Secondary likelihood, as it came up in chat:
Disney made a sequel movie in the 1980s that was dead creepy called Return to Oz. It combined characters and themes from the second two books Baum wrote, The Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz, though it changed quite a lot.
Some characters that were in Return to Oz that, because of heightened awareness due to the movie’s existence, we might see:
The Nome King (Roquat the Red), who has a magic belt and turns people into ornaments. Nomes are rock-based creatures.
Billina, a chicken belonging originally to Dorothy’s family farm
Tik-Tok, a wind up robot (thinking/acting machine)
Jack Pumpkinhead, a creature that in the books was built by Ozma and brought to life by Mombi’s powder of life
The Gump, similarly brought to life by the powder
The Wheelers, creatures with wheels for hands and feet.
Mombi, a witch who in the books was given infant Ozma when the Wizard came to Oz and turned her into a boy named Tip. In the movie, she is combined with the vain Princess Langwidere who switches out heads when she’s bored with her present appearance and threatens to take Dorothy’s head too (the princess was a relative of the royal family of Ev–looking up her name as it’s escaped me). In the movie, Ozma is trapped in a mirror.
And lastly, Princess Ozma, rightful ruler of Oz, who, like Dorothy, appears in all the books except one. (Dorothy is absent from The Land of Oz, and Ozma of course is missing from the Wonderful Wizard.)The art in the original Baum books is amazing but he switched artists after the first book; Dorothy’s dark braids became a blonde bob cut in later books and there’s even a picture of her meeting a statue of herself as she was illustrated in the Wonderful Wizard in one of the later books.
Ozma is always portrayed as a dark-haired fairy, perhaps slightly older than Dorothy but not much. Return to Oz portrayed Ozma as blonde and Dorothy as a brunette, probably to keep with the popular version from the 1939 movie.
I’ll be interested to see how either of the girls is portrayed, if they are, in Once.
But since a) Disney was involved in the sequel, though it wasn’t very popular–partly because it was so creepy, and b) the movie introduced these characters to a wider audience than those who actually had read the books, I think there’s a greater likelihood we’ll see these characters than any others from later books.

Ozma, if she’s handled well, would just make my day.
Annnnnd the pink glass kitten would be just fun to see.
I expect that they’ll stick mostly to characters that are familiar to a broader audience, though, so I’m not expecting a whole lot from any of the later books–I expect we’ll mostly see those from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

As to the book…more Oz lore. Glinda has a book that records EVERYTHING that happens that she consults to know what’s going on.

I don’t see how Zelena could be Rumple’s mother when Rumple’s been around for at least a couple hundred years and Cora is Zelena’s mother; there is no reason to believe that Cora had magic before meeting Rumple in her 20s or 30s, so no reason to believe that she could’ve had a child that long ago.

Hm. I’m going back to the Oz books and wondering how it might relate to Oz history. In the books, the Wizard replaces the king and the king’s daughter, Princess Ozma, is sent to a witch–Mombi–as an infant. Mombi turns the baby into a boy and raises him until after Dorothy’s first visit, when the Wizard leaves and the Scarecrow rules Oz for a time. Tip, Ozma’s male identity, eventually reclaims his throne and learns his history from Glinda, the good witch of the south. Later, Ozma meets Dorothy and becomes her best friend…but not till the next book. The second book of the series, which tells this tale, is the only one where Dorothy doesn’t appear in the series.
But I’m wondering how baby Ozma might be connected to Snow’s baby now.

It’s possible that in being brought back from the “death” with his father, Rumple lost something important and believes that means he can’t be with Belle anymore. Like if the process cost him his heart, or something. He would never want to hurt Belle, and if he felt that whatever it cost to bring him back would hurt her, he might despair.

Since they’ve been emphasizing blood magic this season, I expect Rumple’s trapped in the cage at least in part by blood magic–only Regina could release him then.
And the way he waved his hands over the food when he was chanting made me think it was like a spell (but no sparkly bits, so no magic…). Is it next week yet?

I’m still a bit behind on the Once timeline, and really far behind on the Wonderland one–and it’s not entirely clear where they intersect. But yes, the pregnancies alone demand a certain length of time between some of the events. We’re assuming that Ana -is- Ella’s stepsister (but it’s a good assumption from everything they’ve given us so far, so I’ll go with it). They’ve also been way more vague with the Wonderland timeline than the Once one (though we’ve got a lot more eps to work with in Once now, to be fair). The only real touch points we have is that Alice lost Cyrus a year before the “now” events start and, now, that Cyrus became a genie over a hundred years ago…
The latter fact of which combined with Amara means SOMETHING interesting happened timewise to have Amara appear the same age for Jafar; someone’s using magic to stay young (my money’s on Amara, but who knows what Jafar might be doing).
