Yeah, I appreciated the mention of Tiny, but I was still annoyed by her reasoning for wanting to leave. Plus it crushed the whole Frankenwolf ship, and Ruby & Belle’s friendship, and just went against the whole happy ending of Ruby and Granny being family again and not arguing all the time.

It bugged me. Ruby made her choice about the wolves when she chose to save Snow from Anita.

This kinda undid all that character growth, and all those relationships.

Her plus Mulan plus Merida was awesome but it really needed more Belle.

Liked:

–Belle & Rumple’s awesome cameo & crossbow.
–The magic effects were pretty.
–Learning how she got the house. It was a nice explanation.
–Zelena vs Whale was just epic.
–Hook confessing to just how dark he used to be.
–Regina’s determination to protect her sister, I was going HECK YEAH SISTERS.

Disliked:

–I’d have bought the can’t let them die thing about Henry. Or Neal even. Hook? No. And as RG points out, Emma DID let Neal die and actively enabled his death. And current Dark One Rumple, who loved Neal even MORE, couldn’t stop it either. So Killian’s death she suddenly can? By making more than one Dark One? Yeah, no.
–Wait wait wait. But the two parts of the sword represented the dark and the light. Excalibur was the light part, the dagger was the dark. Merlin, Nimue. So why does this make Hook DARK?
–Wait wait wait. What happens to Merlin then? Does he die just because he’s no longer tethered? What?

All in all it was pretty but messed up and confusing, and that’s without any timeline nonsense.

My TV reception kept dying this hour (fine the first, dunno what happened) and I really miss analog TV, so I’ll save full commentary for after I can watch it properly on itunes tomorrow, but:

Merida & her dad made me cry. Too beautiful for words.

Disliked:

All three of these women know Belle but not ONE mention of her (that I could see, thanks digital TV).

Red, who is devoted to her Granny, just runs off like that without a way back?

Mixed:

2 years ago. So…according to their timeline exactly when the curse is cast? (according to mine, just a few months before?) Just after? It really messes with Mulan’s timeline since I thought she was with Phillip from ~3 years before the curse to about 7 months after it was broken. Why is she off working for Fergus instead of helping Phillip find Aurora?

Since they’ve got Henry saying he’s 13 already, and their timeline has two years since time started moving (I say it’s still not quite 3 months shy of that, though there is a tiny bit of wiggle room), then Emma probably already IS 30 in their minds. If not, she’s very close.

Updated the timeline with info from 501 (and a few notes from 507).

So, what have I worked out?

–“Present” time is now in August 2013 by my calculations. I suspect it’s more toward Autumn in A&E’s minds.

–Merlin found the grail in approximately 976 AD. The era of Arthur starts in 1976, a decade plus 28 years before Emma and the gang arrive in Camelot, when Arthur draws the sword from the stone.

–I am more confident than ever, thanks to Adam’s tweets, about Rumplestiltskin’s early timeline–he became the Dark One in about 1860, and would have been around 200 when Emma came to Storybrooke.

Questions I hope will be answered tonight (or in the near future, or ever):

–does anyone CARE about Belle (they all LIKE her, sure) besides Rumple? (Oh, wait, that’s nothing to do with the timeline, sorry.)

–When and how did Nimue cease being the Dark One?

–Where does Gorgon fit into the DO timeline?

–Thanks to the book, does Henry know his father went through the same thing at the same age? Will he ask Rumple about how Baelfire dealt with having a DO parent?

–When IS Henry’s birthday? (I have it set to Emma’s birthday, which means he can’t be 13 yet, on the logic that she insisted he was born when she was 18 BUT he was ten when he found her on her 28th birthday. I strongly suspect that A&E did not mean for them to have the same birthday, however.)

I’m pretty sure it’s not before The Curse though, at this point, which was my initial belief. And A&E love to scrunch things up on the timeline and then pretend it took a reasonable time later :p

I suspect this isn’t THAT long ago. Mulan was last seen just before the beginning of the Lost Year. Merida, meanwhile, lost her father probably only weeks (3-6, I’d wager) before kidnapping Belle. My gut says this flashback is pretty recent…though at one point I thought that Red’s involvement suggested something pre-curse.

However, if Red got left behind by the Curse that brought everyone back to Storybrooke, she may have been in FTL with Mulan and apparently all of Camelot and Dun Broch while Zelena was terrorizing our heroes and Elsa was trying to find Anna. Which, apparently in the minds of the writers took almost a year, but whatever.

Regina has a history of feeling entitled to other people’s children, including Henry during the period when she had, for all intents and purposes, lost custody of him to the Charmings and/or Emma because she was still, yanno, trying to kill people. (This does not disregard the fact that her adoption of Henry was legit or that she IS rightfully his mother…but she is no longer his ONLY mother and she was willing to destroy Storybrooke to achieve that status at one point. She told him so to his face before wiping his memory.)

That’s part of what made me wary of her growing relationship with Roland, and while Zelena’s actions with regards to the pregnancy are far more abhorrent, Robin is really the only one who should have any say in the custody of that child. Regina does not get custody just because she likes its father and happens to be its aunt.
