There is no reason at all to assume that Leo loved Cora more than Eva. He did love Cora (though I don’t feel like she truly loved him back–her lying to his face kind of suggested that, and after he realized he could not trust her, he lost what affection he’d had for her).

Leo fell for Cora before he met Eva, and he was already a bit flustered about marrying a woman he’d never met. Cora, he’d met, and thought he knew. Eva was an unknown that he felt forced into marrying.

Cora manipulated him slightly to get him to agree to marry her instead, and pushed for a quick wedding so she could pass Zelena off as Leo’s baby.

Eva’s actions were not kind, but I think Snow was a bit harsh on her mother–she was protecting her own interests as well as Leo’s and his kingdom’s by calling Cora out. She didn’t trick Cora–Jonathan did that. Now, when Eva tripped Cora at Henry’s ball…well, that was spiteful and downright bratty. And it’s evidently something that she did grow out of.

The results of Eva’s choice to tell on Cora are…well, most of the story so far. But she couldn’t have known that. What she knew was that Cora was lying to the man she’d been betrothed to about a pretty major thing. And it’s possible that the truth might have gotten out anyway; Jonathan knew, and wasn’t exactly the most stellar dude either.

There is nothing in this sequence of events that contradicts the idea that Leo & Eva were very much in love (or even True Loves). Leo just needed a chance to get to know Eva first–which he didn’t have until after he met and fell for Cora.

Timeline wise though, this does make me think Leo’s a little older than I estimated…

I am almost buying the JR theory. It makes way more sense than having Philora kill anyone (and besides, neither of them have demonstrated magical abilities). The latter issue though makes Hook casting the curse equally problematic.

What if it was Glinda though? I dislike that idea for many reasons, but she’s a powerful sorceress…and maybe she thought that sending everyone back would keep them safe?

I’m also trying to figure out if Zelena could have made Rumple cast it somehow using Bae’s heart which is inside him but…that doesn’t make much sense.

I’d like to just claim all Belle’s cloaks, present and future. They’re all brilliant.

Wonder if Hook will ever confess to Snow that Regina asked him to assassinate Cora once?

Cuz that also happened. Regina’s acceptance of Snow’s apology on the grounds that Cora killed Eva was necessary to the structure of this ep…but hey, that also happened. And only a week or so before Cora died, Regina was trying to kill her again to stop her coming to Storybrooke…so…

Well, Zelena was conceived at least 20 years before Leo proposed to Regina. Simple math dictates that. A lot happened in the intervening years. Leo did not see Regina as being like her mother–she’d just saved a child from death not knowing who it was she saved.

And even after Regina lost Daniel and turned to magic for help, Rumple said she didn’t seem like her mother.

Leo also had fairly good reason to believe that Regina was Henry’s daughter as much as Cora’s. (Fairy. With apparently lots of caveats.) Cheating on a spouse in general is bad, but cheating on a royal spouse can get you beheaded if you’re found out. And anyway, Cora dumped her heart with Rumple, so…she may not have done anything to arouse suspicion regarding Regina.

Other favorite thing: Belle interrupting someone else’s “date” for once. (And of course when she does, it’s to HELP, not to beg for help, or, I dunno, shoot one of them in the back…)

Belle calling the queen out FINALLY for abusing her for 30-odd years. And Regina actually apologizing. That was amazing.

Belle finding out what Zelena’s planning. Go bookworm!

Added depth to the Cora-Eva feud. It makes the Leo marriage squicky as heck, but it already kinda was. And yay for not completely undoing Cora’s character to give her backstory–she’s still an ambitious jerk even when she’s being yanked around.

And the bit that made me giggle…Emma teasing Hook with her magic and actually enjoying it a bit.

    Stuff I didn’t like:

    Rumple still in a cage.
Rumple not getting hugs from Belle.
Rumple kissing Zelena in desperation to get the dagger.
Rumple threatening Roland. I TOLD YOU OQ WAS GONNA GET THE KID IN TROUBLE.
(And poor Rumple didn’t want to…but he would, because dagger. I do wonder if Zelena told him exactly how to get the heart or just told him to get it and he knew that would work cuz he manipulates people…either way he didn’t have a choice, but…poor Rumple.)

Oh, and added weird factor: Snow said Whale checked her out…yeah, they were cursed :p

I don’t think Cora loved Leo. I think she saw him as her chance, just as she had with Jonathan (though with Jonathan she was a bit more naive–she still wasn’t seriously interested in him until he lied about being a prince).

I think Leo was falling for Cora, but we know he did truly love Eva after he got to know her…and Eva won his trust by, let’s face it, being honest about Cora while Cora was lying to his face. Eva was a bit of a jerk about it, but she was telling the truth.

Leo would have known that Regina was NOT the same baby because it would have been at least another 16 months before Regina was even born–and rather publicly presented to Xavier’s kingdom as Henry’s child. (Now, there may have been rumors that Henry wasn’t actually the father…and Leo would have reason to believe those rumors…but we have no reason to think that Henry wasn’t–we know Rumple wasn’t, and Henry was very loyal to Cora.)

Why did Xavier & Henry accept Cora as a bride when Eva (whom we know to have been friends) or Leo could have told them of Cora’s past? Well, Xavier didn’t care one bit for anything but power & gold. Cora brought those to him, and he even knew she’d been messing around with Rumple on the side and didn’t care one bit. So in Xavier (poor Henry never really had a say, though he liked her) wouldn’t have minded if they HAD told him. Didn’t matter, especially with the baby not actually present.

Regardless, when Leo chose to marry Regina (under serious manipulation by Cora, who killed Eva and spooked Snow’s horse), he was a) grieving for Eva’s death and b) pleased to find a woman who cared about his daughter as much as he did. And yeah, Regina loves kids. Creepily and to their detriment a lot of the time, but had Daniel not been in the equation, Regina might quite happily have been Snow’s mother.

Also, remember that when he was dying, Cora didn’t dare use the dagger even though she could have. She said it would kill him faster–probably from the energy he’d use resisting her, or possibly some other way?

He’s been resisting as much as he can, but he doesn’t have a choice. The dagger compels him.
