LMAO, so the drama I caused by requesting this gifset?? [x] Because of the drama, someone decided to make a clearer gifset LOL
Neal vs Hook – Reunion with Emma. 11 years vs 1 year
[x]
- Neal looks happy to see her but it’s not a “relief” like it is for Killian, he acts more like a friend whereas Killian acts more like a lover: consistent with “Neal moved on and was genuinely in love with Tamara”
- Neal starts YELLING at Emma about her bringing her father to him – despite the fact that Emma JUST asked him to confirm if he’s Gold’s son – I literally do not care what anyone says, this is not how you treat someone you supposedly love after ELEVEN YEARS of not seeing them.
- Emma knees Killian in the nuts and he doesn’t get angry or anything, merely resumes his pleading.
One of these men are her True Love. I don’t know about any of you but I know which one I’D prefer, personally. Lol.
I love this gifset! Of course, then I had to go roaming around other threads and saw it chopped up in interpreted…we’ll say “differently”… not the loveliest ways to start the day. Oh, well. People are going to see what they want to see. Such is life!
I wonder, if Hook weren’t introduced as a pirate, if he’d be viewed differently. What does amuse me that the people who accuse Hook of being this vicious, dastardly villain, also beg for Rumple/EQ scenes. Two characters who, as their portrayers and the EPs have confirmed, have killed hundreds of people. They actually showed Rumple almost beat his True Love’s father to death!
[adrotate group="5"]Jenna_BParticipantOh Stelio, that’s priceless!!! Considering that Neal always maintains that facial expression, think of all the Gifs we can create with it. I made the mistake of going on the ratings thread and saw a whole page of “we hate Hook” dialogue. That combined with what I saw of the chat last night really makes me appreciate everyone who contributes to the CS page. BTW, @hookian, kudos to you for keeping your cool last night on the chat. I was in bed fuming for a good hour after I read what went on there.
Uh, yeah, I just went into that thread and was like “whaaaaa?” Holy Hook Bashing, people. I had to stop reading and just drop in my 2 cents about ratings – you know, what the thread’s about – and get out. Look, we poke fun at Neal on occasion. But I think we also do a good job poking fun at ourselves and our ‘ship too. I love the serious analysis but I also love the fact that we can in the next breath say we’re also obsessed with a show about fairy tale characters! We’re analyzing Snow White! The Evil Queen! A one handed pirate with a drinking problem!! 🙂 I just don’t understand why you have to support your love for one character or ship by being vicious about another.
January 4, 2014 at 11:26 pm in reply to: ONCE UPON A TIME RATING — links and discussions related to ratings. #235226Jenna_BParticipantRight now their ratings actually haven’t been bad, when you consider they’ve had the best scripted numbers a number of weeks. In the fall, their ratings are expected to fall; they’re on Sundays and up against football. The spring is a whole different ballgame.
They’ll have at least a S4. They’re going to at least get enough episodes to get into syndication. They’ll see how it does in syndication and that will likely determine how many seasons OUAT goes. That’s driving a lot of network decisions regarding shows lately, because they just can’t figure out how to analyze the ratings with technology constantly changing. And syndication can be surprising. Big Bang Theory has been on forever, always got good ratings, but exploded when they went into syndication. Syndication is also good for shows because for the networks, it’s easy money – no new product, but it generates ad sales and viewership. Supernatural’s another example – the show runners came to an agreement with the network to end after S5 but the ratings went UP that season…so they hit syndication, and now they’re on S9 and S10’s a lock. OUAT is a good candidate for syndication, too, because it can be run during “family friendly” times, like the 7:00 hour.
The thing that actually concerns me is Adam’s references to “a new way of storytelling”. What does that mean? Fewer flashbacks? Different types of time jumps? New characters? Plot driven or character driven storylines? Just taking advantage of the fact that they are guaranteed a straight 11 weeks of new epis? Is “a new way of storytelling” going to lose/retain/generate viewers? That’s what I’m curious about.
Jenna_BParticipantI think Hook gets carried back over by the curse and then he takes off to see Emma. Then returns with Emma in SB. FYI: I think Snow already had her baby it has been a year.
HE, I was thinking that but my only question then is WHY IS HE STILL WEARING HIS PIRATE GEAR?! haha everyone else is wearing regular clothes. Not that I mind the pirate gear, but you’d think if everyone else managed to hit the local Storybrooke Target, he would’ve too…
You’re right about the baby part…a good reason why Snowing wouldn’t be able to go. Besides, “Hi Emma, we’re your parents you don’t remember – ok, yes, we refer to ourselves as Snow White and Prince Charming, and we’re the same age as you, and look, you have a sibling!” seems to be enough for Emma to call to transport these folks to the looney bin…even more than some crazy pirate!

What’s this??? Did I miss something???

Here I am http://perhaps-i-would-swan.tumblr.com/ send me an ask when you join and I’ll follow you back (am careful about who I follow back these days after seeing some stuff that I’d rather not see lol)
I honestly don’t remember the actual “A&E said” comments. I put them out of my head because as CS it was ticking me off. I think it’s a lot of the comments that we’ve already heard, a take on the Emma and Neal “truly love” each other (with the “But does that make it true love?” left off). I do know I went and tried to find the quotes at the time and couldn’t find anything that matched. Comic Con was referenced but I watched the entire OUAT panel at Comic Con and all I remember is A&E giving their standard A&E not actually revealing anything responses.
Haha, if I can figure it out, I will, but there probably won’t be anything on mine – it’s fun to look but I pretty much only actually post here. In our safe little forum!
Jenna_BParticipantI don’t think Hook is ‘working’ for anyone else. In Dark Hollow, he specifically says to Emma he intends to “win” her and isn’t going to do it with trickery. And the reason for that is because he knows full well Emma will see right through any hidden agenda; in addition to his real desire to change and become honorable again. I think Hook went for the exact reason he said – Emma’s family is in trouble. He needs her help to get them out of said trouble. As for HOW he did it, as Neal said, “lots of things” can open portals. We know magic beans, ruby slippers, the enchanted wardrobe and a sail made from Pegasus’ feathers can do it. Most of which are from EF. So there may be other things in the EF that can open a portal.
I’m thinking the “danger” has to do with everyone being re-trapped in SB. In the hospital scene, everyone besides Hook are in our world clothes. So, I’m wondering if once again, not everyone was brought back in the curse, and if so, I’m thinking Hook was one of those not brought back to SF by the curse. Otherwise, I’m guessing he would have FINALLY gotten a wardrobe change!!
Jenna_BParticipantI usually don’t invest much faith in TV Guide spoilers, unless it’s the same stuff every other site’s giving out. Matt Mitovich does usually seem to be on the ball with OUAT stuff, but you can tell this is a show he watches regularly so he usually understands the context better than someone who doesn’t really know what’s going on and is attempting to recap one episode.
I’m thinking though Rapunzel is in the episode, it’s not actually Rapunzel-centric. I’m thinking it’s either Charming-centric or it’s meant to start off an arc for Charming.
Jenna_BParticipantCE – Nice meta – thanks for posting! BTW, what’s your tumblr blog name thingy (See how technology savvy I am??)? @Hookian, Yeah, I saw that chat you referenced the other day and jumped in a bit. It got a little rough. I got a little overwhelmed with the “A&E said so-and-so” but afterward I realized, yeah, A&E probably did say that – but for every pro-SF thing they’ve said, they’ve said a pro-CS thing! Because the statement just causes whichever group to go nutty and all nuttiness over the show is good nuttiness if you’re the EPs!! It’s easier to just stay here. Sometimes I do check out the SF thread, because I do want to check out other points of view, but when it gets too anti-Hook I jump back out. Just like I’d invite any CFers to come read our thread and if it’s too anti-Neal for them, back out. I think overall, most of us here don’t actually dislike Neal, it’s just that we’d like to see the Neal/Emma storyline wrapped up and MRJ given a better storyline than just being a foil for CS.Jenna_BParticipantThat’s one of my favorite things about Hook with Emma – often he’s trying to hide behind his innuendo or acts playful to change the subject or tone of the conversation, but then he’ll totally let that guard down (Nasty Habits, Manhattan) and it’s intense.
Jenna_BParticipantEveryone, we’re forgetting again lol, what is your favourite CS moment in 3×04???
This one was hard, not one of my favorites so I didn’t keep it – only so much DVR space! – but my favorite is the scene in Neal’s cave when they find the coconut do-hickey. Before that, Emma and Hook have an exchange; Emma is realizing all the things she didn’t know about Neal and learning about the things Hook does know about Bae. Hook is seriously letting his guard down and Emma can see how much he cared about Bae. So much packed into about 30 seconds! What I really love about it though is at that moment, he’s actually not thinking about Emma, but about Bae and Milah and letting himself feel the losses, and you can see how much that simply amazes Emma.
