestly, it would be excellent screen time for Belle and Neal, both of whom need more than the bit they got in S3A.
I don’t think it’s that the writers don’t care about Belle, I think they haven’t fleshed her out as well as other regulars. I’m betting they have much of the entire series plotted out and have for some time. Belle, technically, was only supposed to be in two episodes. When Emilie’s pilot wasn’t picked up and her schedule was cleared, A&E picked her up as a regular because she was a huge fan favorite. Only problem is, they don’t know what to do with her now. Which is very unfortunate because again, she’s a huge fan favorite and Emilie is capable of doing a lot more than what they’ve given her so far.
I think, though, that they did a pretty good job starting to show Neal and Rumple trying to reestablish their relationship and now with Rumple gone, I’m betting that’s what much of Belle and Neal’s storyline is this season. The thing that bothers me is like RG said, A&E like the ‘big picture’ and have brought in a big bad for S3B. While I think they could write a very compelling Belle & Neal lead the charge to save Rumple storyline and have it be the major arc, I’m guessing it won’t get as much time as the WW. As much as I look forward to the WW, honestly, I would rather see a season based on Belle & Neal finding Rumple and those inter-relationships developing. One thing that gives me hope, though, is that A&E have mentioned S3B will bring in a “new” way of storytelling, so I’m realllly hoping that means fleshing out these characters more and telling the smaller, more personal stories. A girl can hope!
Ok, mentioned this in the Keck thread but I’ll mention it here…I read the other tweets posted there and I think the wedding actually has to do with the show Castle & the reference back to OUAT a redirect to throw people off….their leads are engaged and their wedding plans are part of the sub-storylines….
If the Wizard is someone from the present cast, than I really like your idea of it being Neal, @Josephine. It would definitely explain the disconnect some of us feel between Bae and Neal. I agree that Rumple is not the Wizard. Like Jo said, the Wizard is a con man. Rumple wasn’t a con man by any means when he was the Dark One and when he did get powers, he didn’t con – the made deals or threatened. But his deals were always pretty straightforward – “I’ll what you want but it’s gonna cost you.” And besides, I know Bobby can pull it off, but HOW many characters have they meshed into one person? Seriously, spread the wealth.
I’m thinking the Diana pic has to do with the Castle spoiler and then OUAT was tossed in as a redirect. It makes more sense for that show since the leads are engaged and their wedding planning is a part of the sub-storylines.

I’ve never felt a fan love like I love these two!!! Sean and Lana know how to work the Regals and Hoodies like no one else!!! It’s perfect, and it’s OUTLAW QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was already looking forward to this storyline and I love the stuff Sean and Lana have posted on Twitter but for some reason this pic put my excitement of OutlawQueen into overdrive!
Ok so I know this was posted forever ago…or maybe, like, yesterday…but I love this pic! Haha, he just looks like a little boy stuck in time out with his sippy cup. So cute.

I think what we all sometimes forget is there are about 500 characters on the show…we’re all going to love different characters and we’re all going to love different ‘ships, canon or not. I’m thinking we’ll all get a little of what we each like and a little of what makes us each cringe…but that’s what happens when you’re passionate about this kind of show! And I bet when it comes to Rumbelle, they are keeping a TIGHT hold on what is and is not allowed to be released by cast & crew. TPTB may not check every single pic and tweet but for the most part they can and do control what’s ‘spoiled.’ Rumbelle is going to be a HUGE storyline.
