ParticipantDon’t forget to spoiler bracket! Much as I adore spoilers there are folks who don’t and character threads are not in the spoiler section.
But about what you say:
Hook isn’t stopping Charming, he’s telling him wait I will get a rope. Then we see a rope around Charming. This is good. It shows him doing an action that will earn some trust from Charming. The writers want to give Charming the moment to shine as the hero too as a father. Hook not diving in doesn’t tell us anything bad about him.

ParticipantI think Rum too, which is the stereotypical pirate drink, already referenced once in the show by Hook, and a very tropical drink actually. Its a staple export for islands in the Caribbean, like Jamaica or the Bahamas. Ah to be on a tropical island….but I could do without the murderous mermaids and scary shadows and all that of course.

ParticipantSo I have a theory on the synopsis not mentioning Phillip and Aurora. It is too ship biased so I brought it here. I think it is like at comic con where despite many fan questions and limited time, the moderator took the time to ask about Mulan and Neal having a romance.
These blurbs for the episodes are done by the same promotion team that is doing everything else, and part of that of course, is all the suggestions that Hook and Emma spend time together. The flip side of the hints is to say Neal and Mulan will also be spending time. Yet we already know from CC, that it isn’t romantic for Neal and Mulan.
It’s all this twisty marketing they do. So a lot of people will be going into this thinking Neal= Shang and he’ll end up with Mulan, and then the plot will actually unfold and it will be like she’s helping him the same way she helped Belle once. She’ll remind him that he has to fight for love, or something like that. I’m not sure where Phil and Aurora are, but it doesn’t matter, because Mulan’s help is symbolic here, of Neal getting his fighting spirit back.
Anyway its a bit muddled up and shippy, so I thought I’d toss it up here for discussion.

ParticipantLet’s face it, there are plenty of OTHER fans who will ask him about Captain Swan, and we know he cannot spoil, and none of them are going to make the mistake of doing anything but saying any ship is fine again–they all realize the wrath of shippers scorned! I hope he gets at least one question about his experience as an actor playing the character itself like, just off the top of my head:
Was it odd wearing the hospital gown instead of the leather to get in character for the jello scene?
Does he find the green screen or outdoor sets (especially the ship on open water) more fun?
Does he listen to any music to get ready?
What does he miss most about working with Barbara Hershey?
Like the other actors, I’m sure he’ll be really gracious and funny, and not really answer anything we can piece into a spoiler!

ParticipantI think Rumple uses the confusion of Emma in the water to go ahead alone. I think it is a mix of you people would slow me down/you are safer nowhere near me as I do what I need to do.

ParticipantYes, it does look like that guess that Emma went in and Charming saves her is right. Go DaddyCharming! I’m not sure if she gets knocked by anything, but it is pretty easy to lose your footing when you choose to stand under the boom of the sail (very bad spot). She probably loses her grip because it seemed pretty bumpy going through the portal.
I think the key to the chest might be where Hook kept the sword he is giving her. I”m not sure about the outfit, as it doesn’t look overly piratey or like what Milah wore. I think it might just be what she had on underneath her coat. There’s possibly a time lapse while her clothes dried.
I picture it like this–episode starts, and she goes in. Charming rescues her. She’s passed out and dripping on deck, but they can’t deal as they are under attack. Other stuff happens (I have no idea) and then later on, Hook comes to check on Emma. She is exercising and doing the pullups like we saw in the promo.
When she says she’s getting ready for a fight, he pulls out a key then opens a chest and gets out the sword and gives it to her while telling her about how it was Bae’s sword. That leads to a somber conversation for them, and sharing a drink to the dead or something like a pirate tradition. (Looks like he is handing her a tiny shot glass in one scene).

ParticipantLet’s not forget, Emma does know that Hook and Neal know each other, though not details. She also knows that when she said Neal, he replied with Baelfire.
So I think he’d be hard put not to talk about how he knew her ex. Either she is going to ask, or he is going to seek her out. I think the latter. The part Emma does not know is Milah’s connection to Neal and to Henry.

ParticipantYou do if you know its the kind of thing that could potentially put someone off a relationship and they might get upset that it was a lie by omission kind of thing, that you did not tell them earlier.

ParticipantIt does not seem like something you would want to hide either unless you had less than truly honorable intentions in the relationship.

ParticipantI think like a mix of Jo’s posts and PoM. It’s not really about where, but who, yet in the end, they all do have preferences.
I mostly agree with RG’s breakdown except for Emma. I’m not sure Emma wants to go back to FTL. Henry’s fascinated with it, and I think her reaction to him was not sharing his sense of wonder about it, but more like, kid wherever you are, but seriously? There?. I think deep down, Emma wants to be with her family, and right now that means Snow, Charming and Henry so its more that she’s outnumbered on the where to live question. If it were up to her and only her, she’d be happy with a peaceful Storybrook, safe from the outside world, but without any melodrama on the magical members of the town. She understands that Snow and Charming don’t “get” modern life like she does, and she wouldn’t want to see them unhappy. Yet the idea she could get out of town if she needed, that the safety valve is there should she want it (even if she never uses it), I feel like that would be something she’d want. I guess I don’t see her as the kind of kid who dreamed about living in a fairytale world, but rather, dreamed of the very simple things of a good life in this one. Just a much less lonely one.
I love that quote of JMO’s about how if season one is about who they were “Once”, and season 2 was how they are “both”, and then this season will show who they are “truly”. Maybe Emma does embrace her role as the savior, and her identity as a fairytale character who belongs in FTL. I feel like so far though, that’s not a real reflection of who she wants to be anymore than Regina wants to be the Evil Queen anymore.
