ParticipantOh, I was just looking at it from Ana’s perspective. And of course she doesn’t know how manipulated she was at that point, either…

ParticipantWell, some things to think about: If Cora gave up Zelena before she met Henry & Rumple, she still had her heart at the time.
And it will be interesting to see whether that affected her decision with Rumple somehow.

ParticipantI was looking back at the scene with Ana’s mother to see if they dropped a name for her (haven’t found one) and the parallels between her and Cora are sooooooooo strong. Ana found someone just like her mother but who APPROVED of her in WL. (Of course her mother would have been pleased with the marriage to a king, too…)

ParticipantWe’ve only seen a few moments of Zelena so far and we have many weeks of Oz stuff ahead of us…so we’ve got plenty to look forward to. They even made me feel for Cora in the end.

ParticipantIf Zelena is young enough to be Regina’s sister, she’s not old enough to have been a midwife for Cora…

ParticipantBleh, I had it backwards. South is Quadling (Red), north is Gillikin (Purple). That’s what I get for going from memory.
Anyway, I’m posting a map just for fun.

ParticipantCharming has never been called king. He’s always prince. And while we tend to think that the head rulers have to be called king and queen in a kingdom, that’s not universally true historically (even within europe and accounting for linguistic differences). Lots of places were ruled over by people referred to as princes (or the linguistic equivalent). And Machiavelli’s “The Prince” refers to rulers in general, not a subclass.
Slightly relevant to this season, Ozma, rightful ruler of Oz, was always a princess in the books (even though her father had been a king).
Other interesting thing: David never felt that he was rightfully George’s son, and he married the rightful inheritor of Leopold’s kingdom. It’s possible that Snow could take on the title “Queen” and keep him as only Prince Consort, as at least a couple queens of England’s husbands have been called. Also, Snow might not use that title as there already IS a Queen–Regina–and for personal reasons she might not want to share the term.
Regardless, the characters consistently call David “Prince” long after he and Snow take back the kingdoms, especially those (like the dwarves) who acknowledge him as their (co)ruler. Thus that is his title.

ParticipantI’ve no doubt that there was a very high price to be paid for bringing Rumple back. Zelena may not yet know just what she’s gotten into–even aside from Rumple’s own proclivities toward killing people who threaten him or his family. And depending on the current state of his ability to read the future, Rumple may know more than she does about what will come of it.

ParticipantWhy assume that?
Interesting evidence to consider, though: We saw Grumpy decide against pursuing Nova in “Dreamy,” but when he’s first talking to Snow, he mentions he’s in George’s cell for buying a stolen diamond for the girl he loves.
So THAT might be relevant timeline wise.
I wanted to give the Yaoguai adventure a fair amount of time, but the time she’s actually with Mulan is not really that long. So most of the time would be travel time–yet in the time she’s with Mulan, the guys she ticked off manage to get to Regina and Regina manages to find her in the woods. So I don’t think it’s more than about a week total.

ParticipantWonderland’s brought up the possibility of breaking the laws of magic. Since new Storybrooke is so like Storybrooke when they left it, I’m wondering if it’s a new curse or if Zelena somehow found a way to change the laws of magic. She also has Rumple, who was meant to be dead…so maybe she also changed the past. Somehow made it so that they never broke the curse.
I also suspect that she somehow made Regina recast the curse. Tricky bit there is, Henry isn’t dead and nor is Robin Hood, and Robin’s too happy in the woods for Roland(!) to be a goner. So I’m not sure how that might have worked. It is, however, possible that she made someone else cast it. (eek, no no no no NO …I’m not even going to state the possibility if she used Rumple)
