ParticipantMaybe he goes in to steal something that’s been confiscated for evidence, like the potion?
Hm, curiouser and curiouser! We know the Darlings are sticking around for like a minute so maybe they have some help to offer from the resources of the Home Office’s confiscated magic items. (The ones not destroyed of course, the ones being “tested”).
Who knows how elaborate the cover stories Pan created were supposed to be, because they could have anything from it was all just dummy cells operating blind to there’s an actual building and hundreds of duped employees. Charles Widmore is an investor of course. (Lost reference). Ok, not so sure of that, but odds are someone will drink some McCutcheon whiskey at some point again.
I suppose I continue to think there’ll be build up for Oz and not sure whether they’ll go to Oz in S3.2. On the one hand, they might want to break into their take on Oz before a lot of other shows do it, on the other, I think they got feedback that people missed having all the characters together in SB. Or some of us did. Can’t please all the people all the time.

ParticipantI think it was something like “If there’s one thing I know about you, you always find what you’re looking for.”
The “may take awhile line” reminds me of Pan and Felix lol. Now I wonder what the story is there. There’s only 3 episodes left this “arc” and then it is Wildly Different…wonder what that means? I would think having scenes in real world NY, unleashing our fairy tale characters from SB would qualify. I’m not sure I’m on the “body swap” train but possible. It could be a way to allow otherwise “trapped” characters to go exploring. I think a new curse so there’s no line on memories makes more sense though. It would be good after the angst to have something more light and fluffy for a bit, build up to Oz. Tonally something more in keeping with some of the S1 episodes and the Ariel episode. .
Oh well 2 weeks to wait for much new to discover!

ParticipantI knew they didn’t map stuff out seasons ahead! I mean they have an idea of some things, but others they arc out in “camps” season to season. They are talented though at making it fit the things already written (yet we do that too….sneaking suspicion they’ve got an intern stalking us and our crazy ideas!).

ParticipantI think it is so odd they said nothing about his mother. That is why I suspected a dead fairy as mother theory, but not Blue. Then again why not! They totally had a Darth Vader moment with BF emerging from her flower.
So who else has parents we do not know about?
David: FatherHook: Father & Mother
Belle: Mother
Snow: Could learn more about Eva and her “slippers” if Oz comes into play.
Regina: Cora’s got to have some more eventful moments, and I was curious about Xavier’s kingdom though not sure we’d see him again. Did Regina have cousins?

ParticipantOh HE, they shouldn’t write out Snow and David! I love them and maybe you are exactly right, that Snow will get to save Emma. The show has put our “gang” in dire straits and made them all full of angst with each other over things said and unsaid between them. This is all on purpose, and I doubt they are going to leave it that MM is just moving on from trying to mother Emma to fade into the background!
Every character has to trade the limelight at one point or another. They each get turns on centrics but even outside of that, we have to see moments where some get weak so the others can be strong. It’s just how it goes.
I can’t wait for the 309 and I bet the dialog recording probably has to do with recording outdoors and we’re pretty sure they set a scene at the school.

ParticipantThese writers use vague things to leave themselves room sometimes I think!

ParticipantI too would prefer CSF stay in CSF other than a simple acknowledgement that there IS CSF hovering in the harbor, but Emma’s choice is Henry. We may never see her choose more and I’d be happy with that if it is written well!
One last thing though to defend Screwball Ninja: The very sentence after the one that caused Hookian to dismiss Screwball’s entire essay was this : “And possibly not even then, since everyone’s related to Henry, making them his potential in-laws if he succeeds in his wooing.” Yes she made a joke, but did not reduce Hook’s interest to just that joke.

ParticipantPom, you say it wonderfully!
Hookian: Screwball does talk about that shallow view of Hook’s motives, but she does explain where that comes from because that is a common view of Hook just as you brought it up when no one that I recall in THIS thread even said it.
I may have missed posts, but I know I didn’t dismiss Hook that way. Hook’s previous relationship with Milah was signficant–yet we know so few details of it too. There’s a lot we extrapolate and imagine to be true so let’s remember the writers can with a few scenes do so many things.
I came up with the idea as a crack spec that Pan would be Hook’s father. He turned into Rumples, even though earlier we heard Pan talk about Rumple’s father. I remember RG arguing about it, because it sounded more like Rumple and Pan both knew Rumple’s father as a third person. SNEAKY writers are sneaky!
So let’s remember the writers have had many chances to be absolutely clear cut, even for shippers who don’t want to see with a TLK or Emma saying to Neal “I don’t love you anymore and never will again, except as someone important to Henry.” Or something similarly dismissive of Hook’s stated intentions. Instead she says to both Men, she’s choosing Henry and who knows if the writers will ever have her change her mind within the show!
They may just leave it dangling forever. I doubt that, but they could, and in some ways there was ambiguity with LOST’s big quadrangle too. (It’s been argued about anyway).

ParticipantI love that idea, of the water and poison, even if the more rational side of me thinks its probably reading way way into it!
Demileto: I had no idea either, but then generally it’s sort of my own assumptions at work there! Just as when I used to do online games, particularly player versus player combat, people would assume I was male, because that was usually the case for most players.
Well now we’ll all have to be careful of objectifying men so much 😛 and a little less talk of Neal’s arms and more of his personality charms !

ParticipantCan I just say that I’m gonna present this is a very equal matter so to speak.
We can all try to be objective, but our subjective points of view that predispose us to think a certain way never leaves us.
I don’t really want to be a shipper in the sense of losing my ability to be objective and logical, but it is a story and so much depends on interpretation and assumptions. So as you are a CS shipper, and suggesting that there is a certain “correct” way to view things, I can only say you come off as less objective to me as someone who leans SF yet acknowledges there may be ambiguity in the story, and many conflicting but entirely rational points of view as a deliberate choice on the part of the authors.
There are many scenes that show Emma and Neal’s thoughts and feelings about each other in the present, not just a reflection of their past. While the camera does at time cut to Hook, it does not always. We do not just see Hook’s point of view. We see Neal’s too. Emma’s point of view though is the one most subject to wildly different interpretations.
Just as there are those dismissive to the point of absurdity about Hook’s point of view saying he just wants some physical fling, there are those who do the same with Neal. That is hardly being “equal” or fair, and I think rather than waste my time writing out the SF view of all the various scenes presented this season that show a love story for Emma and Neal, not just an obstacle for Hook–I will just link to Screwball Ninja’s latest essay. .She is NOT a CS or SF shipper, is a logical writer, and is funny. She does ship Rumbelle hard, but you can tell she’s not biased to SF if you read through everything, but she is not biased to CS either.
If anyone genuinely wants to understand SF in a way that does not require you to read a lot of disparaging thoughts on Hook, I might try to write something up that avoids the comparison stuff that tends to get the “water” all choppy, but you can read through SN’s tumblr as she has a few essays on the subject that sum it up fairly well without picking a side.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would.
