Honestly, I think he just likes babies. Yeah, he jokes about skinning children with Belle, but that was just a quip–he knows his reputation. The only person he’s done anything for freely (besides Bae and Belle, whom he sees as his in a way) is Henry (and that was before he knew they were related). Though he did help Emma reunite Hansel and Gretel with their father. And when he cuddles baby Bae…awwwwwwwww.

Yeah, I don’t trust Blue either, but I’m skeptical that she set Rumple up to fail and create the curse. I think she hoped he would go with Bae for the good of everyone, and she honestly seemed worried about the curse when it became imminent.

I think too that Belle complicates his feelings about magic, since he still thinks he has to fix her–and he’s scared of losing his own memories outside of Storybrooke. So he’s gone back to what he knows.

Well, it had to be easy–he’s scared that he’ll lose his memories somehow, and he needed a way to find it again and protect himself. He probably figured that memory or not he’d find Belle somehow–he watched it happen with the Charmings, after all. So it made sense even if it did feel like Regina & co figured it all out awfully fast.

Rumple hasn’t been a good friend with the fairies since he blamed Blue for taking his son away. Perhaps by the time Blue learned that the tree could be used that way, there wasn’t much hope of getting Rumple to listen to her.
