ParticipantWe’re suggesting that Pinocchio visited NL before the curse, while Neal was (presumably) still there. Back before he became a real boy the first time.

ParticipantTrue, the council meetings we’ve seen, but David and the dwarves at least were in on the plan to lock up Rumple. I suspect Blue (assuming she knew of it) would have mentioned the dagger then. That also explains why David knew OF the dagger in 215.

ParticipantOh, that would be a delicious way to play it, RG. It’s also possible he got there as a puppet–and could have escaped because he wasn’t a real boy?

ParticipantWell, he either learned about it during the council meetings as a kid, directly from the BF when she agreed to send him through the wardrobe, or from Neal at some point. After all, it’s suggested that they talked a fair bit more than we initially thought, and that August knew from their first meeting who Neal was. (Stuff we didn’t know until fairly recently.)

ParticipantWhy did Regina lock Belle up? Because Belle was the one thing she had over Rumple. When Belle didn’t break the curse on Rumple (but proved she had the power to–that he loved her), she became a weapon. If Regina ever felt threatened by Rumple, she had something he wanted–and wanted very very much even if he wouldn’t admit it–that she could use to get her way. Of course, Belle was also a very dangerous weapon to have in her possession, since the DO doesn’t take lightly to his things being stolen or his TL being imprisoned. That meant that it was essential to keep Belle locked up, and presumably with some serious security at that. Using Belle against Rumple (by either trading or killing her, the latter of which is what Rumple presumed was Regina’s plan in 201) had to be done very delicately not to backfire.
And in 217 we see that Regina almost assumed Rumple would find a way to not be completely under the curse (a good assumption, really), despite her telling him in 102 that he wouldn’t remember a thing. She knows he’s crafty and she picked up on it almost right away (though it took a couple months to confirm it) when he woke up early from the curse (due to Emma’s name). Having even a cursed Belle roaming around free was a huge risk–and deprived her of her weapon. Even giving Belle another name would have been a risk, because Rumple’s good with names, and that would explain why Belle was a nobody with no past in the asylum, instead of Lacey.
Plus, my headcanon is that Belle was a problematic prisoner, cuz she’s smart. Between that and the risk of Rumple finding her, Regina had to keep Belle securely locked up.

ParticipantYeah, but in S2, what’s happening in the other lands is sometimes concurrent with SB. And i managed to get S2 to about 2 months, just barely.

ParticipantOk. Season 2 is giving me a serious headache. Thing is, season one, there are places where I can add a week or two easily as needed. Some stuff clearly is “the next day” between episodes but others, there is room for expansion. Season 2 is super-super-super tight for the most part, with diagetic clues EVERYWHERE that say no, Keb, you may NOT add any more time here. For example, when Henry runs off to blow up magic, Neal says it’s his third day as a father…that makes -sense- but only if they were only in Manhattan for the two days we actually see. (Miiiiiiiiiiiiiight be able to squeeze an extra day or two before they find Neal, but Gold seemed to know precisely where to go–why would he wait?)
But the events of 211-212-213 are all within two days, running up against each other with no pause or chance for added time. 214-215-216 seem to be the next two days, again, without pause.
And then there’s the ridiculous beans that apparently grow overnight. They get them in 213 and by 219 they’re almost ready to use. As we see, 213-216 is only about 3 days. There appears to be about a week between 217 and 218; Snow tells David she went to Regina “last week.” One could perhaps squeeze another week in before 219 believably, but that’s two whole weeks that Gold does -nothing- to reconnect with Belle or Bae?
*headache* Oh, on top of that, there’s the matter of Snow’s birthday, which for various reasons I believe to be the third of March. The cumulative events before that just don’t give us enough time to get to winter, let alone March, from the time the curse ended. Like I said, stuff is just too -tight- in S2. Yet Adam’s said that each season takes about a year. I dunno who he’s got doing HIS timelining, but their heads must hurt too.

ParticipantI’ve got some of my own theories about the way that the Dark Curse has affected the Dark One curse. (Darker, dearie, much darker…)
Since everyone affected by the curse is now both, Rumple is now both Mr. Gold and Rumplestiltskin. As such, he has that human person superimposed on top of his underlying human self and the Dark One self. The return of magic did not result in his limp going away or his physical features going gold–just as Jiminy did not return to being a cricket and the fairies did not suddenly sprout wings. The Dark Curse fundamentally changed everyone it affected, both in their memories/personalities, and, where applicable, physically. It may be that Storybrooke itself is necessary to maintain aspects of the Dark Curse even when it’s been broken, thus why Regina could still activate Lacey, why magic resulted in the town line erasing the non-cursed self, etc etc. It may also be that because magic works differently in the land without magic (or at least Storybrooke), the dark one curse is weaker.
I think that the Mr. Gold part does, to an extent, balance out the Dark One part. I think that it also means, in this world at least, a kiss isn’t sufficient to break the DO curse. I was willing to argue that there were reservations involved in earlier kisses, but the finale kisses…yeah, I just can’t argue that anymore. So I think it either has to do with the cursed self or the fact that they’re in the wrong world. Maybe we should pester Adam on twitter.

ParticipantWell, Bae would be unlikely to say his father’s name often anyway, even if the name thing isn’t something he’s aware of yet (or a power Rumple has cultivated yet). It’s his papa, and that’s the name he thinks of Rumple by. How often do you say your parents’ names? I have to think extra hard when I introduce them to people.

ParticipantHe was choked up when he “thanked” Bae for reminding him of his purpose, too.
Hook needs cuddles.
I’m wondering if Henry will ever hug Hook or Rumple. (I could totally see him hugging Belle once they actually get to really meet–the only scene they’ve been together for is Archie’s funeral.)
Of course, if Neal hugs Hook or Rumple at some point, I’ll probably be a blubbery mess over here.
They really do all just need hugs.
