ParticipantI think this needs to be said: it’s ok if people have different opinions on things. I’m a bit of a multi-shipper, but have backed off posting in this thread because there’s such a difference in how I see the underlying characters and their emotions.
That ought to be ok, but when you visit another thread and then come back to react in a sort of “us” versus “them” way about it, it’s kind of off-putting.
I wrote that post about crossing lines, and to me, it was about Hook’s character and desire to honor his relationship with Milah, and affection he might have for her son, despite the sad way things ended between them. Its ok if you think of it completely differently, that is why I didn’t express those thoughts on the CS thread.
It’s just the way you wrote about visiting the thread, as well as your reaction to the existences of a Hookriel thread, Captain Eala, that troubles me a little. Around these forums, its generally a ship and let ship kind of thing, not a “we’re right and they’re wrong” all out war. I’d like it to stay that way, and if you ever disagree with the reasoning of my posts, I’m up for a conversation. I warn you though–it can turn into novella length discussions as it has with MysteryKat. She still loves CS more, and I still lean SF more right now–but everyone is basing our opinions only on the first 2 seasons of the show.
I’m more than ready to revise what I think about the ships themselves based on new episodes and reveals on the characters. We poke holes in speculation on non-ship all the time and for me, it is ok if a shippy theory gets poked a little. If you don’t feel comfortable on a different ship thread though, to state your view, fair enough. Just be aware my oppinion is MY opinion, not the view of a “Ship” and it is ok if you disagree, whole or in part.

ParticipantIt is not “stealing”, so much as it is about crossing emotional lines. Hook has a relationship with Neal, and even though Emma doesn’t know that yet, Hook knows it. And though they both are unaware that Neal is alive, we know and the writers know it.
Adam tweeted the DVD deleted scenes should be canon–which means, Hook knows Neal might have dumped Tamara for Emma. He also likely knew Tamara didn’t love Neal, and that Tamara and Greg were a thing.
Hook of course is a pirate, and pirates don’t balk at crossing lines. Yet he is a pirate who wants to change. So we’ll have to see how it plays out, and I think it will be very different than a lot of fans are speculating, just as last year after Paley Fest things turned out 180 different than a lot of fans speculated.

ParticipantI forgot also, the liberties taken with Belle and Beast! Oh-my-Gold, is this a different story! I think therefore, the hoopla about TLM is not going to limit them to a straight retelling of that story, anymore than they are worried about Tink’s portrayal corrupting the Disney Fairies franchise in some way. Ultimately, OUAT is not for kids, and they have free reign for their vision more or less.
I may not like the idea of Ariel and Eric being Hook’s parents, but I can’t say that the only reason to like it is because of a ship. People didn’t like the relatively disconnected way they introduced MAP so at least if they introduced characters as related to a main character, you get where they fit sooner.
It just doesn’t appeal to me though, and I hope that is not the direction they go.

Don’t see it personally. OUAT may be able to put their own spin where certain characters can mesh up with another but I don’t see Disney allowing one of their biggest cash cows (just in time for the blue ray release) to have been pregnant with Captain Hook. The only reason they allowed the Snow White/Emma loophole was because Emma isn’t an established Disney/Literary character and she’s the female lead of the show. Which brings the other obvious point that would undermine the show’s premise by taking away Emma’s unique journey and cutting and pasting it to a supporting character to appease a selective shipper group.
It’ll be more interesting to see who ends up playing Liam though.
I am not hoping for Hook to be their kid but I have to disagree they cannot do that. Ariel is the ONE princess that Disney has made a mother in their video sequels, and marketed these as a “trilogy” . Now she has a daughter not a son, but OUAT takes extreme liberties with many of the characters. They have an entire franchise on Tinkerbell, and a new movie (with Tom Hiddelston doing Hook’s voice) out soon. Yet there Tink is, human sized and chummy with the Evil Queen.
I do not think Liam is that interesting, Eric is recurring–Liam is not. There might be more to learn I guess by who they cast about what role he might play. Yet it seems like a small role either way.

ParticipantI don’t see an obvious one but to be fair I don’t think MRJ looks like Milah’s actress and RC all that much–and don’t start on how Snow resembles nothing from Leo.

ParticipantHigh on style, low on practicality for the jungle rescue mission.

ParticipantWe don’t know a lot about Emma’s magic. People are embellishing the little we know that has been said in the show and interviews. We know she has powerful magic, is the child of true love, but that her role as savior also has something to do with it, though it might not be the limit of it. Just as the curse might go beyond Rumple’s original intentions for having it cast, and certainly Regina’s in casting it.
Jane said she learns new things in the writers room all the time. Henry may or not be magical, and it may or may not be based in being the child of true love. Emma TRULY loves Henry. That’s cannon and maybe a mother’s true love like that is enough to spark magic? We have no idea.
Emma being special doesn’t mean Henry can’t also be special or a hero. In fact, he’s already been written as a necessary link to her destiny.

ParticipantThat could be, and it seems that Neal has suffered from nightmares (his interest in the dreamcatcher).

ParticipantThey definitely love to play with names. I think the Jones is going to be important, and Davy Jones locker is interesting. Perhaps that is where the wraith takes souls, and from there, you can get to NL?
I am not sure Neal goes back to SB. I don’t think given that people think he is dead, that anyone is looking for him. The only thing is once he wakes up and talks to Aurora, she might try to get in touch with Henry or Snow. We know Snow needed poppy powder to get that deep sleep, and that Henry is now in a nightmarish place. I think it is more likely Henry would have nightmares, and that Aurora would reach him and once Neal knows Henry is in NL–that is the only place he would want to go.
Unless they don’t want to revisit the Red Room to keep the story fresh, but in that case, who knows. Belle will be looking for Rumple, not Neal. She might find Neal in FTl, thinking that is where they went. She could then talk to Jefferson but like the others said, it is unlikely the actor is available.
I have wanted more out of Whale for awhile but keep getting disappointed.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. ParticipantI agree Slurpeez. There is more to Emma than being the child of true love–she is the child of prophecy, she IS the Savior (the hero!) and it will be her role in the story until the Happy Ending.
