ParticipantI found the whole panel online and it was very consistent with what I already thought.
About the kiss, I think it is more likely a flashback sequence than present day, but NL does mess with people’s heads so who knows. Hook may be working overtime but J.Mo said it was complicated. I felt like Eddy changed the subject to Regina rather quickly too. I see only good things in having Neal needing to win Emma over, because that gives the audience a chance to see him being brave, patient, kind and see what tugs at Emma’s heart about him. Meanwhile, it gives Hook time to clear his head and realize there are other fish in the sea more suited to and interested in him, without it playing out like he’s giving up as opposed to better understanding himself and what he really wants to be.

ParticipantIt’s not a real curse at all as there’s only 2 examples to go on.
I am sure that Adam & Eddy like MRJ and Neal and have interesting storylines for him, but the little Bae part is a story they are running out of time to tell with how quickly Dylan has grown.

ParticipantThe actors have to be so careful, and I think if MRJ was cleared to say from his perspective Emma is his one-true-love, then we are pretty safe in thinking he is not getting paired with anyone else, but of course, they don’t have J.Mo saying the same thing so there’s the optical illusion again.
We know there’s “feelings” from Hook, true-love from Neal and “love for Neal but she thinks he is dead” on Emma’s part. The door is open for CS, and always there is the possibility that the writers might do something to Neal, kill him or make him the next Dark One or something. Every time Phee talks about 307, especially with Daniel theorizing someone is going to die, I cringe. I don’t want to turn into chicken little but I really hope Neal gets to NL sooner and that 307 is about TinkerBell so that she’s the one that gets the axe. I like her from the clip and all, but of our new characters, I feel she’s the most dispensable in some ways. What if as part of a pan-style mind game, Pan offers Hook or Regina that “next-love-detector” pixie dust–but only if they leave Henry and stop helping Emma?
Hm that ought to be on another thread but not sure where to ask that question.

ParticipantMRJ apparently stopped by the acting school in Vancouver–he is one of the “craft” type actors who take it seriously (as do a lot of the cast). His tendency to say “I” is kind of funny when speaking about his character. That suggests he is a bit of a method actor, who are notorious for not dropping character at all.
I know MRJ has worked with dialect coaches to master a cajun accent for a role before. I think he does put a lot of thought into trying to make Neal seem like a real guy who grew on the streets since 14, but has these repressed memories of this other fantastical life. Some people who immigrate assimilate completely, others retain a lot of their culture/accent. I think for Bae’s situation, he wanted to vanish and not be found so it makes perfect sense he tried to blend in and scrubbed away his enchanted past. I’ve seen people comment on how different Bae and Neal are, but I feel that’s a deliberate choice on the part of the directors and actor to reflect what this character has gone through.
At the same time, now that Neal is in the Enchanted Forrest again, I love seeing the actor bring a bit more of the fantasy element to his portrayal of Baelfire. The whole ninja move with the staff was awesome! I definitely want to see Neal bringing something to our little FairyTale Avenger team. I’m not sure what skills he has to offer, but he also spent a lot of time on that island and it is time we learned how he escaped (and resolve T-Word headaches about when that was!).
I have a feeling the writers will not make it easy for Neal to get to NL though.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. ParticipantThey should do it on flying magic bikes. I would crack up. (ET nod…)

ParticipantBaelfire means bonfire doesn’t it? Forget the lighters, I’m making bonfires (but I am not going to cut my shadow off after I do!).

ParticipantI wonder if the design of the prop is a Vancouver film industry in-joke. On Stargate, the Jaffa serpent guards wore cobra-shaped helmets with glowing red eyes.
The animated version is the same.

ParticipantI don’t feel the writers “have” to do anything but tell a good story and we all have different ideas of what that means. I’m sure Hook’s backstory is going to be everything needed to keep Hookers happy, by showing new layers and depth. I also think they’re going to continue to give us reasons to root for Neal to get back to Emma. Beyond that, I hesitate to make big predictions right now about what will happen when he does.
I still am rooting for Neal and Emma to work it out. The writers placed clues that Emma loves Neal in things like Emma keeping the yellow car, something so symbolically Emma that it was part of her brief OUAT:WL stunt double cameo. A sheriff’s car might have established the timeline better. Then they gave Emma Bae’s sword.
The writers are not preparing the audience to think as badly of Hook or Neal as some fans do so I am not sure what they have in mind. Maybe Hook or Neal have to go through heartbreak at Emma’s hands in order to come to grips with what happened in the past. Maybe it helps Neal or Hook understand how Rumple could have killed Milah, what type of despair drives a person to that. NL is all about facing the past, so as these characters get through this story arc I do expect a lot of changes in what I think will make them happy, but I do think the writers will want them to be on the road to that happiness.
Edit : Yes, 100% agree with Heather and Phee — Neal is not just a flat cardboard obstacles in the way of a ship (for that, see Tamara).

ParticipantI will have to rethink RQ, interesting insight Phee.
