I think he’ll be ok. You can’t kill off HAPPY! That’s just wrong. If anything, I could see them recasting the role, the casual viewer may not take notice. But I bet the actor got a serious tongue lashing from A&E and a big ol’ list of what he can and cannot say in social media for a while and it was done.

Killian Jones + vocabulary porn

Oh, our Hook is so smart…or as we say in Massachusetts “wicked smaaaa-ht”…I love it!
So I’m doing a S2 rewatch…ok, so maybe I’ve only gotten through the Hook-centric ones…and I’ve noticed a few things that I guess you couldn’t really see until after S3a.
Manhattan:
1) Neal??? What is WRONG with you? You don’t see someone you say you loved for 11 years and you rip into her as soon as you see her?! Seriously?! 2) Go Emma! She’s not afraid to give anyone a verbal lashing if they deserve it but she just doesn’t hold back in that bar scene. Nor should she. Now, had I been her, I probably would’ve followed it up with a swift kick, but I don’t have Emma’s restraint!
The Epi when the girls end up in Dark One’s cell, forget the name…too lazy to go back and look!
Ok, and I really don’t think I’ve got my ‘shipper goggles’ on here…how does anyone say that Hook leaving Emma in the cell is some horrific and dastardly act? After leaving him with some giant that, based on the general opinion of the human population is pretty much a death sentence? Um, no. Hook completely explains himself, and makes it clear why exactly she’s landed in the mess she’s in. And frankly, I think by that time, Hook knew full well she’d figure out how to get herself out of the cell. At no time do I believe she OR Hook thought she was actually going to be left to die. That scene has actually become one of my favorites – one thing that few people have really done with Emma is forced her to look at her faults, especially at that time. Others sort of guide her around – ex: Snow’s “she’ll get there” in 3×5 (?) when Regina’s showing her magic – but no one really stands there, looks her in the eye, and points out how self-destructive she is like Hook does. While at the same time, knowing exactly when she needs something spelled out for her and when she needs support to figure it out for herself. And…we’re supposed to root for Neal? Buddy’s got some work to do if he’s even remotely interested in trying to win Emma back romantically…which I’m not sure he even really does.
And don’t even get me started with Milah!! Does that gal have even one redeeming quality??? Yikes. Although it does support my theory that Hook’s past actions are not solely revenge for losing her, but have more to do with Bae, and my theory that as CS moves forward, Hook realizes it may not have even been a real love like it is with Emma.
Ok, rants over! I should probably figure out where my son is and how much of the house he’s managed to destroy…Happy New Year all!!!
Jenna_BParticipantReviewed the list…they definitely picked a good group of guys but their numbers are SERIOUSLY off for some people *cough* Colin – and seriously of all the pics you can choose they pick THAT one? Geez.
Ugh I’ve caused such a controversy
Haha, CE, I’m sure you’ve said before, but where are you causing a controversy??? Oh, and I had the weirdest dream about gifsets last night – Yes, I’m blaming you…and Stelio!! 🙂
Jenna_BParticipantThis one’s awesome!
Jenna_BParticipantAlso dont know if this was discussed (there should be a thread for this): The ruby slippers have the power to send other people who aren’t wearing the shoes away. In Return to Oz, Dorothy gives the shoes to Ozma and Ozma sends Dorothy back home by clicking her heels. So its possible that Hook was sent back that way. But its a stretch. Unless the person wearing the shoes didn’t know Emma, I dont see why they’d send Hook of all people. I’m sorry guys… But I still think it’s possible he is working for the witch >>
I see where you’re coming from, but I’m thinking he’s not working for the witch. Why spend 11 episodes showing he’s trying to redeem himself and then have him do a 180? Neal seems the obvious path because at least she recognizes him…so I’m going with the theory that he can’t for some reason. But if Neal can’t go, Hook’s definitely on the short list. Emma’s shown that she trusts Hook and Hook has shown he’d pretty much do anything for Emma. Charming knows that and I’m pretty sure Snow finally realized it at the end of 3×11…
Jenna_BParticipantI’ve only joined twice so far and it was just because people were having the same argument I have about this whole ‘is the dream catcher in Neal’s apt; how does Neal still have an apt a year later?” Haha, it drives me nuts!!
@CaptainEala, I love that movie! Is it in this thread I saw all the parallels? I guess I’ll just have to add it to the list! Along with Oz Great and Powerful and The Wiz. I hate the Wizard of Oz, but love those two.So I’m doing a rewatch of S2 and just finished 2×05 & 2×06. Two things fascinated me; I’m sure they’ve been brought up before but going back and picking up all the stuff you didn’t really see is fun – in 2×05, when asked why Hook wants to go to Storybrooke, he says to exact revenge against the person who took my HAND. Not love, HAND. Again supports my theory that Hook’s revenge plot against Rumple started with Milah, but is mostly about Bae. And if 2×06, Tallahassee, is supposed to be the big Emma/Neal Why They’re True Love epi, why is the 2nd storyline all about Emma/Hook, and how SHE betrays HIM, not vice versa? If they’re TL, shouldn’t the B story have been flashbacks of another TL couple, Snowing? In Hook’s backstory, there’s very little Neal, and the B story is about Hook/Charming’s bromance?
Jenna_BParticipantOh, but in happier thoughts, to get us through the hiatus, a few of us were in chat the other night talking about movies and other stories A&E reference. It was pretty interesting comparing references one person has seen that others haven’t picked up on, and vice versa. I now have a little list of re-watching I need to get through before 3B…anything I’m missing??
* Princess Bride
* Star Wars Trilogy (the good original one, not that prequel junk)
* Beauty and the Beast
Jenna_BParticipantMust. Stop. Looking. At. Chat. Holy Hook Bashing.
It’s actually starting to aggravate me. Maybe I’ve got my shipper goggles on, but I think we’re pretty darn nice about Neal in our thread. We acknowledge he’s not the ship we follow but for the most part we don’t bash the hooey out of him. Most of us like the character. It’s pretty unfortunate if you have to hate one character in support of your ship.
Sorry, it’s just bugging me.
Jenna_BParticipantI realized, Emma gave up Henry so he can get his best shot. Hook did give up Bae to the lost boys for Bae’s safety.
THIS! I think Hook knew if Bae was completely on his own, it would’ve been a far worse situation than if Bae were captured by Pan. At least if he’s in Pan’s inner circle, he’s not being hunted by them while trying to figure out how to fend for himself. I’m betting a lot of Pan’s “dirty work” that Hook did was to keep Bae safe.
Jenna_BParticipantI really like the moment in the hold when they’re talking about Neal. The scene is pretty loaded and yet pretty simple. You learn a lot about Hook, Emma and Neal and the intertwining relationships in just a few seconds. And of course, Emma FINALLY starting letting her guard down!
