ParticipantIt is just a point of logic and reasoning–how do you prove a negative, how do you prove a rule if there can be exceptions–it’s just difficult to do as a matter of logic in a show about magic. So we can look at examples and guess–but the writers can always say “Yeah, you can’t use magic to make someone love you but….surprise, you can steal a heart to make someone THINK they love you!”.
Plus there’s the Adam and Eddy unshameful trolls who fudge their own rules factor: About Greg lying to Emma they said something like– “Oh it wasn’t a lie, because he really expected to see magic.” Ok, fine he knew there was a town, where weird stuff happened, but to see a pirate on his windshield and a man using a fireball…? Streeeeeetch to say Greg expected it. I think it was one of the podcasts.

ParticipantWhat about Aurora? She seemed pretty sure Phil was gone forever. We just saw the TLK so no estrangement or rejection. She didn’t seem to think otherwise until Cora told her. I loved that Aurora moment, because she showed real character rejecting Cora despite how badly she wanted to know that information, but she knew Cora for what she was. Eeeeeviiiillll.
edit:Here is the dialog, from Broken and Into the deep.
Mulan told Aurora that Phillip would die if the wraith took him.
Mulan: He never had to. Everything he does, he does for you. And now, he’s going to die for you. Love is sacrifice. Something you clearly don’t understand.
Aurora tells Cora no–
Cora: And what stakes do you have in their cause, Princess? It’s not as though you’d travel back with them. Oh… What a sweet, misguided notion. Did you really think you could have a life there? Find another prince? You’ve forgotten Phillip already.
Aurora: Phillip is in my heart every moment of every day. If there was anything I could do to bring him back, I would.
Cora: Is that so? What if I told you that when a wraith consumes a soul, it merely travels to another realm? But that soul could be brought back to this world? Show me a little courtesy, and I may explain how.
(Aurora kicks the tray of food at Cora.)
Cora: Oh! You stupid, ungrateful girl!
Aurora: I’m not as stupid as you think, nor my loyalty so easily bought. You can bring me a hundred meals, and make me a hundred promises, but I will never help you!
(Cora magically throws Aurora against the wall, knocking her out.)

ParticipantThat is true, Watcher. I kind of had a feeling that they attacked the ship on purpose, because that didn’t happen the previous time we saw Hook’s ship, nor was there some hint it COULD happen. All that Hook said was if you sink in the water the curse might hit you.
I think maybe Pan played a game on Hook to get him to attack the mermaids who will sub in for the “native” tribe part of the story, being the natural inhabitants of NL. Creatures of pure magic and imagination, like a fairy, they aren’t “born” so much as invented. I think Ariel is not the same type.

ParticipantI think they may have been allies, against Rumple?
Now for my finest crack attempts to amuse:
Rumple was the teen baby dad to Hook who left at 17 along with Felix for NL with Pan. Hook’s mom was TB who was a FGM in training and BF was NOT amused. TB escaped to NL, and Hook was found by pirates like the huntsman was found by wolves. Rumple never found out why but the fairies seemed to hate him after that so long before he was the dark one he hated fairies.
Not weird enough?
Hook’s dad and Belle’s mom ARE the same person, in a nod to the 1928 Virginia Wolfe classic, Orlando about a person told to stay forever young by Queen Elizabeth who does exactly that and along the way wakes up the opposite gender and also Toodles. .
In “Peter Pan in Scarlet“, he turns into a girl because he only has daughters to borrow clothes from, and spends most of the book playing princess and dreaming about marrying Peter Pan. His character is largely minimized in the animated Disney version, as he has no lines of dialogue; he wears a skunk suit in this film.

ParticipantWell it is not wet paint, but I’m not as familiar with this site, whether they’re speculating because they know Belle has a scene with Rumple.
This is what drives me crazy–there are actual spoilers, the facts of what will happen and then there’s all the speculation that we predict THIS because we KNOW this. Sometimes it seems so obvious you just go from one to the other but sometimes those “pesky details” make all the difference.

ParticipantI do not think we will see Wendy and Peter in a romantic relationship but that is a popular spin for off-shoots of Peter Pan. In the original it is very obvious Wendy sort of has a crush, as perhaps her mother before her did, and that he continues to come to her line through granddaughters to find a mother for his boys.
Maybe there’s something almost Oedipal in that, but Peter was looking for a mother, not a girlfriend, and he didn’t want to be touched or kiss, or to grow up be a man and get married.
What this incarnation wants, now there’s the puzzle. The way Wendy reacted upon returning home, I did not get the feeling she enjoyed NL in the least, but maybe she was sneakyWendy setting up Bae so she could please Peter.
I am so curious what we will learn and see with her again.

ParticipantThe reason I think it would be Belle, is yes, Neal heard about her in Miller’s daughter phonecall.
Her story obviously mentions his castle as he needed a maid and she had to come live there, no way to avoid showing it right?

ParticipantI also think he read about it in the book, but obviously it doesn’t figure in his own story of Peasant Rumple becomes the Dark One. Nor would it be in “Rumplestilskin” and the Miller’s Daughter unless mentioned in passing.
I think it would feature in Belle’s story and he probably figured the beast was his father.

ParticipantI had very similiar thoughts awhile back, on one of our spoiler threads. I also did MMORPGS, specifically WOW. I thought Emma was like a paladin, which is a hybrid healer fighter.
This is the call of the paladin: to protect the weak, to bring justice to the unjust, and to vanquish evil from the darkest corners of the world. These holy warriors are equipped with plate armor so they can confront the toughest of foes, and the blessing of the Light allows them to heal wounds and, in some cases, even restore life to the dead.
Well that does sound a bit like the Savior I think!
