I think if ABC is marketing with synergy they will wink wink about Pirate Fairy.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2483260/  (Tom Hiddleston aka Loki is voicing Hook!)

I do not expect more than flirtation like what Hook had with Cora, but with less dislike underneath, more seductive but not serious, less purposeful maybe?  Like the kind of flirting you might do with a bouncer to get into a club….she was a party girl and he is a guy who appreciates the ladies.

In Disney Fairies the fairy sprouts like a dwarf does, fully grown and an adult from a baby’s first laugh.  So it would work for inverse Tinkermomma–Belle as laugh-momma to TB 😛

Well someone should get the Queen a knife so she can shiv herself some PP.  😛 Just kidding, I do not want Regina doing bad things.  She has to conquer that Dark Heart.

I also want more on the Ogres War…I feel like we had Morraine talking about how children in the trenches talked about BF.  Maybe the whole war was a “phantom menace” (to ignore the Jar Jar problems of the Star Wars 1-3 and focus on what was actually a cool plot), designed to make children believe in the BF, to need to believe in magic to save them? I don’t know if that’s where they are going with it, but I feel like they HAVE to open things up this season if they are redeeming all their main cast villains.  They need to have threats and challenges for the group, so it cannot be they all just kiss, make-up and hug and are one big happy family at the end of this season.

So they need to start planting seeds of what threat exists beyond PP.  I feel they might be setting up another adventure, with the way they talked about two separate halves to the season.   One thing the writers probably realized is how complete Season 1 felt, with a clear villain, a clear goal and end-point.  Emma, heroine, Regina, villain, goal: Break the curse.   Then Season 2 was all over the map (literally).   We had new heroes, new villains, and while for some that breathed new life, others felt it was too scattered.  This time we have a new goal #Save henry, a new clear big bad, PP, and we’re rooting for and spending the most time with in terms of character driven stories of our main cast.  Yet they still need to have a PLOT and move it along with action and adventure.

What if they can’t #Save Henry, we’re all assuming they do, but what if the ending is that he’s too far gone (solving the problem of a rapidly growing child actor, perhaps?).  I don’t know if I would like that.  Very depressing way to end the season, but revealing the BF as the puppet master NOW? I feel that’s something they could only do when they have no more need of her plot-devicey ways.  That has to be something they wouldn’t do until the very last season.  So they could get into the Ogres War, and the Duke, and revisit the Dark One mythology and introduce some new characters and threats.

Well it is PP, so it goes back to how he bends the truth to weaken people because it is more of his psychological tactics.  He doesn’t start with straight up lies, but picks at the things that these characters maybe are already doubting about themselves.  Rumple’ and Emma’s abandonment issues,  Henry’s worries about the darkness inherent in magic.  Henry was trying to blow up the well to destroy magic just a week or so ago.    Does Henry undoing the Dark One happen because Henry must believe that he can? Is this part of Peter Pan’s game?

Thanks for the link, as I loved listening last year to Jane and Barbara talk about Miller’s Daughter I think it was.

That’s not mutually exclusive really.   Regina seemed to think she could teach Henry magic, when she made the giant cupcake.

Hm instead of cookies we should pass out giant cupcakes.

    *Giant Cupcakes*.

Great thoughts, Tabsicle and MysteryKat.  I am very eager to see more of the “Genus: Fairies” on this show, but even more generally, I am very curious about ALL the not-entirely-human mythological creatures such as Giants, Dwarfs, Trolls, Ogres, were-wolves, the Dragon, and of course, mermaids (especially a certain one).  How do these creatures /people come into being?  We saw the rather creepy egg factory for the fairy slave labor of choice, Dwarfs (a description ScrewballNinja put fort in her essay on the Blue Fairy, shady lady.  http://screwballninja.tumblr.com/post/56912789726/the-blue-fairy-one-shady-lady-an-essay-in-6).

I’m inserting the picture she inserted here because it is worth a 1000 words on the creepy factor here.

I am hoping with fairies that they do go with the “laugh” theory in Peter Pan, and that it is a sign of particular special magical people who can create fairies.  Yet if the fairy doesn’t live up to standards, it is in some ways like what happened to August, but instead of turning to wood, they just become merely human.  So of course, I am hoping Belle is tied to TinkerBell in that way by having “laughed” her into being full-size at Belle’s birth.

Whatever origin they pick for fairies, it seemed as if TB was “in training” the way that Nova had been, therefore was younger than being centuries old perhaps.  I forgot who, but someone once suggested fairies literally are tied to stars and are much like them in the sky.  I’m not sure that’s where they are going with the fairies but it is interesting.

I agree that there does seem to be a rank order, and clearly Blue is the top dog among the fairies.  I think you are right MysteryKat that it is not enough for just anyone to believe in the fairies, but not sure it HAS to be Blue.  Maybe Henry’s belief will be enough, but certainly Snow’s was not.  It maybe was enough to do some little thing though, we just do not know yet.

I am not sure that fairies can love in normal circumstances, but Nova/Astrid turning down Leroy/Grumpy was not really canon so we do not know for sure.  I am very curious to learn more about that, as well as what makes fairy dust and what makes it into pixie dust, and yes, is this a resource that is diminishing in general as PP alludes to needing to restore magic to all the realms.

I feel that they completely left out “sidekick” characters such as the fairies from the Aurora story (but if so, Merryweather would be Blue, and she was my favorite sidekick.).  I hope Blue is good but just misunderstood (and that does fit into Merryweather a bit, yet she seems more young and impulsive versus Flora and Fauna).  The size changing happens in Pinocchio too, which is obviously their starting point on fairies.

They also have not addressed “Dark fairies” such as the one who gave Snow her special dust.  Maleficent is supposed to be a dark fairy in the original Sleeping Beauty tale too.  Do fairies who go bad and corrupt their hearts become witches?  I had also hoped for Maleficent is Tink, but that is debunked completely now.

Finally last random rambling thought: I noticed the shape of the fairy wings were different too between Tink and Blue, almost like different insects.

I forgot about that tale, is that the one with the horn to summon help but blowing it sort of destroys your ears….eep!  It has been forever since I read that.
