ParticipantOpera13: well it was supposed to be unhappy endings you know, what a cruel fate for a cynical guy to be shoved in front of the fluffiest of fluff.
I am curious though whether he’s a heartbreaker sort of guy because his heart was broken, or because of that he now has the depth to apologize for his previous treatment of the ladies like Silvermist who just happened to fall for his charm? If it is Anastasia as in Cinderlla’s sister, what if it is the false relationship given to him by the curse that is troubling him?
I think they’d get into that more on ONCE original, but I am sort of fascinated about the people who were cursed. It plays into Grace/Paige if they ever return to her and Hatter. If you had this whole other life, and you felt it was real and you formed a bond with someone –what happens when you wake from the dream, yet still have these feelings? Do you throw it away, does it break your heart? With Katherine and David they both had someone else out there, that pulled them apart, but what if that was not the case? If you were otherwise unattached, well, we saw that Victor really had his eye on Ruby during the curse, and the writers /actors have suggested they were planning to explore it but contracts and new plot lines and all that happened. That could have gotten into the theme as well.
I don’t know though, because WL is more centered around WL and the curse and the people there seems to belong to the parent show more. I just wonder how they’ll get into Knave’s story to move around his curse experience.

ParticipantSo I wrote this in another thread on fairies, but in the Disney Fairies lore such as it is for that franchise, the fairies are under a Queen Ree. The fairies date, and there’s some obvious crushes and mention of the Queen once having been in love with the King of Winter Fairies and things like that. So maybe it would be fun if there are actually different versions of fairies in the mash-up that is WL reflecting the idea of mash-ups, derivations and fan reinventions itself as a concept. So maybe Silvermist has nothing to do with Blue’s brand of sneaky fairy.

ParticipantDisney fairies lore (as opposed to original PP or the original PP Disney movie) is this let’s make money marketing to little girls franchise. The chapter books by Gail Carson Levine (Ella Enchanted) aren’t bad, but the movies are definitely more in the cute advertisements for toys variety than artistic vision/creative imagination variety. So I don’t know how entirely well-thought out it is, but the fairies date and have boyfriends (“Sparrowmen”). Tink’s best friend is Terrence who has an obvious crush on her, and Rosetta has references to having broken up with one guy, and forming a crush on another. The Secret of the Wings featured a whole ban on crossing fairy territory based in part on a tragic love story of the Queen of the Fairies.
So I don’t know, maybe they’ll tackle the idea of multiple versions of stories/characters that are inconsistent with each other in Wonderland, because, well, it’s Wonderland and anything is possible there. I think it would be an interesting idea to wink at the idea of the mash-up of the ONCEiverse itself.
So I would like it if Silvermist and her brand of WL fairies actually are NOT under the sneaky blue thumb of BF.

ParticipantVery crack pot, I could not even directly claim any conclusion even on a ship thread! I just noticed where they posed her, that is all. 🙂

Just thought I’d put that out there with the Chess game idea.

ParticipantI agree with what Phee wrote. A few decades ago it might have been a stir to see interracial couples, but no one I saw commented on that in a negative way about the ones we’ve seen on the show. Any negatives about Tamara were purely she’s a zealot, illogical-taser-toting, evil cheater, lying liar who lies and kills and steals little boys! Thankfully that intolerance has been changed slowly in part because of shows/stories that helped people to see an example and fall in love alongside people. So sometimes it takes a story to trigger people’s compassion and desire to understand.

ParticipantI think it is odd that someone asked Adam and he did not consider what he was saying.

So this picture of the cast messing around, seems to have some clues in it, like Charming clutching an arrow as if he’s dying. Neal is holding up that coconut.
Notice how awkwardly they posed Tink. She has one arm on Emma and one on Neal. She is not main cast, and so far, we have not seen her interact with Neal. Yet what we do know of Tink is that she has that pixie dust that shows you your soul mate. We don’t know how that works, because they say you can love again, but only one at a time. Does it show you who currently is, or who might be, or who would be if you would chose that person? It seems like the pose implies some connection through Tink between Emma and Neal. It’s just such an awkward way to have her in the group, crouching like that with her arms tapping to those two that way.

ParticipantI feel the RQ has smaller ambition so she wants to bring back someone from the dead. In keeping with the Chess theme, you can bring back any piece if a pawn reaches the other side –it is not just promoting to a Queen. Jafar wants to restart the game.

ParticipantInteresting idea, it could work. Might explain the Red Queen’s spoiled little girl personality vibe.
I think Silvermist is just one in a long line of ladies the Knave has been a knave too.

ParticipantLikes:
Jafar.
Red Queen talking to Bunny. That’s the only time I really feel her menace. She still comes off like a little girl playing dress up to me, but at least at the end when she kept the bottle, she sort of showed some bite.
Alice and Cyrus ‘s paper bird, falling in love scenes.
Dislike:
The Silvermist fairy. I didn’t like the whole jealous fairy gets angry at the Knave because they used a namecheck for a Disney Fairy that I felt was not a good fit for the character in an “echo the original” sort of way. Now these Disney canon characters aren’t as well known as the classic Peter Pan story characters, so a lot of people probably just felt it’s a random generic fairy sort of name. I felt they did try to make her look like a water fairy with the dew drops on the lashes and things. It’s just they didn’t get enough of the character’s flavor for me.
Disney Fairies Wiki:
Silvermist (also known as “Sil” to her friends) is a water-talent fairy with an East Asian appearance with fair skin, brown eyes, and black hair. She is delightfully offbeat and has an upbeat way of looking at everything.
The personality traits listed are friendly, calm, absentminded, quiet, gentle, silly
I mean I suppose those traits might fit with her getting involved with the Knave, then him hurting her emotionally to the point she’d drop him in a lake knowing he couldn’t swim, because it is ONCE:WL and the characters do things they’d never do in their original versions. I just think they could have picked a different character to make more sense personality wise.
I agree also that the episode fell flat in some ways for me. I want to like this show, and I’ll hang out some hope that Jafar has an interesting agenda.
