ParticipantAshley says she’s 19, just for the record, but yes, in an American town it is odd that nobody blinked at her drinking up like that. Especially if she might still be breastfeeding. Ah well. It worked narratively?

Participant…Maybe. I was thinking that specific event might not be big enough on its own for the timeline though. It’ll probably get summed up with other events if it’s mentioned. There are also some interesting features of the timeline that haven’t really been used yet which I may explore (could be useful for the curtains issue).
I don’t think we’ll ever all agree on everything in the timeline. Other than stuff that the creators show us as obviously connected, the stuff in the past is too disjointed (and some of the clues are mere hints) to be 100% sure on everything.

ParticipantI’m working on the Podcast timeline now; please please let me know if there are errors or inconsistencies on it as I add things. The more eyes that are on something, the better the final result will be!

ParticipantWish there was still someone in SB who’d been under the sleeping curse. But I’d love it if Henry were able to get a message to SB, thinking his family is still there, about Bae. Not sure how.
More to look forward to. Is it Autumn yet?

ParticipantIt just depends so much on what Hook and Rumple do from here on out. Right now, they’re on somewhat equal standing–they both helped put Storybrooke and Henry in danger in various ways, they both betrayed Bae (at least from Bae’s POV) a long time in the past, and they’re both only narrowly-reformed villains who seem to slide back and forth over the good/evil line like Lacey walking home from the Rabbit Hole at 6 am. Nobody’s ever entirely sure whose side they’re on at any given moment, and Regina and the Charmings know it.
Regina, though she’s usually the hothead of the three “villains” on board the ship, may actually be the most reliable of them as long as Henry’s in danger, because the one motivation everyone can count on with her is protecting Henry. Emma knows it at this point–she’s seen what Regina’s willing to go through for Henry’s sake–and so she’ll trust Regina that far. It’s likely she’ll trust her even further than that because initially Hook was like “I’ll take the bean and escape alone” and Gold was like “Eh, we’re all gonna die, what’s it matter now?” when Storybrooke was threatened, while Regina actually planned to sacrifice her life to let them escape–if only for Henry’s sake. She’s done more to redeem herself but (from my perspective anyway) had a lot more to redeem than the other two (who have killed and harmed others, but far less gratuitously that we’ve seen).
I’m rambling again. But I totally agree there’s a strong parallel between the Hook-Rumple connection through Bae and the Emma-Regina connection with Henry. I hope we see that played up. Their little truce makes sense–they need each other to save Henry, Hook’s been rethinking the whole revenge thing since he realized he hadn’t succeeded, and Gold knows full well that Belle wouldn’t want him to kill Hook if only for his own sake. She has the interesting effect of both sparking his violent outbursts and quelling them.
I do wonder how the ladies and David will play into the relationship between Hook and Rumple at this point. David, especially, since he and Emma are pretty much the only people that Rumple actually has permitted to see his more vulnerable side besides Belle and Bae. He trusts and admires the two of them more than he does most people, even if he mocks David Nolan a bit–David’s the one person he trusts to understand about Belle, and we know that part of him kinda wishes he could be Charming, but David’s also the guy who locked him up in FTL (whether he wanted it or not). And David’s not especially fond of Hook–see their rather violent altercations every time they meet–so who knows what kind of relationship they’ll forge. Yet they did manage to work together when they were playing cops.
Emma’s relationship between the two could be even more complicated. She’s declared LOVE for Rumple’s son, and bore his grandson, and she’s acknowledged him as family. Yet there’s clearly some attraction between her and Hook–either romantic or kindred spirits or both. I think she’d fling herself between the two of them in an instant to stop one killing the other (we’ve already seen her do this a couple times, actually, in 212 and 215). And we know that Hook appreciates much about Emma, as does Rumple.
Regina and Snow seem kind of on the outside of this dynamic, but they might wind up being drawn in at some point. OMG, is it autumn yet?

ParticipantBelle adventuring!
Belle + Neal adventuring! And bonding over Rumple!
Rumple embracing his grandson, undoing or not!
Ultimate broship: Charming, Hook, and Rumple. (I think I will swoon if the three of them team up for a fight. Yay!)
Ultimate girlbroship: Snow, Emma, and Regina pulling out all the stops and being their total BA selves in a fight working together! Yay!
Sassfest: Srsly. We’ve got Emma, Regina, Hook, and Rumple ON A BOAT. Let the snark fly!
Sidekick Grumpy to the rescue: Ruby might not be around, but Grumpy sure is–let him help Belle and Neal in their awesome adventures to get back to Rumple! Please? Granny can run the town while they’re off with a stack of beans.
Horrible things happening to Tamara and Greg. They meddled with my family 🙁 Also, I’m pretty dang sure that horrible things ARE going to happen to them, because they’re messing with forces they don’t understand, and both science and magic come with a price. They’ve used both. I’m kinda sadistically looking forward to it, though it’s hard to completely hate Greg since Regina totally brought this on herself by separating him from his father. Neal and August and the rest totally didn’t deserve Tamara though.
A conclusion for MAP. I’m so so so happy they rescued Phillip but wth–I want to see how! (And they’ve suggested that we will, thank goodness.) Also, even if they can’t keep Mulan for long, it’d be nice for Belle to get to catch up with an old friend for once. She only knows a handful of people from FTL and half of them are main cast (and thus sort of family).
Belle resolving things with her father. She let Rumple back in. She might forgive her father, too. They don’t have to be best buds–what he did was pretty awful–but she’s a family girl and it hurts having her separated like that from the only family we know she has remaining, outside of the Rumple connections.

ParticipantBut you see, it didn’t show Henry before, or Gold would’ve known that Henry was related to him. I think that the globe -may- require a blood relative to work, but still focuses only on the person you’re seeking. I don’t think it requires the name to be spoken, or shows all blood relatives.

The clip is on the http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time/video#http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time/video/PL55126739/_m_VDKA0_2pdnru18I don’t think he needed to say the name–the spot was already showing, and he whispered Bae like he was caressing his son. I think he genuinely likes Henry a lot, but he never had -that- relationship with Henry and certainly didn’t spend a couple hundred years searching for him. Most magic in this show doesn’t require any spoken aspect.

ParticipantI think there are some threads that are dangling right now, but so far they’ve been pretty good about picking up loose threads later on and making them fabulous (with rare exceptions). Some of the dangling has felt extreme this season (and things like just dropping Whale and Red almost completely kinda hurt…especially knowing that Red’s pretty much gone for the next year at least now), but that doesn’t mean that in the scope of the show it’ll be awful. This time last year, we could’ve been going, wait, why didn’t Rumple ever use his favor, or all kinds of other things that got addressed this season.
And although they DO make us fill in a few of the gaps between scenes with particular characters (how does Grumpy know about Lacey, for example–see my apologetics post elsewhere), I don’t think they’ve been too inconsistent with the characters. The characters are dynamic.
I do wish that they had spent a little more time on Belle because she’s my fave and I had expected to see a lot more of her than we got this season. She also had a fascinating SB story to tell; we didn’t get a whole lot on what Belle’s experience in the assylum was like or how that affected her, nor did we get anything really from amnesiac Belle (and that did feel a little inconsistent–in two scenes she’s freaking out, in three she’s calm and dealing–so what changed? What was setting her off and why?), and NOTHING about the Charmings actually trying to keep her safe (that annoyed actually). It didn’t have to be much, but just a little more than we got. And I think it would have helped continuity if Rumple had gone to see her sometime in the apparent week that happened between guard-dogging and his nightmare. That just felt odd–what did he do all week if he wasn’t trying to make it up to Bae and wasn’t trying to fix Belle? (and it uined my headcanon when they made it clear that he hadn’t been to see her all that time, AND made it clear that about a week had passed.)
But I’m obsessed with Rumbelle and Belle’s character and the episodes that were centric to either Rumple or Belle were all amazing if heartbreaking. So even with the little nitpicky things, I’m pretty happy with the show.
Won’t be if Belle winds up in the same position as Ruby next season, though. Adam’s tweets suggest that won’t happen, but they did put her in a precarious position by leaving her off that ship. It’s either going to be epic (adventures with Bae!) or…let’s not think about it. I’ll need cookies and hugs 🙁
