KebParticipant
Yeah, but when that one person is a) the person who gave her the curse b) her occasional enemy and c) the most powerful person she knows…it’s not outside the realm of possibilities. I don’t think it’s that likely, but I think it’s possible. Having Belle captive was already a backup plan against Rumple. Rumple said in 201 that she was kept to be killed when it suited the queen, which is an interesting accusation that she did not deny. It would be risky to tie her failsafe to Belle given the stakes should Rumple discover her, but it still seems possible–a way to prevent him from stopping her from using it.

KebParticipantAnd, actually, Frankenstein’s Land Without Color is a really good parallel–especially as his timeline seems to match up with Jefferson/Regina pretty well. And that means that his “past” time actually isn’t that far in the past. Which means that AltLondon could easily be a century earlier and still have the trappings of our later London.

KebParticipantWell, there’s some disagreement about the curtain scene anyway. The way I’m having it play out in my timeline is:
1. Belle arrives, gets thrown in dungeon.
2. Next day, Belle gets instructions and drops the cup.
3. Regina demands the spell to change her appearance.
4. A couple days pass with Snow before she gets back to the Dark Castle.
5. The curtain scene happens during this time.
6. Rumple changes Regina back, mentions his promising new maid.
7. Robin Hood stuff.
8. The rest of Skin Deep.I think the curtain scene DOES change things for them, but with the Robin Hood stuff it isn’t the pivotal change. Rather, I think the hug is the pivotal one. That’s why I think the curtain scene has to come first. I also think that Robin Hood shows up less than a week after Belle’s arrival, so the timeline’s tight here with this sequence. But I think that Belle’s effect on him has to have been minimal for him to still be twisting Regina as he is.
Honestly, though, I could see fair arguments for the elements from the three eps to be in a completely different order. This is just what I’m going with sans more evidence.

KebParticipantI’m still terrified that Regina would have used Belle as part of her failsafe plan. She did use Mal, so…

KebParticipantI think that there can’t be any holding back from either party for TLK to work. The one passionate kiss between them happened right after Rumple made a promise he was already working out how to break.
But I think too that the DO curse is a little diluted in SB. Not quite sure how–just that Mr. Gold seems to balance Rumplestiltskin out a bit. And things like getting stabbed outside the magic area can still affect him within the magic area. Stuff like that.

KebParticipantIt seems pretty clear that they have an interest in Rumple. Regina’s of more interest because of Kurt, but they’re keeping tabs on him. Helps that Tamara’s “dating” the DO’s son…

KebParticipantThey said in an interview that the theme of the end of this season is that all magic comes with a price. But Rumple told Whale that “whatever you traffic in, it comes with a price” in The Doctor, if I remember right.
So both science and magic are going to face off and there’s going to be a price for both?

KebParticipantBut the thing is, this show is AMAZING at squeezing in a bloody lot in too short a timeframe. I don’t know how often I’ve looked at the clock with like ten minutes left and gone HOW? just HOW will they wrap THIS up? And yet they do and then they twist and there’s something to wait for next time. Every single time.

KebParticipantI was just writing about that myself. They’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do.

KebParticipantSo. Six months later. If that’s six months after falling through the portal he made with the bean, then Bae came to (a) London of the Victorian era a couple hundred years ago (according to Bae’s own account of his age to Emma). But the London they’re depicting looks like ours of a hundred twenty, a hundred fifty at most, years ago.
Doesn’t sync up well with the timeline 🙁 I estimated Rumple at about 49 when Bae leaves him, which works well with the actor’s age and the claim of Rumple being about 300, but that leaves us about 250 years between then and now. Wonder how/if they’ll explain it. They have indicated that magic -can- go across time (Rumple says time/space to August, Regina used the hat to get an apple from the past). Also wonder whether this is Bae’s first stop and if it counts as our world or not.
