JenniferParticipant
I have another question… no CS. As I said I have not been around really since end of S3… and I needed to start from the first page of the forums here. What thread is top on the list as recent posts… Swan Fire. And 1,900+ pages! Huh? Correct me if I am wrong… but isnt their ship DEAD? Literally?
[adrotate group="5"]JenniferParticipantSo yeah, there’s a lot I can put up with in regards to plot holes, major continuity issues, dropped story lines and characters, etc., but not destroying Snow’s, Henry’s, and Robin’s characters COMPLETELY, and Emma’s to some extent, to the point that they’re nearly unrecognizable. I
I have to agree with you… I have been disappointed and feel like i did in Season 2… DVR and fast forwarding my way through. I feel as if so many of the characters are out of character… i’m sure we could create a pretty big list… but the thing that bugs me the most ( and I do like Regina – Evil and trying to redeem herself ) is that the Charming and Emma are not only willing for forgive her but are practically begging for her to be their friend.
Come on… I am totally on board with Regina’s redemption and that she gets a Happy Ending once she fully redeems herself. I can understand the Charming forgiving her because that’s what those Hero types do… but to want to be friends? with the woman who literally ruined your life, separated you and your husband, your child, ruined your child’s life, murdered your family and friends
And Robin… Jack A** … i get that you love the woman that she has become, but how do you forget that she is the reason you – emphasis on the WERE – a widower and a single dad to your motherless son. Because REGINA MURDERED her. how do you forget that. How do you try to find the author of this book to strong arm a Happy Ending while your WIFE is trapped in a curse. Maybe you and Will should be hunting for a answer to that problem instead. and what a whiner…
Killian has it right. Did he give up his vengeance – check. allowed the crocodile on the JR – check. Hasnt attempted to kill him – sort of check. ( will not included the car with the ‘tainted’ hand since Rumple was messing with Killian’s Mind there. Are they buddy buddy going to the Rabbit Hole for some pints of ale – Big Fat Negative there.
Daddy Charming bugged me too… Snow must be the worse mom going but you kind of expect it the way they write her… but Charming is 100% in Emma’s corner and now he thinks she needs to get rid of her magic to be ‘normal.’ what ????
And Emma… she is the poster child for cool, calm and controlled… she is super controlled… anything threatens she shuts down, tightens up and runs. Now this season she freaks over everything? cant control magic that she previously had to struggle to even summon before and now its the first reaction. she is most ocd/anal about letting her emotions show and now they are sparking all over town. and she wants to be BFF with Regina? the list of ??? is just too big here.
I just feel like Season 4 was re written at the last minute to fit in Frozen and they are making everyone change just to fit the story line.
sorry for the long, rambling post. I never have time to pop in anymore and the season’s disappointment kind of popped out. OHHHHH and how many commercials did that 2 HR night have? was that really and hour that they dragged into 2? good grief… that was seriously 45% commercials.
JenniferParticipant@ Epona_610 I do not dislike any of the characters… including Regina and I liked seeing her on the road to redemption and that it appeared that her changing was genuine. WAS… she has definitely fallen off the wagon. Because Regina is fiction all that is ok. If this was real life I too would find this friendship to ridiculously unbelievable and would think Emma should see a therapist.
You have a totally valid point that many SQ must be crazy to ignore and hope for romance? What the heck? And while I understand that the show does have a medieval times type of setting when life was different and the sword settled as many disputes and the local lord / King… but the show does gloss over too much. Even if the characters just accepted that this is the harsh times in which they live…and allowed for a certain amount of play in a person’s own ability to take the law into their own hands… how do they forgive and especially forget?
I agree with Jenna B that they share a son and so Emma and Regina need to have some type of civil relationship… but how in the world can Emma actually put so much effort into befriending Regina and just stands there listening to Regina’s rant about how Emma ruined her life? IMO there are just too many horrible things that Regina did to allow for an actually friendship. Can Regina change, I think so, but she served no time, received no justice for any of her crimes… how can anyone forgive her and move on… especially the Charmings.
The thing that bugged me the most about that scene by the steps listening to Emma say how she is looking for a friend and who better than Regina : everyone else had to do the chasing, convincing, proving in their Emma relationship. Killian literally changed everything about himself except his hair color to get a friendly Emma. I mean come on… Emma made her own parents run the emotional gauntlet to get over her walls but here. It just irks me a bit considering the others have never willing hurt Emma, where as Regina has literally lied, stolen, cheated, murdered etc…
And yes… Epona_610 you are so right in regards to Henry… I guess Storybrook does not have a magical equivalent to DYFS. I too was so disgusted by Henry’s Operation Mongoose. If he can forgive Regina how can he does this to his Grandfather – who did sacrifice himself to save Henry ( not that I am a fan of the IMP’s moral backward slide ). It just seems that under Regina’s parentage Henry is giving into his genetics and Regina is counteracting the Charming side of the family.
sorry so long… but I too just cant understand Emma wanting Regina as a BFF. There is just too much water under that bridge
JenniferParticipantSpeaking of the Sheriffs department : Killian is always working with Emma and Charming and seems to be of worth and not just tagging along as an observer. Maybe its time they hire him. They obviously need another person with all the magical nonsense that happens in that town. And then at least he makes some money instead of his criminal justice internship at the SBPD.
Sorry – I cant seem to find the entry I was looking for to quote. Regarding his hand… I think A&E were trying for the double bluff but there was a good point raised. Killian is a righty. He uses the hook but the muscle memory wouldnt be a punch… it would be an arc. so it is really strange that he would so quickly jump to making his left the dominate hand.
Now Rumples explanation about the thought of the hand being ‘tainted’ from his old life and how that gave Killian permission / an excuse to channel is inner Hook makes a little sense in theory. But not so immediate and with such force. Killian has worked so hard to be different and the things he does has been genuine. If those good deeds / actions are indeed genuine then his first impluse wouldnt be to unleash a left handed Hook in such a level of over reaction. It also doesnt make sense since the hand that was lopped off was that of a troubled greedy pirate but not the hate filled, revenge driven, at the bottom of his rum bottle totally cold hearted Captain Hook.
To support the actions we saw play out i think A&E should have confirmed the hand was magicked.
JenniferParticipantOk. As much I’ve loved CS date, and the episode overall, there are some things that I did not like. 1. Killian questioning Emmas suspicions regardibg the puddle under her car. OOC for me. He could have just asked to drop it without asking what it proves. 2. Rumple- I’ve thought he was just a little bit reformed. A tinny, tinny bit. 3. The whole blackmailing making and deal- I ‘ve thught Killian is smarter than that. My fear is that he won’t come clean with Emma in 2-3 episodes and it will be dragged alt lis till the end of 4a . Colin has not been seen on set with Jen recently. And that big scene had been filmed without him I’ve thought that Once was better than that. I don’t know. My husband is annoyed. He’ s not as big fan as I am, but Hook is his favorite character.
Agreed Lady… its odd that Killian didnt instantly jump at the puddle statement. He is not dense so an out of place puddle that just appeared should rightly ring alarms. I read somewhere that he might just be so worried about getting off topic and making their date a work dinner. So I can accept that theory.
But yes – Hook should have really known better about trying to blackmail Rumple twice… and if he was that desperate and determined he needed to go in with a better plan and more on guard. Because he KNOWs Rumple / DO’s history as a Major Mind Manipulator.
I’m afraid he is going to hold this close to the vest too… try and fix it himself… which will bite him in the a**. I really hope he goes to Charming at least and comes clean and they can try to work it out. Someone has suggested Killian go as a spy… i like that idea. As long as the Sheriffs department is on board.
Your husband has some good taste! lol
JenniferParticipantI also LOVED how it was Emma who closed the distance between them in the sheriffs office, by being the one to step into Killian’s personal space, that to me was probably the most understated show of character development I’ve seen for her yet. I mean, that was a huge step for Emma, to be the one instigating that closeness/lack of distance between them for a second time (1st being when she closed the distance between them outside Snowing’s ), but this time in public- in full view of Will, Elsa & Charming- That wall she built to keep people out, Killian is now totally inside it now
Yes… its so cute how she closes the space looking up at him sweetly… which come on who has used that word to describe Emma? lol. That’s why I think the pink girlie dress was perfect for this Emma. And while I cannot say one think bad on how Emma worked the Walsh proposal dress I think the CS 1st date was perfect for her first date with Killian
JenniferParticipantI loved the date, but I thought the Hook/Rumple interactions were perfect. I love how the two play off of each other. And Rumple’s mindgames were great. I love our pirate but he should know better than play like he did with Rumple. Rumple is the King of Mind Games, he’s going to win. Especially when backed into a corner, and especially when it comes to Belle.
yes you are so right. Killian is so desperate that he is showing his hand and opening himself up to being totally manipulated.
Killian knows Rumple better than any other character on the show… he was obsessed for centuries and combine that with his serious knack for survival I would have expected him to be a little more wary and approached the confrontation with more respect for his adversary skills. obviously not showing that to Rumple but Killian definitely needed a better plan.
Yes – loved the scenes with the 2 of them and i liked that it showed that they did not really forgive and forgot their history. Just seemed more realistic. I found it plausible that Hook gave up revenge for Emma but not that he totally forgot about his history with Rumple.
JenniferParticipantI think my favorite part of the episode, though, was – to my surprise – Snow. She seems to finally be successfully marrying Mary Margaret-the friend with Snow White-the mom when it comes to Emma. She was such the excited Mommy before her daughter’s first date and so the excited friend who wanted all the details when Emma got home – and most importantly, she seems to actually be listening to Emma, and seeing for herself how good Killian and Emma are for each other, and showing enthusiastic support. Emma cannot be backed into a corner, and Snow finally seems to be understanding that – and supporting rather than projecting, which is of utmost importance if she’s going to have any kind of relationship with Emma. David’s ‘dad’ routine is precious, and I love how Killian just gave him an indulgent smile, letting David have his Daddy moments when he picked Emma up.
Yes – I love the Polaroid camera! and David thinking he might have been too hard on him. lol. David was a push over. I’m sure there are worse Daddy / Date stories.
JenniferParticipantNo my good sir… Thank you!
Huge Grin. Love it
JenniferParticipantRumple is such a — jerk is being too polite. Hook blackmailed Rumple but what he’s doing now to Hook is far worse. Rumple is basically playing mind games with Hook and seriously, that is messed up.
I guess I dont mind the Blackmailing… Rumple CUT OFF Killian’s hand for taking up with Milah – who LEFT Rumple. Killian didnt steal her. She was just counting her lucky stars that she found a hot pirate to leave with… but she was leaving by any means or man necessary make no mistake about it. Whether she was right or wrong, that was on her.
The looks on poor Killian’s face through the whole episode was so sad.
There really isn’t anything about Rumple’s character at this point that I feel sorry for. I mean, how many times is going to swap the knife before he gets caught?
I liked Rumple and as one person called him ‘IMP’ Rumple… but I thought that he was overcoming the dagger / DO’s power to be a better man. But 4A so far is proving that he doesnt have the strength, fortitude or desire to really do that. He is all talk and no action when it comes to being a better man for Belle and Bae’s memory.
If he loses Belle, then so be it. Seriously. Belle deserves much better than Rumple, who seems to love power more than her. That is not the kind of man she deserves.
Belle deserves what she gets. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me for the 500th time shame on me. Not sure how big the speck of good inside of him is but she must have some giant magnifying glass at the library to see it. A&E have Belle as Rumple’s Trophy Wife and for a character that is supposed to be so smart they make her so ignorant. I cant feel bad for her or Rumple anymore.
I do feel bad for our Poor Pirate… the man is digging himself a deep hole. I so hope he goes to Charming for help to work this out. I fear he is going to be living a double life and it will eat at him and hurt Captain Swan when Emma finds out.
I too loved how Emma put Killian 1st on their date, it was a lovely role reversal for them
Yes. Loved how she ticked off her list of why she can sit and enjoy herself and their date. Old Emma would have hauled ass with just a ‘got to go.’
