With the situation looking grim, Gold (Robert Carlyle) advises everyone to spend their final fleeting moments with their loved ones, which is exactly what he does with Belle (Emilie de Ravin). “There’s a lovely moment in episode 11 where he genuinely thinks that’s it for everyone, because they have been marked, and the ferryman is coming to take them all to the Underworld,” Carlyle says. “He thinks that’s the end of it. He meets up with her and gives her this car and a potion to cross the town line and be unaffected by it. She’s obviously saying, ‘Why are you trying to get rid of me?’ He’s like, ‘I’m not. I just want you to have the life you’ve always wanted. You’ve wanted to see the world, you’ve wanted to experience life, and I want you to do that,’ not telling her that obviously that he and the rest of them are going to die.”
…interesting and VERY spoilery since that’s probably all we’ll see of Belle unless there are shady shenanigans going on with her…
Also why not send Henry with Belle in that case? I mean, yeah, his mothers would not agree to it, but…

DO Rumple had every reason to be ticked off at Belle after she kicked him out of town using the dagger and then immediately started dating Will. He DID trick her to get the dagger back…but then EVERYTHING else we saw him do at that point to her/with her was kind. (Some found it creepy but it was still not cruel to put her in bed when she was under the sleeping curse or to get her heart back to her.)
DO Killian is being downright cruel to the woman he claims to love. The DO curse may make people push away their loved ones–Rumple HAS hurt Belle and hurt Bae, too, but even when Emma hurt Henry it was a side effect of their other goals–never the direct intention to inflict pain, even if they knew they were doing so. And when they did, they were shown trying to make up for it.
(One possible exception to this: Rumple’s murder of Milah…but I read that largely as being, at that point, a “side effect” of his guilt over Bae–not so much that he was still in love with her and heartbroken she’d left.)
DO Killian intentionally hurt Emma’s feelings because he wanted to get revenge on her for making him the DO. Unless he’s given another motive, I find this -really- troublesome against the idea that Captain Swan could be a “true love” couple.

Yeah, well, Belle went from “It’s never too late!” to “I don’t know if I want this to work” in screentime of 2.5 seconds flat.

If they drop Belle completely I don’t know what I’m watching for anymore. I don’t think they’d do that…but…there are other things I didn’t think they’d do either.

Hook took Emma’s memory of what Dark Ones Want, is my understanding. So that she would be left guessing what his plan was–the summoning of the DO boat party.

What would have been most satisfying to us Beauty and the Beast fans. “My father’s sick, and now that you’re okay, I have to help him. Let’s figure this out when he’s better.”

I think the thing that the writers needed to express, if this scene were to feel at ALL genuine, was that Belle is faced with loving a person who manipulated her, lied to her, and used her to cover up his crimes. If she had said something about how she couldn’t look at him without seeing the person who had hurt her, even though she knows things are different now, it would have felt more real to me, more in character. Asking for time, or wanting to take things slowly as they consider how/whether to rebuild their relationship, that made sense.
But I’m not the only one who felt like Belle was doing so OOC. It felt forced, uncomfortable, and just not like Belle. It was made extra painful by setting it up as her giving him hope before breaking his heart, which Belle would never intentionally do to him. The stuff about trying to heal his heart and breaking hers, while thematic, just…didn’t flow well. It didn’t fit the shape of their relationship. CS’s, maybe, which is probably what they were trying to do with this (because honestly that’s what the show has become about, no matter what they say).
Basically they had Belle saying the things that Killian and Emma need to say to each other (and probably won’t), to Rumple, in a context that didn’t make sense since there was SOME time when they could have, yanno, actually TALKED.

They could easily have given Belle her normal screen time and we’d still never see her. No need to break Rumbelle up for Emilie’s pregnancy :p

I firmly believed that Rumple and Belle needed to take things slowly after everything that’s changed in their relationship. Belle’s declaration, however, felt very OOC to me, and I’m rather convinced that someone was doing shenanigans with her (Hook didn’t get his actual revenge, so he just MIGHT have despite the fact that his goal was just to get Rumple’s blood.)
