I don’t know we know enough just yet to make conclusions about how a magical entity behaves.  It could be a separate conscious entity or it could be a construct that Peter controls, it could even be similar to Ruby’s wolf transformation.  Perhaps every time Peter does it, he loses more of his hope, and belief in magic, but is unaware he is paying that price.  It could be quite ironic that the very ability that is the core of his powers might be slowly consuming all the magic everywhere.

It puts me in mind of another Peter who struggled with a shadowy costume/entity, Peter Parker.     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom_%28comics%29

I do think Peter is in charge.  That was what Felix meant, that Peter is in charge and determined and so far in Felix’s evil lackey opinion, the boss always gets what he wants, eventually.

I agree with Phee, at most I expect a small genuine smile that he’s there, he’s alive and boom, an attack or something.

We shippers ache to see the happy moments, but the writers get the big grins for the situations that torture the characters.  That is what makes them smile and laugh, knowing that those situations create the conflict with uncertainty that will drive viewers to tune  in.

I do think they are invested in all the characters they create, but in many ways, they are Peter Pan playing games with their audience.  Peter Pan’s comments could easily be a writer reacting to fandom reacting to plot decisions and characters.  “It is much easier to make people hate than believe.”    Most certainly that applies to shipping.

So I do worry, are these guys going to react to the constant negative comments from a small part of the fanbase that is well represented on twitter and tumblr? When I see reviews from less internet based, more general audience sources like grandmotherly Barbara Barnett, the audience is rooting for Neal and Emma.  It is only here online that I ever got the sense that people thought the story was the other way around, that we were supposed to root for her to break his heart, in even more spectacular fashion than he broke hers, and for far less noble a reason than “I needed to get out of the way of a curse.”  He did take up with Tamara, but she’s had moments with Graham, August and to some extent Hook.   I can’t see Emma faulting him as much as the fanbase does for getting involved with someone else, but then I wasnt’ quite expecting her to take David and MM to task that much.

I felt though her issue wasn’t “you left me and I can’t trust you,” but it really was more what she said, the fact they left her was incidental to it, but she is the same age, she has had different experience, and they were not respecting her wisdom.  They were insisting they knew more and better and Emma is not a follower.  She doesn’t know or feel comfortable claiming herself a leader ( and I think this is where next week episode will go with parallels between Snowing arguing about claiming the kingdom or living on a small farm together ).    So with Neal the same thing applies, that he has missed a huge part of her life as an adult, and she of his, and are these two people who are in the same space in their lives for that rekindled love to blossom to full true love? I feel that’s a question the writers are posing, and exploring, and some fans shout resoundingly “Noooo!” and we here on this thread are saying “ooh, I hope so.”

If he enters her life expecting to pick up exactly where they left off, I can see Emma bristling at that.  Of course, with all the other characters in the mix, I don’t see how they could even for one second feel it was “them against the world again”–for both of them, there are too many people who matter now.  So they would have to find a different rhythm but I hope they will.  We just have to wait for more!

I agree PoM, but I do see bits of a “Long Con” being implied by PP’s search for Henry centuries before birth.

Yet they could pull the curtain back to reveal another big villain behind PP, and lead into Oz.

He looks upset or still “done with you fools “?  I have to watch, but I thought he was supposed to show the cruelty of Pan’s minions.  Maybe seeing the rip reminds him of it happening to a friend who dared to question peter.

I wonder if the shadow can only rip men’s shadows?

bugPutting goggles on, wow! I would never have thought of that! Bael Bonds Person = person bonded to Bae.  Oh shipper silly goodness!

We know some entertainment journalists are a little more careful and precise than others, so maybe that is what’s going on.

I think though, you could say Rumple played a “Peter Pan” role cutting off Hook’s hand. Yet he wasn’t Peter Pan. Bae played a “Peter Pan” role slipping in through Wendy’s window. A&E grinned like anything talking about how much they loved the iconic scene, and that was before the full reveal that Bae wasn’t Peter Pan and they were still playing that up knowing a lot of fans thought he was.

So with Ursula being Regina I am still on the magic squid krakken is Ursula, but Regina is the one who makes a deal with Ariel train. So that way, Regina is NOT Ursula, and Ursula is a different character, yet in that “plays the role of” way, she kind of IS Ursula.

Sweetgrass: Well he’d have the sea in his blood for sure that way! Hook does say to young Bae that bit about the sea in your blood. It works as a common sailor expression, a nod to Milah or it could tip off quite directly that Hook has the Sea in his as part a merman. I don’t know as anything could happen when magic is involved.

Phee I like the idea that there’s this horrible tragedy at work. I think it is hinted that’s the case in the Disney Cannon because Ursula implies she had something to do with setting the pirates up to be where they were. At least she implies in the musical version she was involved with Ariel’s mothers death. The pirates were added later when they made the prequel.

I can’t look at the picture because it has the creepy puppet parents. (Shivering).

MysteryKat: I think that’s an excellent point about Regina being the least included in the group. I felt that in 3.01 when she is the last to follow after Emma’s “I don’t want or expect that” about friendship, that Regina is feeling completely alone.

She’s used to being alone in many ways, until Henry came into her life. Yet I don’t think it is what she wants.

The way she walks with her head looking down, the last to follow in line I felt sort of was very rueful. Regina knows why they don’t trust her, and she doesn’t really expect anything different but deeeeeeep down, she doesn’t just resent it, it makes her sad. She wants to be loved but what she hasn’t realized is, she has to trust them too.

So I think her journey of “believe a mother’s love is stronger than her dark heart” is in learning to trust other people to do things, and not herself. She wants to be the Queen, to be in charge and give the orders and she is going to have to learn to actually NOT do that because her impetuous way often makes a bad situation worse.

I like the idea of the “frenemies” thing, that Pan toyed with Hook over the years but I feel the spoiler hints at a deeper relationship of some sort.

How is it that Hook ended up in Rumple’s town, was it an accident? Or did Pan put it in motion too? Do you think Hook was in NL prior to arriving in Rumple’s town that night he met Milah?

How far does the tricky web that Pan weaves go?
