And it’s really unlikely we’ll see either Belle or Rumple. So while I’m excited for more Oz and Cora and “Valet” (The fan solution of Henry Sr. works FINE people), oh and James, I’m probably not going to like this as much as 517 no matter what they do.

I’m holding out a shred of hope that we’ll get to see Belle comforting her child and meeting up with Henry in the Netherworld.
But I doubt they’ll throw us that bone 🙁

Return to Oz basically combined the plots of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series, and was also terrifying and still suggested it was a dream sequence. (The books, imo, were better, but I still have a soft spot for that movie for some reason.)

It worked for me (which actually surprised me a bit when I realized who they were going with), and one reason was that Ruby, at least, is a character with some rooted history. That made Snow’s support, and Mulan’s, feel more genuine, and tied the relationship into the show a little better. It wasn’t like Hercules and Meg one-off-ness. But it does seem unlikely we’ll see them again.
THOUGH. Wasn’t there mention of a asylum plot in the future? And that bit ties Dorothy’s story to Return to Oz, the movie from the 1980s, so…that…could actually be cool. I dunno.

Yeah, I’m kinda hoping for something similar to that…Rumple HAS to be willing to lose his powers to get to that point, but Rumple is a more fun character with power.
I do wonder though if his wanting the DO Curse and Belle’s wanting the sleeping curse in this case could interfere with TLK.

In Skin Deep, he let down his guard and was not clinging to the curse until he realized Belle could break it.
Belle explained why that was the last time it broke the curse to Hook in 502:
Hook: True Love’s Kiss. I need to know why it didn’t work for you and the bloody crocodile.
Belle: Why, it did work, the first time. It awoke the man behind the beast. But Rumple got scared of a life without power, and he chose power over love. He pulled away from me, and in that moment, the darkness forever regained its grip on him. You know, a curse isn’t a curse anymore when the afflicted wants it.
That’s the canonical according to GoogleBelle reason that TLK only has worked once between Belle and Rumple.
They’ve apparently added this layer that Rumple cannot break HER curse without breaking his own…which in my headcanon about what True Love actually means makes sense. Most of the TLK couples we’ve seen have been in a mutually sacrificial part of their relationship–willing to sacrifice for the other–and I think that’s important…so Rumple may HAVE to be willing to sacrifice his power for it to work. But I’m not sure that’s a necessary part of the kiss itself; I think it’s a necessary part for THEM because his clinging to power has been the chief thing between them since they were married.

Important question: Rumple’s ability to come and go from the Underworld required both his blood and the DO dagger/magic.
If he gives up his power before they go back to Storybrooke/other realms, are they all stuck?
