ParticipantI think 303 explained Regina’s psychology better than any episode so far…and made the evil queen so very very human. And you’re right, she didn’t intend to hurt Owen (or Henry for that matter), and initially she even saved Snow’s life. But she DID hurt all of them. So if she hooks up with RH, I’m very worried for Roland. Regina might be a loving mother, but she’s not a good one.

ParticipantI’m still not persuaded by Regal Hood’s potential, though they cleared the way for it at any rate.
But here’s what really, really bothers me about it:
We’ve seen what Regina did to kids before Henry–Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, and Owen. Particularly Owen bothers me in this case. Because Roland.
And Roland is, at least in a spiritual sense, Belle’s godson. She saved his parents’ lives so he could be born. (Also, Rumbelle feels–so Bae could get back to his father and son…which is the redeeming bit of yet another ep without any Belle.) I don’t want Regina to ruin Roland’s life 🙁

ParticipantMy theory is that Mulan did love Phillip, but after spending all that time trying to rescue Aurora and then spending time with her, she saw what Phillip saw in her and fell for her, too. Maybe more than Phillip.
And even if she loves BOTH of them it doesn’t matter, because they’re Truly in Love with each other and making a family.
But when the heck did they have enough time for Aurora to even realize she’s pregnant? *scans timeline* I mean…srsly.

ParticipantI’m dying laughing now. I actually have a chart on (yes) the spreadsheet chronicling their dates and psuedo-dates. Total of three so far where SOMETHING didn’t interrupt them.

ParticipantThe timeline now includes data from 302: Lost Girl. I’ll be putting Wonderland in a separate timeline, but I’ll post markers in both timelines where there’s an obvious intersection.
Oh, and if you check out my signature I’ve got my massive spreadsheet shared now. That includes my raw scene-by-scene timeline and a whole host of other analysis I’ve done; feel free to explore it, but don’t worry if some of it only makes sense to me.
And, as always, please feel free to give me feedback on/debate/correct anything on either version.

ParticipantI did up a chart once, annoyed at people ignoring the things Hook’s done to Emma and emphasizing Neal’s sins, and somehow it didn’t seem complete without some of Emma’s other ships on there…
Doing my best to keep things even, Graham hurt her the least and did the most for her. Spreadsheet wise, Gremma won. (Though even he locked her up in jail…like Hook…and Neal…and Regina for that matter.)
Things are def going to change this season, but yeah, this tweet gave me SUCH Gremma feels. I’m glad he’s not really forgotten.

ParticipantOkay, we all knew Tamara was screwed…she cheated on/messed with the Dark One’s son and then shot him and tossed him through a portal. Rumple believes she killed him. I went to add the death/killing to my spreadsheet (oh yeah, you know I have one) and had to put “maybe” on the justified column…from his perspective, a guy who killed someone just for causing Bae to scrape his knees, it was more than justified. From ours, well, she was a jerk who did one single redeeming thing–telling Henry, the kid she kidnapped and delivered to Pan, to run. She killed the Dragon and tried darn hard to kill August and Neal. She’s Not Nice, she uses people, and her ignorance was by choice, as Henry pointed out; her plea for forgiveness was too little too late, though I think Rumple did have a flash of sympathy before he crushed her heart. Only for the fact that she was under Pan’s influence, of course, but it was there when he said he understood.
I do think that Rumple’s whole speech to Emma–and note that it WAS directed at Emma specifically–might have been his playing her as only Rumple can, giving her what she needed, inspiration and knowledge, to rescue Henry if he can’t (or maybe that’s his whole plan from the start). But while he’s generally better at controlling his emotions than, say, Regina, his responses are that much stronger when they come out, and anything to do with Bae or Belle can make him unpredictable even to himself.

ParticipantThat whole episode was amazing. Yes, there are some threads that we desperately need to see connected, but by Manhattan it was pretty clear that even if Rumple and Bae hadn’t seen each other since their parting at the portal, they’d had some knowledge of one another’s doings in the interim. And we have to find out how MAP got back together. And…well, many many things to look forward to in the coming months!
I teared up when Henry took his leap of faith (but was simultaneously applauding Emma’s same). And Rumple telling Emma off…well, he’s played her like a violin before, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was simply giving her what she needed to get Henry–as a backup should his plan go awry.
I’m slamming my head trying not to ship Mufire but OMG their scenes together. Poor Mulan…all her potential ships love other people 🙁 (And I’m not giving up on Swanfire, no matter how awesome Hook is.)
The only thing I hated about the episode was the lack of Belle. Come on, A&E, it’s bad enough you left her behind. You promised she wouldn’t be forgotten.

September 27, 2013 at 11:18 am in reply to: How do Dearies view Milah's death? Does it matter? #212444Keb
ParticipantHis killing Milah is one of a few things Rumple’s done that crossed the moral line. It’s hard to watch because I adore him, feel for him, and want him to find his happy ending, but that murder (and the snail and the murder of Honora) were all unjustified, horrific, and make me think that Bobby’s right when he says that New Dark One is the most difficult (so far) of the roles that make up Rumple. New Dark One is scary–he’s got powers he barely comprehends, is still dealing directly with the people who hurt him most when he was powerless, and so he’s in full on vengeance mode, unable to acknowledge his continual fears because he believed that power would free him from cowardice. Yet he IS afraid–afraid of losing Bae (the snail), afraid of losing his power/being killed (Honora), and afraid of what he’s become–which is part of why he unleashed his wrath so completely on Milah.
He’s punishing her for what he did–abandoning Bae–as much as what she did and said, as we’ve already noted. But it touches on his inherent cowardice, too: He’s afraid he’s unlovable. Even Bae was rejecting him after he became the Dark One.
And I think it’s because his anger at himself and his fear is so heartbreaking, so real, and obviously so well portrayed by Bobby, that we’re willing to forgive him–so long as he becomes worthy of that forgiveness. (He hasn’t. Not yet. The swing scene shows that he’s still giving in to the same weaknesses that led to Milah’s murder, which means he hasn’t earned his redemption.) No matter how much you dislike Milah, you can’t excuse Rumple’s decision to kill her. And you don’t have to in order to understand his reasons or sympathize with him regardless.
Loving Rumple is kind of frustrating, because every time you want to root for him, he goes and does something horrible and you want to shake some sense into him. Yet the potential is there–the good heart that Belle sees is so clearly there–and that gives us a reason to root for him. When he finds his good self, he’s going to have to answer for a lot of pain he’s caused (which is not to say he hasn’t paid for it, at least in part…his crueler actions have had direct consequences that have harmed him and the people he does care about).
