Mayor Belle WILL have beans. Leroy’s gonna introduce her to Anton and she and Anton are going to get along like a house on fire, talking about adventures and stuff. And then they’ll break into Regina’s office and grow the beans from what’s left of the plant. And then the dwarves will want to try to get to FTL to help them find Snow and Charming, and they’ll find Neal. And Mulan will be all, BELLE! and Neal will get to meet Belle for real and THEY’LL get along too, because they both love Rumple even if Neal’s mad at him still, and they both represent the kind of heroism that Rumple admires. And they’ll bond and have epic adventures trying to find Rumple to help him save Henry. Or himself. Either works.

Henry’s birth mother is light magic; Henry was raised by Regina, who represents dark magic. And even though the DO was post-Bae’s conception, the BF was able to see that Bae had been touched by magic. In fact, magic colored and shaped Henry’s entire existence, as well as the lives of all three of his parents and almost all his grandparents, in some fashion (Cora – dark magic, Henry Sr. – married due to magic, killed by magic to enact the curse, Snow & Charming – brought together by magic (mostly Rumple) and both frequently almost killed by it, Rumple – The Dark One, Milah – killed by magic, and if we want to count Hook & Belle, they’ve both been pretty heavily affected by magic as well and used it on occasion). Oh, AND the Charmings were def True Love, so Emma was the product of True Love, and it seems likely that she had True Love with Neal, making Henry True Love Squared. And True Love is the most powerful magic of all.

He is, through both nature and nurture, the product of both.

I think another reason that Rumple left Belle behind to protect her is that he’s going on a trip with the two people who have hurt her worst to get back at him in the past–Regina and Hook. He can deal with whatever they do to him, but he doesn’t want her to be a proxy target for him again. (He may also be worried about what he’ll do to her at some point, since, let’s face it, he almost killed Henry–his own grandson–believes he killed his own son–and knows that every time Belle’s gotten hurt, it’s been because of him if not directly inflicted by him.)

But what I mostly got out of the podcast was Rumple just needs hugs.

There are two season one clues that portals might possibly maybe be able to cause travel through time as well as space–Rumple’s comment to August when he thought he was Bae and the fact that Regina was able to use the hat to get an apple from the past. BUT A&E have said they’re not doing time travel stuff (on twitter, I think it was). And the ability to travel through time seems very limited, since you don’t see Hook or Regina going back in time to stop their TL’s deaths or Rumple trying to go back in time to get Bae back. Considering everything else they were willing to go through, their not even considering it means it’s not really an option.

Nah, I think she’ll use the spell, and I love the Librarian Mayor Queen Belle theory. I do think that there will be complications with the spell and it will almost certainly get broken at some point, or at least broken through.

They’ll probably also work on regrowing the beans as a backup plan. Perhaps more carefully this time. Leroy can fill Belle in on that scheme. (OMG I NEED BELLE + ANTON SCENES NOW. They’d be such good friends! Think about it!)

I suspect that Neal & SB will connect before Neal + Jolly Roger. He doesn’t know about Henry’s kidnapping or that the rest of The Family went after him. He does know what Belle looks like, at least, so when either they get some beans to go back to FTL or Neal finds a way to SB, he’ll find her and Mayor Belle will tell him what’s up and they can go on an adventure TOGETHER (OMG YES PLZ REAL BELLE + BAE. They’d be such good friends!!! Family Floof!) to get Rumple back for Belle and Henry + Emma back for Neal.

Maybe because they were living as pirates on a ship and didn’t want a little kid getting hurt in that lifestyle? That made…some sense to me.

Milah was a bit of a coward in some ways, though–so maybe she was scared to go back and face Bae’s understandable anger/disappointment with her decision to a) leave him and b) take up piracy with Killian. Whether she regretted leaving him or not, she still made that choice–and before then had made the choice to leave him home alone to go drinking and carousing–no mom of the year awards for Milah, I’m afraid.

She must have had some good qualities–Bae is a fundamentally good person, and her son, and both Rumple and Killian fell for her. She was willing to risk her life to save Killian’s, which demonstrates that she was capable of true love and heroism. We’ve only seen her for brief moments, so it’s hard to really understand her completely–or like her much given how she hurt both Bae and Rumple. But if we can accept that Rumple keeps sending Belle away (or trying to) to protect her, then I think we could accept that Milah didn’t take itty-bitty Bae on a pirate ship for the same reason.

And I love how on Tumblr the accepted summer headcanon is already that because she got the spell to protect Storybrooke, Belle’s about to replace the mayor and the sheriff and run that town. Works for me.
