She knew the curse would require his sacrificing the heart of the person he loves most. At that point in time, that wasn’t actually possible for him–he had just lost the only person he loved.
Part of me wonders if that’s part of why he sent Belle away–fear that if he actually did give in and let himself love her completely, he’d destroy her.
Or maybe BF knew he couldn’t do that to someone he really loved (cuz, seriously, the worst thing he was ever able to do to Belle was send her away and shake her a bit, and the worst thing he ever did to Bae was let go of him–big things but not intentional harm, just fear taking over–while Regina was actually capable of taking her father’s heart and killing him while loving him). Of course there’s the complication of what he ultimately did to Cora, but love can turn to hate pretty quickly under some circumstances. (And it wasn’t true love, even if neither was playing the other.)

KebParticipantSome knighthoods in some places were hereditary. And within a feudal system, a knight is just a mini-king over whatever lands he has been granted by whatever king he pledges fealty to.
They did nicely confuse things by her saying “kingdom” in Lacey though.

KebParticipantSo, horrible thought: What if Belle is somehow part of the trigger? I’m not sure how that would work exactly, but Regina kept her as insurance against the most dangerous person she brought along (besides herself–Regina really is a danger to herself). She also went into the curse believing that Rumple wanted it cast and wouldn’t want it broken again, because from her perspective, what sense did that make?

KebParticipantBelle’s saying she’s had a couple of months to look around when she asks about Bae’s clothing, combined with “It’s almost spring!” suggests that yes, it was winter or late fall when she came to the Dark Castle.

KebParticipantHm, it does look different to me. But that’s okay–there were two magic lamps in Disney’s Aladdin, so it’s legal.

KebParticipantI think the curtains appear drawn in the later scenes of Skin Deep, rather than just gone, don’t they?

KebParticipantHm. Her confidence and fearlessness with Rumple in Lacey (while fairly native to Belle anyway) might also spring from his having saved her from the fall, too. I dunno. The significance of the curtains seems to me stronger than the significance of her dress change. And I still haven’t seen a strong enough argument on the behavior angle for me to move it yet.
And I could see the reaction oppositely, RG. When he catches her, it’s not her willingly touching him, it’s almost purely accidental–he didn’t think before catching her, and she didn’t mean to fall. He’s mostly surprised by the sunlight (which he has been hiding from) and the fact that she just looks at him curiously, not frightened by his appearance in the least. And then it gets awkward and both of them pretend nothing happened. She might be glimpsing in that moment that there’s something good inside him, but she doesn’t actually have him figured out yet.
When she hugs him, that’s her choosing to embrace him. That’s her deciding that yep, there definitely is good in there, she was right. And him realizing that she sees right through him and he kinda likes it.

KebParticipantWell, the curtain scene represents the first time that Belle actually gets a good look at him in daylight. And her reaction is that she can put them back up; he says he’ll get used to it.
