KebParticipant
Third generation trekkie, my second crush was on Wesley Crusher (he’s only a few years older than me so it’s not THAT weird). TNG is still my favorite, though I really enjoyed some of the characters on DS9 and Voyager and loved Enterprise. Some of my earliest writing was Trek fanfic. I’ve a couple uniforms hanging in my closet (DS9 era shirt and a TOS dress) that I put together.

KebParticipantPrincess Ozma. She’s not in the first book so she missed out on the 1939 movie (which is what most people know of Oz), but she’s pretty epic in her own right. (She’s not in Oz the Great and Powerful, either, but I didn’t really expect her to be.)

KebParticipantI enjoyed it, though I bet that many hardcore Wicked fans won’t like it as much. It’s beautiful and felt in many ways like a bridge between the 1939 film that everyone knows and the books that I grew up loving to death. (It pays homage to both in myriad ways.)
It’s not the greatest movie ever, but there’s much to love about it, despite what some of the critics are saying. And I was on the edge of my seat quite a bit for it. In a couple places, the 3D was even worth the surcharge.

KebParticipantAfter The Miller’s Daughter I’m quite convinced that getting a title for Bae is the last thing on Gold’s mind when he ships Swanfire. He bonded with Cora over a mutual hatred for an abusive ruling class–never mind that he probably had his own castle by then. He did not, however, try to claim a title for himself, other than The Dark One, and he easily could have if he so desired–look how he’s put other people into power with his deals.
I don’t think he has anything against royalty that behaves itself (or furthers his own agenda), and clearly he finds them quite useful when it comes to dealmaking, but look at what he says to Cinderella when she wants to go to the ball–he thinks she’s better of where she is. He implies it’s because of the price of magic, but just perhaps he doesn’t see much value in marrying royalty. (Could even be lingering bitterness from what Cora chose? At least from the character’s perspective, since I doubt the writers thought this far ahead for ep 104. But half the fun is filling in the missing bits.)

KebParticipantI’m assuming he IS locked up somewhere, actually, which is why we haven’t seen him. But the Charmings kinda suck at keeping people under custody (Hook anyone?).

KebParticipantIt’s possible that as Rumple starts fading, his spell does too. Or possible that he had to deactivate it for them to get into the shop, and didn’t have the strength to put it back up; Emma’s just learning so hers might not be as strong as his. Cora said that using Rumple’s magic would kill him faster, so it makes some sense.

KebParticipantOkay, the portal thing, in Gold’s defense: He honestly believed that Cora would beat Emma and Snow. Cora in Storybrooke would have been a serious threat to him (and she DID find his dagger and almost kill him with it) as well as the people he loved (oh and everyone else but let’s face it, Gold probably wasn’t too concerned about them). He told Cora that he had had a vision of their final confrontation, so that probably fed into his belief that it would be Cora to come through any portal.
His telling Regina that the potential collateral damage, Emma and Snow dying, was a win-win for her was a manipulation to get her help, which he apparently needed.
And he apologized to Emma for doubting her when it turned out he was wrong. (We’ve seen him apologize a lot in the last few episodes, but I don’t think he did much of that at all before Belle came back into his life–and most of his apologies have been directed at her or Bae anyway.) Oh, and Emma? She agreed that he had done the right thing in trying to keep Cora out. He didn’t know yet how powerful Emma was (though he had suggested she was more powerful than she knew).
So while he was willing to risk their lives to prevent Dark One Cora (I so suspect she’s tried before…there’s GOT to be more to their story), he wasn’t actually out to kill Snow and Emma with that incident.
He has been totally out to kill Regina (though he didn’t try again after the wraith failed…I guess that’s a step toward trying?) and Hook (who, let’s face it, literally was asking for it)(and for Belle’s sake he didn’t kill Hook. Twice.). Moe was perhaps more victim of one of his tantrums–it wasn’t so much intent to kill as being driven over the cliff by his emotions, but no, he wouldn’t have stopped if Emma hadn’t come in; however, if we’re going to give credit to whomever sets people up–Regina SO set up Moe for that.
I think Cora is the first person he’s actually succeeded in taking a life from since he got to Storybrooke, though not because he never tried. And I do think he values life more highly than younger Dark One Rumple did–the speech about Kathryn (whom Regina contracted for him to, in her mind, kill and he merely kidnapped–something tragic!), and “merely” turning Smee into a rat being my main evidence.
Regina was actually motivated by the idea of killing Emma and Snow at the well, though she too feared Cora’s return (after all, she had tried to assassinate the woman, and had sent her through a mirror…how was she to know that Mommy wanted her back?). Plus Graham, out of pure jealous hatred. Plus she wanted Kathryn dead, tried to kill Snow by having her sent out of Storybrooke, tried to put Emma under the sleeping curse, set up Sidney (who actually DOES love her) to take the fall, etc etc etc, and has only been reforming in the hope of being allowed into Henry’s life. I agree that Regina’s suffered a huge amount of anguish and she’s been manipulated by both Cora and Rumple into the evilness we see, but she’s made some of her own choices along the way, too.
Cora still wins for pure unadulterated evilness in my mind, since while post-curse Gold is almost always motivated in his crimes by his love for Belle/Bae or his own self-defense, and Regina usually by her desire to be with Henry, Cora kills people just because.
Oh, in her absence, can we please see more of King George and his evilness? A loose thread that bears picking up again. Not all the people of Storybrooke are innocent or on the Charmings’ side.

KebParticipantWell, someone asked on Twitter if it was going to be a real death, and they said yes. I think she’s gone.
Does that mean that things won’t transpire? Frankenstein’s still around…and there are other worlds yet to explore.
Still, the wound was transferred, and Snow used Cora’s name, which means it had to be the right heart. The box was sealed with a bit of straw. And she had to probably fairly quickly shove all the things she wanted onto the Jolly Roger when she set off, so putting the heart there makes some sense.

KebParticipantI definitely got that impression. It was a very cold rejection of him, to start with, whether she had loved him or not (and he wasn’t inclined to believe it then). But yes, I think he would never have done that to himself–I think it did go beyond his brand of evil in some way. And we can see how it set her up to become a monster later.

KebParticipantCharming actually has swiped him before–he managed to cut Rumple’s cheek back in the Infinite Forest when they fought, and he was actually the mastermind who arranged for the trap and prison in FTL that kept Rumple locked up those last couple months before the curse. There’s reason that Gold said he was worried about Charming after the curse was broken.
So it’s possible that David could get in a hit before Gold heals himself and decides on his next move.
