I got out of that “Yo ho ho ho ….it’s ReHo!” setting sail. Only thing they spoiled romance wise was Regina other than what we already know (Snow and Charming, not-what-you-think Belle and Rumpel).
And just as CSers hope it also means Hook and Emma, I am hoping too for some Hookriel.

As for Neal and Emma…I think they aren’t done kicking Neal in the gut yet, and she needs time to process so not daring to hope for much at this point.

Could be, like Cora taking her own heart out. I liked that idea Girlhitscar had though, of the Andersen story about the Shadow that replaces a person. They’re already bringing in the Little Mermaid to NL.

The only problem is then that the shadow we saw didn’t seem to be able to check the boy against the prophecy picture. Maybe it can’t really tell such details as it was not human enough at that point (following the shadow story)?

So I’m not sure I’d consider Will having his heart ripped by Cora to be much of a tie to FTl, unless it happened there and not IN wonderland. But maybe that’s the extent of his tie.

The doll could be Bae’s and I could totally see Rumple making it for him after Milah left. And he could have put it in his jacket/robe in The Return and SSTR but it feels very “oh by the way, Bae had this on him the entire time…”

That is exactly what they did with the shawl. While we did see the shawl itself in an earlier episode, when Rumple dumped potion on it to keep his memories, we never saw Bae in that shawl until the very episode in Manhattan when it became important.

They could do the same thing here. Doll is introduced. We don’t see where or what it is until later, rather than the doll being dropped in a flashback in the same episode.

To be fair, it does make more sense that we didn’t see the shawl since Rumpel’s got a shop full of stuff, while Bae just had the clothes on his back. Yet Bae was leaving the only home he’d ever known for a new world. Why wouldn’t he take a special keepsake with him? And not so strange to think you’d tuck it into your clothes, for lack of a better place, and get used to doing so after living on the streets, even after you had a home and a shelf.

At this point, there isn’t enough information to reason one way or the other really, so it comes down to what story you prefer. I like Rumple but I am more curious to see his powerful Dark One days than his pre-power life as a little boy. For one thing, RC is amazing but he cannot play a little boy. I don’t mean to disrespect GG or MJR, or the wonderful kids for their younger selves, or even Rose and Barbara, but I think as they have so many characters to serve, whenever Rumple is onscreen I want it to be RC.

Then there are all these open plot points of how Rumple discovered the curse, why did he know Bae was running and still alive and how he knew PP was to be feared by all of them. It was not just his remembered fear as a little boy. Imagine you are the powerful Dark One, all cocky and sure of your power and you meet someone you cannot push around with you magic. Something made Rumple go from the talk of the town to hiding away in the Dark Castle behind the scenes, and I think it is a better story if it isn’t just grief over Bae and focus on casting the curse, but Rumpel realizing exactly what it meant that his power had limits. Because we have seen how uncomfortable he is without his magic, so we know this is a huge issue for Rumpel.

So now he has to go back to NL, back to a place where he isn’t top dog and he has to try to get the boy who was his undoing, and gets a nasty little reminder of just how powerful PP is. That he had Bae in his clutches at one point, and Rumple was so clueless he never even guessed.

Well what about the Land without Color? How does time move in these fictional realms, is it on a repeating loop so society does not advance?

I think the idea that all three Grace, Alice and Red Queen are related would be interesting.

But they have said Will the Knave goes back to the enchanted Forrest. So how? I do not see him fitting with any characters we met already.

Wetpaint takes the same spoilers and then adds a bunch of speculation that’s about as accurate as our crack theory guesses.

I still think Bae’s doll, that Rumple made to comfort him after Milah “died” or shortly after when Bae was born. That way it would not be Dylan, but a baby or younger kid, so we might not notice the casting (no call) and shot indoors.

Here is a creepy thought though, what if the doll used to be a person? Like Gepetto’s parents? Maybe the doll was a kid who befriended Rumpel the last time he was there (getting squid ink and other curse ingredients) and PP turned him into a doll.

They don’t have to show the full thing either. Sometimes less is more. With cheap CGI that is definitely true.

I could go either way that Ahab is in FTL or historical land without magic. He thinks he is hunting a whale but it isn’t one. As to your question, they already have this issue with Barrie having written Peter Pan, and suddenly Wendy Darling is alive in the “real” world.
Some fairytales are so old no one knows their origin, but the show is using several with definite origins and not all have their own world (Pinocchio for example, 1883 novel).

So I’m not sure Liam is Ahab but they may reference characters like him or Midas that people know but don’t really care if they are short-lived. They tried to do that with Lancelot and Robin hood, and people wanted more. So they need to find those dusty literary figures that people would know yet not care quite so much if we never see them again.

I like SB. I like the modern clashing with the fairytales, and if they were done with SB, they wouldn’t have recreated the soundstage set for it.

As RG said, they are writers and while I wouldn’t call myself a writer as you actually ought to be writing things down, I like to imagine. They have plenty to explore in SB in terms of character drama. They haven’t fully explored the “what if some don’t want to go back” theme. Or does the real world really know? Can they even go back? Maybe they’ll find that even if they have means to travel, the world they left is too devastated, and SB will morph from a temporary home to one that is permanent, and they’ll deal with the character’s processing that. It’s hard to tell what their end-game is really, do the writers envision the characters settling in SB eventually or back in FTL? We don’t actually know!

I do think they will always end up exploring other lands too of course. It’s like some of those sci-fi shows, where they have a home base and a wormhole or a ship and most of the action is in the same setting, but every once in awhile you get some new elaborate setting.
