I’m wondering if his lack of belief that she’ll continue loving him is the answer to why his curse isn’t broken yet. I think for a shining moment in FTL in Skin Deep, he let himself really believe–to the point that he was willing to sacrifice for her happiness (he let her go) and vice versa (she came back). He’s been too afraid to believe it could last since then, too guarded to give in to True Love.

I loved it but it was SO SO SO sad. Snowing’s sad because Emma’s sad because Neal (oh and Charming’s sad because Snow will be sad if he dies which he’s gonna), and Henry’s losing hope, and Neal’s sad because Rumple and Rumple’s sad because Neal and when he told BelleVision to go away cuz he was sad….I almost lost it as much as when Neal couldn’t trust him (that scene did make me start crying).

Too many sads. So many feels. Love that Pan’s the piper, love the stars, love all of them and want to give them all hugs until they aren’t sad.

Since they’re in Neverland it could be days or decades that Hook and Neal were together….and maybe you don’t feel the time pass the same way, so even they weren’t aware of how long it really was.

    Okay: Rumple’s speech to Regina.

Regina: I’m not sure I want a future that looks like you.

Rumple: (some other stuff) The darkness has tasted you, and it likes how you taste.

Would she have bought this before taking the apprentice’s heart? Before that moment, I don’t think we’ve seen Regina actually kill. Her heart wasn’t dark even when she threw her mother through the mirror.

Oh, and Rumple indicates at that point that she doesn’t really have a choice in her magic studies; while he was pulling strings all over in the Doctor, he was still giving her the illusion of a choice in the matter. And cuts her off when she’s not willing to go all the way with what he really wants–someone capable of casting the Curse, which requires heart pulling.

I did tweet Adam about it, but chances are we won’t get an official answer that way–though we could win the twitter lottery!

I’m still not convinced that 303 Regina is more innocent than 205 Regina…

I so was, Phee :p I was absolutely dancing.

And while the costumes are a major data point…they’re not infallible. Besides, she doesn’t switch to all black (in my mind) until Leopold dies. Then there’s that exchange with (was it the mirror?) where she says she simply finds that black suits her.

And even then she wears plenty of dark jewel tones.

But I will say that of all her awesome and fabulous dresses, 303’s is the prettiest by far.

Regina had to let go of Daniel before she could really love again. She still had his preserved corpse hanging around a good 40 years after he died, and she still was barely willing to say goodbye when he begged her to in The Doctor–though she had let go of her last bit of him besides his body when she sacrificed his ring to get the poisoned apple.

I think the “right time” thing might be very relevant to why Tink’s behavior was so wrong.

In We Are Both, Cora tells Regina that she’ll be married in two days at the start of the episode (the vines bit).

After she fantasizes about killing Snow, her father says the wedding is “tomorrow.”

She summons Rumple that night, and he gives her the mirror. The next morning, she pushes Cora into Wonderland (while wearing her wedding dress) and I think they were still preparing for the wedding at that point.

The next scene shows her in riding clothes meeting up with Rumple, telling him that leaving was always her plan. Why she’d marry the king at that point is still beyond my understanding, though clearly Rumple’s talk and magic’s temptation for her are part of it, as well as her mother’s advice just before the mirror bit–to build up power, to get her own set of guards and so on…which she clearly did do, eventually (and learned their names, which impresses me).

I have Regina marrying Leopold right after this. If you want to look at my spreadsheet & notes for this…it’s lines 139-146 in the current version of the timeline worksheet.

Spreadsheet has some analysis of when we’ve seen people locked up, for whatever reasons. Henry’s family tree is full of scoundrels of varying levels. Even Snow was a thief. It’s not just on his “dark” side.

I was kind of bothered by that, too, but Tink’s clearly not the most moral of fairies (nor should she be). And we’ve already seen both David and Snow commit adultery (under awkward circumstances) and TL break up potential marriages as well as cursed ones. (And when the heck did Aurora and Phillip decide they were married anyway? Or did they?)

But this is a show that explores a lot of moral ambiguities. Half the fans are rooting for Regina, a woman who cursed an entire world to be miserable to get revenge on a child, who killed entire villages, orphaned children and sent them into the house of a cannibal, and both raped and killed a man because he didn’t kill someone for her…while the other half (with significant overlap rooting for BOTH!) is rooting for Rumplestiltskin, who killed his own wife, got someone else to arrange the death of the woman he almost married next, killed his mute maid for almost no reason and likewise other innocents, and twisted and manipulated any number of people to get his own way, and, oh yeah, was -this- close to killing his own grandson.

And anyone who doesn’t like them is almost certainly rooting for Hook, who shot an innocent woman who had just saved his life, actually killed a couple of guards once (he’s tried to kill a lot more people than he’s managed to kill…), has teamed up with every baddie including very briefly (for once for a good cause) Rumple, whose wife he did steal making him an accomplice in adultery (without taking any of the responsibility from Milah when I state this, as she did make her own choices there), and while he’s been doing a good job of redeeming himself in Neverland so far…we know his alliances have always shifted with the wind.

And these are the bad guys. The good guys have all done jail time…among other things.
