On the subject of the book, Bae was in the book which he showed Tamara in Selfless, Brave and True.
Damn, was he? There goes my theory out the window.
Me too then. Back to square 1… what do you have to do to get in that book. I thought someone’s post about august made sense but Bae squashes it
[adrotate group="5"]jenvenParticipant@epona_610. I agree. I think peasants had too tough of a life to have time to learn waltzes and such dances. I would think their dances would be more festive and less proper.
@jenna_b. Good point… A naval officer would be expected to be a gentleman and have such skills to interact in polite society. I think you are right with a son of a doctor but that would be a middle class. So hook would still be educated due to his station. I really hope they go into Killian’s background in s4. Sooo curiousjenvenParticipant@obisgirl – how did you manage to hold out so long? I was literally climbing the walls to see it and I only had a few hours to wait!!
Actually I have a question about the book. Is Capt Hook’s (and by association Peter Pan) story already in the book? ‘cos if it was then they were pretty stupid not to know that Pan was a villain and that Pan was Rumpel’s father. And on that, do the Charmings know Killian was a naval officer at one point in his life? Does what the audience see in flashback become known by the characters? I know he told Charming his brother was his Captain, but he could have been talking pirate captain. I only wonder b/c Emma seemed surprised that Killian could dance and I assumed he probably went to balls when he was in the royal navy, but she didn’t make that connection. So does she even know what he was before being a pirate?Maybe the book only revolves around their family and until there is a story in connection with them it does not appear. But you bring up a good point… which will actually negate my thought above : Neverland. Shouldnt they all be in the book then with the Henry rescue in NL.
IMO what we see is not always made known to the characters… but how come no one has notice that Hook/Killian is well educated and dressed? If they thought about the fact that he must be from a nobleman’s family then its not odd that he knows his way around a ball… but like you said – how come no bells aringing to anyone in our SB family?
jenvenParticipantjenvenParticipantI do find it quite convenient and ironic that cries of ‘plot’ and ‘OOC’ have increased since Neal’s death. I also find it funny. If you want a seamless show with perfect continuity and character development – you’re watching the wrong show (actually, if you find that show, let me know – I want to check it out). OUAT is about telling a fantastical tale incorporating our modern day world. It’s got an enormous cast and crazy storylines. Nothing in it suggests it’s going to be focused on tying up every little bit and spelling out every little thing. OUAT is a show that you enjoy because it completely takes you out of the real world – you sit back and enjoy the ride. If you start focusing on plotholes and inconsistencies and timelines, the only thing you’re going to achieve is a migraine. OUAT also purposely doesn’t waste valuable minutes spelling everything out. Doing that takes away part of the fun – the writers assume their fanbase is intelligent enough to put pieces together and enjoys allowing them to do that. If they told every little detail and spelled out every little thing, 1) Emma and Henry would still be on their way up to Maine from the pilot and 2) it’d take away the fun you can have with headcanons and what-ifs and theories and fanfics!!
here here
jenvenParticipantOk I’ll start Neal’s dead he gave up his life so Emma can find her happy ending with someone else.
meh… i dont see his death that way. he opened the hole in the ground for the DO to be resurrected and was supposed to pay with his life. Rumple saved him from paying his debt. I know its just my opinion – but I felt that it was just the end of the prolonged inevitable death that he was supposed to pay a year ago and also the relieved burden on Rumple who was sharing a body and space for a second mind.
I meant to put good actions get points and negative actions are subtractions. i didnt realized i missed that whole part. i guess i should really just do my job and check in during the day. hehe
jenvenParticipantWith all the other good stuff going on, this was a seriously underrated moment for CS.
😉 agreed
jenvenParticipant@POM you have a good point regarding the ‘Final Destination’ theory – but I think that Maid Marion was more of a disruption as it had already happened and Emma changed events by saving her from death… thereby making MM exist in a world where she shouldnt.
Neal’s timeline was just his life…a collection of path choices made leading to the history of Neal. If Rumple had not taken the memory potion after Emma spilled the beans about the future and Neal was alive when she returned – then IMO it would be a similar disruption to Maid Marian and the potential for death to keep stalking Neal for a course correction may happen
jenvenParticipantHey, you guys should try using OOC and PLOT randomly in sentences today, it’s fun!
lol – we should. they seem to just throw out any word they want regardless of the meaning or if it is even factual to the point at hand. so sure… lets.
I have to say all their negativity against Hook makes me WANT to pick on / attack St Neal. and I never disliked Neal. I like Bae and Neal was fine… but the negative / vocal fraction of the SF population makes me want to give as good as we get – because we’ll never be able to make them see the light
jenvenParticipantNow I think it makes sense when that report came out that the Jolly Roger was being dismantled. It’s because we don’t need to see it anymore and Killian’s done with that part of his life.
awwwhh…its so permanent. I had hoped he would get it back in later seasons. I guess they wont have him find it in the future. So how do they find the urn on the JR like the one Elsa just broke out of.
Killian will need something, row boat, kayak, canoe… he cant keep ‘borrowing’ boats
