The Robin Hood stuff almost has to come before Rumple kills the fairy godmother. So, if it IS in fact the same wand, it’s changed hands several times.
Here’s why:
Rumple made a deal with George (in The Shepherd) to get David to pretend to be James so that George could get money from Midas; his deal was to learn the location of a certain fairy godmother. George wouldn’t have needed that money if not for Rumple’s deal with Regina to cut off trade (in The Evil Queen), which happens simultaneously with Belle’s stay at the Dark Castle (Skin Deep; Lacey) because he mentions his new maid to her. Belle meets Grumpy while he’s still Dreamy (Dreamy) AFTER her stay at the Dark Castle (and has time for an adventure after that before being captured–The Outsider). Snow meets Grumpy as Grumpy (7:15 A.M.) sometime after meeting Charming for the first time (Snow Falls), which was after his engagement to Abigail. Snow and Charming attend Cinderella’s wedding as a happy couple (The Price of Gold), suggesting that this is after the wars defeating George and Regina, and their pregnancy is almost simultaneous with Cinderella’s (Alexandra is born on what is apparently Emma’s fifth day in Storybrooke–I’ve got some good evidence for that date–which means they would’ve been born 5 days apart if not for the Curse). There might be a month or more between Snow’s meetings with Charming and Grumpy, since Red says it’s been a month since her last food delivery in 7:15 and she seems to know who Snow is pining for at that point, so with a very very tight timeline, one could argue that -maybe- George’s kingdom goes bankrupt fast enough for some of this to happen before Robin Hood steals the wand, but I struggle making it work. There’s just too much stuff that would have to happen in the couple of months that Belle is with Rumple for it to make sense.
For Rumple to get the wand, this stuff had to happen:
1. Regina makes a deal that includes cutting of trade with King George (The Evil Queen)–within 3-4 days Rumple mentions his new maid (Belle).
2. George goes bankrupt, has James try to prove himself worthy to Midas, James dies, Rumple makes a deal for David to fill in–in exchange for info on the fairy godmother’s location.
3. Rumple shows up when the fairy godmother is talking to Cinderella. That’s the bare minimum. But there’s all this other STUFF… you would kind of have to assume that a, there was a long time between the ball and the wedding for Cinderella, b, George went desperately bankrupt really really fast, and c, the war to take back the kingdoms also happened pretty fast. I dunno. I do think the timeline is probably tighter than I’ve made it, but I also think that leaves too much empty time that doesn’t make sense.

KebParticipantThere’s also some evidence to be drawn from the Christmas sequel, if you want to call that canon–since they show this incident from a slightly different angle and include footage of the young prince. There he looks more like a teenager than a little boy.

KebParticipantThe logic I’ve always gone with is that it -blooms- until his 21st year, but that doesn’t mean that it wilts as soon as he’s 21. So he could have been closer to 15 or so. And Lumiere might have exaggerated the length of the curse a bit, too.

KebParticipantAh. Well, it looks like someone else is doing a story format, so I’ll leave them to it. I personally love excel, but I know it’s not the most user-friendly format for other people. I thought you meant some kind of timeline software or something.
As for the shapeshifting magic…Rumple rarely outright lies. (He does lie sometimes, e.g. Gaston being an old lady selling flowers, but usually his deceptions are omissions, fine print, or playing with words.) I don’t think he would have lied about the difficulty of the spell; he could have gotten what he wanted by just teaching it to her (price for learning it: cut of trade with George; effect: she sees what people really think of her). The only difference would have been her having magic and probably calling off the whole thing earlier. Also, considering that he needs Regina to trust him–just enough–to cast the Curse at that point, he’s not going to risk her learning the spell later and discovering that he was lying about it.
And I do think that holding the shape of another would be more difficult to sustain when magic is powered by emotion. I’m a bit of an emotional person myself, and it’s hard to sustain the extreme emotions for long periods of time (though clearly it gets easier with practice in FTL). Taking a heart, though, is done quickly, and I don’t think we’ve seen anyone do it in an unemotional state.

KebParticipantHm. Magic relies upon emotion. That means that sustaining it might be harder than something instant–and inherently a bit emotion-driven like seizing a heart.

KebParticipantYeah, I only caught it cuz someone pointed it out on Tumblr. But it is kinda brilliant. We obsess when we think they’ve messed some detail up (*cough curtains cough*) but the creators on this show DO pay attention to details. When stuff is in constant development, with the RL issues of human availability, money, issues with production (like things in the pilot that don’t quite match up–“she thought I was prettier than her”–written long before they knew there would really be a first season) etc etc, there are going to be inconsistencies. But when they get the details right, they REALLY get them right. *adores*

KebParticipantOh, no–Cora as in transform herself to look like someone else. She didn’t have that power before the events of Skin Deep (though it looks like she started working on it, given the highlights she was rocking when she met Belle on the road). So anytime before then, we don’t have to ask “is that the Queen in disguise?” After, it’s a possibility, though she doesn’t seem to like that spell as much as her mother did. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Rumple do it at all, though he must have the power if he can teach it…but it’s clear that different magic users favor different spellsets, which makes sense.

KebParticipantBwahahahah. I had a moment like that with my sister’s cat once. It scratched my eyebrow and while I love cats very much, it caused this visceral reaction of fear in me–I guess cuz it was so close to my eye. Took me a week before I could feel normal around cats again, and I wouldn’t come home till someone trimmed the cat’s claws.

KebParticipantMe too! I love it when the backstories interweave, even if it does wreak havoc on the timeline.

Updated.
Put Tiny’s events after the Evil Queen and Child of the Moon immediately after Red-Handed, before The Evil Queen.
