ParticipantIt just made me think they are not “pairs” but separate characters who aren’t necessarily in romantic relationships with the other characters.

ParticipantI still think Hook concocted that father story to draw out and manipulate Bae. Just as he lied to Belle when he met her, and lied to Aurora too when he “freed” her but really had stolen her heart. He lied to Rumple about Milah when he came to rescue his wife. He lied to Regina to trick her into wearing the cuffs. He can seem really genuine when doing these lies, but that’s why is a good pirate. I’m not sure about his combat skills (Beaten with books, cane, umbrella stand, and a compass), but he is really good at deception and trickery. We’ve seen his sleight of hand over the bean against Rumple, then later Emma. There’s a back-story here I think about how he came to be this way, rather than the brute-force kind of ruffian Pirate.
Also, I don’t see a mid-30’s actor playing against Colin as a father either. A brother or friend, on the other hand, works perfectly. IT could also parallel some betrayal in present day storyline too, if that skeleton key clue was a nod to the storyline in the episode we saw the key.
So I think maybe Hook got the JR by tricking someone, and that might have led to Charming’s ancestors losing their kingdom. Not to Charming’s father himself, but that lineage. Yet it is convoluted really to try to show that, except with a clue like the crests.
If Liam is in Hook’s backstory, it may also be pre-curse but post-NL backstory too–we do not have the story of HIS escape from NL, and how he ended up in Regina’s castle.
Did they say we’ll get to know how he became a pirate, or just backstory in general?

ParticipantWere we going to get Charming’s father’s backstory too? What if it ties in to Hook’s backstory? I mean, why would King George be happy with some random peasant’s baby boy?

ParticipantThere could be a Navy, just as there was an army to fight wars, Navy simply being the term for military on ships. Now if they said Airforce I would have a question there.

ParticipantI do think BF has been used pretty conveniently, and therefore, if it is picking between “she’s an evil mastermind” and “the writers were sloppy”, as fans we are hoping it is the former.
That’s a good point RG, that BF doesn’t seem to think too much of Nova’s skills at the start of the episode, and then does make this special appeal to Dreamy to step aside. The other way to look at that though is she’s of the school of “hard teacher”, the one who never gives praise and pushes you because they know you need toughening up to achieve what you’re truly capable of achieving. I’m not sure, of course, she could just totally not value her fairy-slave-minion’s happiness at all in service of the greater good too.
The scene when Snow gets “air support” made it seem like there are a TON of fairies too, so why IS BF so concerned about losing ONE? There were also a lot of eggs to hatch (and like Screwball Ninja’s essay asked…what made those eggs!).“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. ParticipantWell, it’s his brother’s wedding, so possibly it was something they knew ahead when they hired him so they could have done earlier footage, or will shoot later or something.

ParticipantBlue did not give Nova a choice, she gave Dreamy the choice. I thought that was odd. And when she did it, she did so in the context that Dwarves CANNOT love, not that it was true love and he had to give it up.
So I don’t know that she’s “against” true love because she wants to maintain her power. She may not be the most powerful thing either, but I can’t wait for the Tink story as it might shed more light on Blue’s attitude. Was she trying to do them both a favor? Yes it is sort of a guilt trip but she doesn’t demand or threaten.

ParticipantI totally missed that you made that thread! I really only look at the first few new posts, so I probably should have tried the new search thing first.
Dr. Whale also draws. We assume he could not have been around back then, but…Time issues!

ParticipantI agree with Obisgirl on the Jedi reference (and we know A&E are big star wars fans!).
Jedi don’t exactly say love is weakness, of course, but the code is something like:
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force. If you have a lot of power, as fairies and Jedi’s do, love may be strong and good but the loss of it can inspire horrible acts (Regina and Rumple are like Darth Vader that way). So safer to avoid the temptation, sort of thing.
I still have my doubts about the lack of doubt that BF was up to no good with splitting them up. The whole purpose of the story was to explain why Grumpy became so angry and annoyed at the world. Snow and Neal were in pain, trying to forget, because it was if you love, give them up. Grumpy was told you do not love, so get out of the way. BF agreed with the dwarf foreman that HE could not love Nova, but she doesn’t really acknowledge whether she thinks Nova might love Grumpy. We think Grumpy truly did though, since Belle is the one who talks to him that she thinks he’s in love. Yet is that what BF thought?
If she really believed after her hundreds of years of life that no dwarf could love, then splitting them up wasn’t her acting against love, is it? Then again, I really do like the Tinkerbell as a fairy who dares to love and there being backstory here. I’m still curious why BF does not talk to her “student” Nova. We know why George goes to Snow. George has already tried to convince Charming to give up on Snow, and knows he cannot force it. We don’t know why August went to Neal and not Emma. So some suspect a conspiracy, and same with BF going to Grumpy rather than Nova.

ParticipantI was thinking she drew it on board the JR, and Hook had it. When the JR entered NL, maybe the page flew out the window or something.
Peter gets this picture, and decides he wants THAT boy. There’s a lot of gaps in this idea, I know. I can’t explain why he would want a boy in some random drawing as badly as he does, but I suppose in my head I was thinking something like, Peter sees a hand drawn picture by a mother and thinks “I want the kid that someone would love so much.” As to why Milah draws Henry, it was her trying to draw an older version of Bae in her imagination, since he was so young when she last saw him. Maybe there was an entire folio of these drawings, of her imagining him getting older, and getting more off-course by the time she was drawing him (from imagination) as 5 or 6 years older than she last saw him.
I have to wonder how someone living in the village we saw draws Palm Trees. This is before she met Hook in the bar. The picture is just hanging on the wall.
I also think though we paint Milah as heartless of Bae a lot, she does look at the baby proudly when she says his name. Bae might not have remembered her quite so well, but I think Milah DID regret leaving him.
I have this half-formed idea that Peter saw the love (or maybe there were writings on the back) and wanted that boy, but when he got Bae, well, Bae was not full of hope and love for his mother to find him. Henry of course is, for both his moms to come get him.
In the original stories, PP really wants a mother’s love. Yet he doesn’t want to grow up in the real world, which a real mother would force him to do. He has those abandonment issues (there’s that story we’ve discussed that Peter felt replaced).
Anyway,I’m ready to agree it is more likely NOT Milah’s drawing, but just thought it was odd she drew so much and and at least one scene she could not have seen where she was. I know RG, you’ve said before that the picture is SO like Jared Gilmore, it cannot have been drawn as being anything but of Henry. So that’s a huge stumbling block to the idea.
