ParticipantFear and Desperation seem to be Rumple’s favorite tools for corruption. See Jiminy, Regina, Snow White, Anna…though in the last case he was merely tempting her in the hopes that she wouldn’t be corrupted.
With Snow White, what actually corrupted her was seeing Johanna die. She lost faith in goodness–lost hope that if one does the right thing, good things will happen. We’ve seen Regina and Rumple both succumb to that when they have struggled to reform (and it’s easier for them because they’ve actually tested being bad with a lot of positive results–it made Rumple rich, powerful, and relatively safe, for example, and he had every reason to believe that continuing to be evil Just A Little Bit Longer would have made him more powerful and more safe).

ParticipantFavorite Episode Overall:
Skin Deep, hands down.
BUT I’ve truly enjoyed all the episodes where Belle is a prominent character–The Outsider, Lacey, Dark Hollow, and Family Business all felt to me powerful and fun at the same time. The Outsider in particular is the one that started me timelining and drew me into the community of Oncers, even though I’d been watching from day one.

ParticipantEp 322:
Hook: (shrugs) I’m the hell of a captain. (Emma chuckles) Once I was outside the curses purview I knew that the walls were down. Transport between the realms was possible again. All I needed was a magic bean.
Ep 119:
Blue Fairy: In this world, yes. You see, what ails your father is specific to our realm. His powers do not belong here. You must go where you can escape that wretched curse.
Rumplestiltskin: Oh, I’ll find a way. There must be other paths. A realm jumper?
Ep 208:
Cora: Is that so? What if I told you that when a Wraith consumes a soul, it merely travels to another realm. And that soul could be brought back to this world. Show me a little courtesy and I may explain how. (Aurora kicks the tray at her feet.)
Hook: Give Emma a message. Tell her that the deal still stands; if she provides me passage back to her realm, I swear, I will help her find that dust that opens the portal.
I’m not making this up. However, in 208 Mulan also uses “realm” to refer to a local kingdom–I’m not saying it’s never used that way either. I get the confusion. I think the term is still accurate to what I’m trying to decide here.

ParticipantI’m not worried about continents–they’re handwavey enough about the distances between places as it is. (And the Dark Castle can’t be more than a day’s ride from any of the kingdoms whose royalty we know of except Arendelle, jeez).
I do think realm has been used to describe a world frequently, it’s not a 1:1 correspondence with kingdom. That’s why I picked up on that word in the first place. But it’s not a big deal–I’m just trying to figure out whether the EF is the whole world, part of it, or Snow’s kingdom right now. The usage within the show until Arendelle really supported the idea of it’s being the whole world.

ParticipantOR: What if Dark Emma isn’t actually Emma at all? What if it’s someone else they’re making into a second Emma? What if it’s Lily?

ParticipantThough to go with the theme of heroes and villains…maybe they’re operating on some crazy theory that if they corrupt all the heroes, so there ARE no more heroes, then they’ll have to get their happy endings since EVERYONE will be a villain. Which would give Rumple good cause to try to corrupt Belle (and possibly a way to win her back–see, sweetheart, you’re just like me, so it’s okay).

ParticipantI’m thinking that in order to get back into Storybrooke, Rumple has to corrupt the savior–this somehow opens a backdoor in the curse.

ParticipantSo…Rumple’s plan is to corrupt Emma? That’s…dark.
…I wonder if he’ll try to corrupt Belle, too?

ParticipantI’m pretty sure they’ve used realm interchangeably with both kingdom and world in the show. Anyway, I’ve started changing things on my spreadsheet and it’ll eventually get changed on the site timeline since I’m feeling more and more convinced that the Enchanted Forest is mainly Leo/Regina/Snow’s kingdom.
