ParticipantThat guy looks like a cross between the Quaker Oats Guy and a pirate.
I’d dub him Captain Crunch, except he cannot be a captain too. So just Crunch.

ParticipantIt’s funny how the tweet I embedded here is transformed since the actor had to delete it. Nothing is ever gone on the internet is it–odds are, that someone has a screen shot of the original. It is one thing to have an opinion as a fan, and express that to the writers/actors. It is another to wage a campaign to harass the writers/actors constantly this way, in an effort to get them to change the story to suit a rather skewed point of view of it. I hope these writers have the sense to realize that the loudness of a small group of fans doesn’t necessarily equate to the opinion of every fan. It’s just so riddled with holes to think everyone gets a second chance but Neal.

ParticipantWhat if Henry chooses to stay, and that means no more Henry?
(Imagine what that would do to all the main characters who have placed so much importance on him. Not that he dies, just that he becomes the new PP and is out of their lives).

ParticipantBeautiful song, so sweet all these little moments.
Phee, that is what I hope. These little moments give me hope they are still telling this story, but with all the obvious media attention on the Thing, and what that might mean, it would be nice to have some more fresh reveals of reasons to hope. I wish that we’d had a title reveal of Phoenix, but it is quite possible that some things they won’t go back to until 3.16, that is the anniversary of Manhattan.

ParticipantPan might try to manipulate, but right now he has told Henry that Neal is dead. Why would he need to drive a wedge? Of course he loves to use statements that are not entirely true like this (telling Emma that Henry has not forgiven her) so it is something he could do.
It would be great if it triggers flashbacks to show that Puppetmaster Pan was pulling strings. Someone told August where to find Neal and who he was, then told August to tell Neal he would be in the way of Emma breaking the curse. Then someone called the cops but we never saw who actually did.
I just do not see any of it happening in this episode though as the focus will be more on Hook I think.

ParticipantThat shadow is going to get even creepier. How is that possible? casting Marilyn Manson that’s how….. What I wonder is how this sets up the 2nd half.
I’m really hoping/theorizing that they wind up in Oz. I feel like there’s a connection between the “dream realm” and NL itself, and whatever story had to do with Philip’s soul and the wraiths, but I cannot really connect it to Oz other than that Dorothy when she wakes thinks Oz was just a dream in the movie.
Peter said he started dreaming things and they started to come true. What if some of the magic realms are dreamed into (or out of) existence by those in NL?

ParticipantThat’s interesting with the doll. Right now I’d lean to Grace being RQ’s niece. I’m not sure if that’s from a sister who married Jefferson, or he is her brother. Will knew of Jefferson being in SB and also from when he was in WL.
When do we think Will and Ana went to WL? Mal was up and running, but it was before Robin had a sick wife to cure. That might be why he ended up with a sick wife to cure. In any case, do we think they went to WL before Jefferson got stuck there?
I think that seems more plausible time-line wise, because when Jefferson talks to Regina about WL, it’s kind of obvious he has been there before.
At some point, Cora managed to get Henry Sr to WL too. We don’t know how that happened either.

I kind of think Snow and Charming would get why Neal left Emma, but it is an open question if that’s ever fully been explained to anyone on screen that the ONLY reason he left the way he did was because he HAD to due to the curse? I would enjoy a story where Snow tells Emma how she had to break Charming’s heart, so they can draw some parallels (the all-mighty-stock in trade of shippers everywhere), but more importantly get into what “terrible things” could have happened if Neal stayed.
I’m not sure if they’d do a kind of “it’s a wonderful life” trope but… there’s that news of Tinkerbell and a graveyard to sort out, along with Emma’s red jacket. .
So I feel like Emma can be with Hook all she chooses, but more important is for the audience to understand Neal and what might be appealing about him to Emma. To sway audiences to root for these two to reunite, if that’s what the writers want, they have to get the story out there that Neal never framed Emma. That he had more to lose walking away than she did.
People call him greedy, but he gave all the money and his car to her! So these things get forgotten.

ParticipantYes, RG, I’ll summarize it here. So besides being conditioned to “hate” Henry’s father for breaking her heart, Emma also made many comments on bad relationships in general. This sort of implied to some that all her relationships were bad in terms of the dynamics.
Then when we meet Neal with Emma, they chose to style him in a way that taps into a very negative cultural stereotype of a bad guy. He is dressed in street thug clothes, the tank top (what I’ve seen discussed as the “wife beater top”), the hoodie (“all criminals wear hoddies”! as Geraldo Rivera points out…). He looks very scruffy overall. Then it was a deliberate choice on the writers/directors to have him speak in the dialect he does, rather than in the more delicate way Bae does.
So even before we get to the ambiguity in the story designed to explain Emma’s reluctance to trust him, people are predisposed to tune out all signs that he isn’t a jerk and bad guy to her. Some people forget that our actual first impression of adult Neal is when we saw him lost and lonely in the first episode of that season, wearing a rather dapper 3pc suit, wandering around a decent part of NY and going home to an actual apartment, staring in confusion at a postcard that said “Broken”. So that bit of information got disconnected and dismissed for some in forming their first impression of him, because to them, his first appearance was in the episode where Emma thinks he screwed her over.
This is particularly true for those who use Tumblr/Twitter, because exchanging interpretations about the show, rather than going back to the actual show, sort of can have that “telephone /rumor effect”. Have you ever played that children’s game where one person whispers to the next, and by the time it comes out the other side of the chain of people, the words are not even close to the original ? On Tumblr, there are gifsets made where people sometimes change the dialog around for various scenes, leaving out key pieces of a sentence and the like. This isn’t something I’m saying is some sort of deliberate thing against only Neal, because I’ve seen people who are PRO-Neal, thinking he was with Tamara for many years. That’s impossible as we know he met her right before August came to SB, which in the timeline wasn’t barely a full year in SB time. The fact is, the story is complicated, told in fits and starts, and even people that want to like Neal because he is Bae, get confused.
Then I’ve seen spillover from Neal to Bae, as well, with people now blaming a 14 year old Bae for being angry with Rumple and Hook, dismissing Bae’s concerns as “teenage rebellion” or even the other way, that he should have grown up fast and had an adult’s emotional maturity at those points to see how much his rejection would hurt these men who only wanted to care for him. The fact that Bae was at heart a moral kid, who objected to their methods of showing “care” and had actual reasons to be wary and distrustful are not as often mentioned, unless counter-opinions are presented like on these types of forums. Tumblr/twitter though do not lend themselves to that kind of conversation. If anything, Tumblr gives you the ability from what I understand to simply block out any contrary type views (and obviously, one can always self-select to do that, unless you’re like RG and having to moderate and read it all!).
Finally, we have to factor in, that Bae /Neal actually has done things that hurt others. Not all of it was intentional (especially to the extent people transfer any hate about Tamara to Neal). He hasn’t been a total sweetheart, never hurting a fly. Not that it would matter, because, there is Henry-hate, Belle hate too. Yet the way people discuss what his actions say about his character, there is a continued suggestion that he is “just like his father” without recognition of some very real differences between the two, as well as comparisons to Milah, in terms of negative things–usually without recognition that he actually has and displays various positive traits from them as well.
